The Effects Of Tulsa Remote On Inducing Moves To Tulsa: Estimates And Implications, Timothy J. Bartik
The Effects Of Tulsa Remote On Inducing Moves To Tulsa: Estimates And Implications, Timothy J. Bartik
Upjohn Institute Technical Reports
Tulsa Remote is one of the largest of over 100 remote worker attraction programs in the United States. Since its beginning in 2018, the program has provided generous incentives ($10,000 for moving to Tulsa and staying one year), along with accompanying networking services and incentives to encourage entrepreneurship, to over 3,000 Tulsa Remote member households, selected out of tens of thousands of applicants. Tulsa Remote’s purpose is to promote economic development in Tulsa. Tulsa Remote members spend more locally and generate fiscal benefits, as well as start up businesses and help make Tulsa more attractive for high-tech job growth. These …

A Catalytic Pathway For The Formation Of Cyanobenzene In Nitrogen-Rich Environments And The Spectroscopy Of The Reactive Intermediates, Vincent J. Esposito, Silvia Alessandrini, David Dubois, Ryan Fortenberry
Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences Faculty Articles and Research
The catalytic reaction of isocyanobenzene (C6H5NC) with NCN− produces cyanobenzene (C6H5NC) through various highly stable reactive intermediate species. Nitrogen-rich environments such as Titan’s atmosphere serve as favorable locations to study reaction pathways involving nitrogenated species contributing to organic growth. Formation pathways of cyanobenzene have been characterized, but none with the contribution of anions or phenyl groups. In regions with a high abundance of nitrogen anions, such as Titan’s atmosphere, reactions with species such as NCN− may play a role in the formation of cyanobenzene. Highly accurate computational methods are used …

Leveraging College Men’S Sports Betting Experiences To Inform Responsible Gambling: A Focus Group Study, Chance V. Dow, Matthew D. Andersland, Emily A. Velandia, Rory A. Pfund, James P. Whelan
UNLV Gaming Research & Review Journal
College students are especially vulnerable to the harms associated with sports betting. Responsible Gambling (RG) strategies aim to mitigate these harms. However, research on the relevance and adoption of RG strategies among college students is limited and lacks insight from consumer experiences. The current study conducted a qualitative investigation to examine the experiences of college men who sports bet to provide guidance on how these experiences can subsequently inform RG. Three online focus groups with college men who sports bet (n = 12) were conducted using a semi-structured interview guide. Discussions were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using an open …
Detecting And Analyzing Frequency Events In Power Systems Using Tunable Parameters-Based Algorithms: Development, Optimization, And Analysis, Hussain A. Alghamdi
Detecting And Analyzing Frequency Events In Power Systems Using Tunable Parameters-Based Algorithms: Development, Optimization, And Analysis, Hussain A. Alghamdi
Dissertations and Theses
This dissertation addresses the challenge of detecting frequency events in diverse power systems by enhancing existing frequency event detection methods through detection process modifications and developing unique tunable parameters. Since system characteristics differ across regions, frequency event detection algorithms must be customized by domain experts for each balancing area using tunable parameters. By optimizing these parameters for specific power system, the algorithms can accurately detect frequency events and can also be used for further analysis to determine trends in frequency events over time, ensuring system stability.
This dissertation focuses on the enhancement and optimization of frequency event detection algorithms. These …

One embodiment includes a method comprising: training an artificial intelligence (AI) engine with successfully executed prior action data; receiving, by the AI engine, a request to perform an action; identifying, by the AI engine, one or more attributes to execute the action; obtaining, by the AI engine, a confirmation of the one or more attributes; identifying, by the AI engine, a plurality of APIs to perform the action as defined by the one or more attributes; identifying, by the AI engine, a sequence of execution for the plurality of APIs to perform the action; and executing, by the AI engine, …
The Chinese American Experience, Katherine Chan Sorensen
The Chinese American Experience, Katherine Chan Sorensen
2025 Symposium
This paper examines and identifies conflicts of second-generation Chinese Americans, focusing on the interplay of cultural values, gender roles, and societal stereotypes. Through an interview with Connor Chan, a 23-year-old Chinese American, the study illuminates the tension between traditional Chinese patriarchy and evolving American norms. Intergenerational conflicts arising from differing acculturation experiences are explored, highlighting the emotional strain of navigating two distinct cultural landscapes.
The research addresses the persistence of traditional gender roles, where male breadwinners are emphasized, contrasting with Americas idea of female empowerment. This dissonance creates internal and external pressures for second-generation individuals. Furthermore, the paper confronts the …

Accounting For The Decline Of Service Delivery In Urban Local Authorities: A Survey Of Zimbabwean Cities And Towns, Wenceslaus Mudyanadzo, Makomborero Y. Nzwatu
Accounting For The Decline Of Service Delivery In Urban Local Authorities: A Survey Of Zimbabwean Cities And Towns, Wenceslaus Mudyanadzo, Makomborero Y. Nzwatu
Journal of African Policy Studies
This paper presents a review of several factors which account for the decline of service delivery in urban local authorities within Zimbabwe. The study utilised desk research methodology to explore and analyse relevant data which was in government legislation, ministerial statements, public and private media articles, books and journals to come up with the totality of the environment relating directly or indirectly to the decline of service delivery in local authorities (LAs). The evidence cited is based on findings from identified urban local authorities which include Harare, Chitungwiza, Gweru, Mutare, Masvingo and Bulawayo City Councils. Themes surrounding the interference in …
Evaluating The Reliability And Accuracy Of Three Sensor Prototypes For Enhancing Stair Mobility, Chloe R. Schmidt
Evaluating The Reliability And Accuracy Of Three Sensor Prototypes For Enhancing Stair Mobility, Chloe R. Schmidt
2025 Symposium
Peripheral neuropathy causes sensory deficits, impaired motor control, and instability. One challenge for individuals with neuropathy is stair navigation due to reduced sensory feedback and altered mechanics, increasing fall risk. Few commercial products mitigate sensory issues, creating a need for an affordable and easy to use product for individuals with neuropathy safely navigate stairs. PURPOSE: To evaluate the reliability and accuracy of three sensor prototypes designed to provide assistive feedback through tactile and visual cues during stair navigation. METHODS: 15 healthy adults (22.33 ± 2.87 y) completed the study, consisting of stair ascent and descent with the prototypes placed in …

Event Planners And Plants: Creating A Blooming Experience, Rebekah E T Rowland, Mary S. Olle
ICHRIE Research Reports
This research examines how event planners and horticulturists can collaborate to enhance guest experiences through events hosted at arboretums and public gardens. The meeting and event industry offers diverse opportunities, aiming to create memorable, engaging experiences that encourage return visits. Unique venues such as botanical gardens blend natural beauty, education, and community engagement, elements that traditional spaces often lack. Horticulture, rooted in the art, science, and business of plants, benefits from partnerships with event planners who bring expertise in design and guest experience. Based on existing literature, this study explores how thoughtful event design featuring sustainable floral arrangements and nature …
