From Access To Accountability: Closing The Nonprofit Data Gap In Fintech Lending, Oluwatomisin Olubakinde
From Access To Accountability: Closing The Nonprofit Data Gap In Fintech Lending, Oluwatomisin Olubakinde
Journal of Nonprofit Innovation
Financial technology is often treated as a promising path toward financial inclusion. Mobile banking, alternative credit scoring, and AI-assisted underwriting have expanded access to financial products, but access alone does not guarantee fair outcomes. This piece frames fintech accountability as a nonprofit data accessibility issue. Nonprofits working in financial inclusion cannot fully evaluate fintech referrals or partnerships when the data behind approval decisions, pricing patterns, denial reasons, and appeal pathways remain inaccessible. Drawing on research in fintech lending and algorithmic fairness, the paper shows how data inputs, model design, and approval thresholds shape who benefits from fintech and who may …
The Impact Of Risk Management Strategies On Financial Forecasting In Small Businesses, Lakisha Hatcher
The Impact Of Risk Management Strategies On Financial Forecasting In Small Businesses, Lakisha Hatcher
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Many small businesses are prone to fail because of ineffective or non-existing financial risk management practices. This problem is important to small business owners because ineffective risk management can hinder financial forecasting, decision-making, and long-term operational sustainment. The purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry is to explore effective financial risk management strategies used by small business owners to identify and mitigate risk to improve financial risk management activities. The conceptual framework was enterprise risk management. The participants consisted of seven service-based small business owners located in Central Maryland who successfully implemented financial risk management practices. Data were collected through semistructured …

Background: Pharmacogenetic (PGx) testing could identify actionable drug-gene interactions, reducing the risks of inappropriate prescribing of certain medications in some patients. An area of growing public health concern is rising global rates of depression and antidepressant use over the last two decades. Prior research has elucidated perspectives of healthcare providers who prescribe antidepressants regarding the clinical utility of genetic information, including PGx testing, but there is a gap in understanding how individual perspectives and systemic contextual factors may combine to influence PGx testing adoption. Objective: The objective of this study was to elucidate combinations of individual and contextual …
Dosimetric Impact Of Eclipse’S Entrance Avoidance Tool On Salivary Gland Sparing In Head And Neck Vmat Plans, Shannon Diederichs
Dosimetric Impact Of Eclipse’S Entrance Avoidance Tool On Salivary Gland Sparing In Head And Neck Vmat Plans, Shannon Diederichs
Masters Projects
Medical dosimetry is constantly evolving as new techniques emerge to improve plan quality. The Eclipse treatment planning system (TPS) is equipped with the entrance and exit dose avoidance tool commonly used to prevent beam interaction with implanted metals or steer the beam away from anatomical regions. Current literature shows this tool has not been thoroughly investigated for more fundamental applications such as routine organ at risk (OAR) sparing. Xerostomia remains a lasting side effect for head-and-neck cancer (HNC) patients after the salivary glands receive substantial radiation. This study takes a more detailed look at the tool’s effectiveness when applied to …
Should We Flee? The Mortality And Economic Impacts Of Hurricane Evacuation Orders, Lucas Kaplan
Should We Flee? The Mortality And Economic Impacts Of Hurricane Evacuation Orders, Lucas Kaplan
Center for Policy Research
I estimate the mortality and county-level regional economic impacts of hurricane evacuation orders using a novel instrumental variables framework. Relative to similarly affected but non-evacuated areas, evacuated counties experience fewer deaths but lower personal income, employment, and business establishments into the second year following the storm, likely stemming from delayed returns in wealthier neighborhoods. I then develop a threshold decision rule that balances the mortality benefits against these persistent economic costs and apply this framework to orders issued from 2016–2022. Incorporating these persistent economic costs alters policy evaluation: the largest orders generate net benefits that dwarf their costs, but the …
The Student Performer's Guide To Creating A Consortium, Jaycee Swan
The Student Performer's Guide To Creating A Consortium, Jaycee Swan
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
Among advanced musicians who advocate for increasing diversity in classically oriented repertoire, music commissioning is a common practice. Funding a composer to write original music, however, seems out of reach for student musicians or those without the financial means and know-how. A more affordable and therefore accessible alternative to the stand-alone commission is the consortium-based commission for new music. In this lecture portion of a “lecture-recital with written document,” I (a) document my experience in spearheading a new music consortium and, from that experience, (b) present a guide for facilitating a new music consortium.
The project was the impetus for …

Maleficia's Magic: Witchcraft, Race, And The Legacy Of Afro-Mexican Women And Identity In Colonial New Spain, Siobhan K. Arechavala
Honors Theses
This thesis examines the disproportionate prosecution of mulatta and Black women by the Mexican Inquisition in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and argues that this pattern was not incidental to Spanish colonialism but central to it. Drawing primarily on inquisitorial trial records from the Huntington Library’s Mexican Inquisition Papers and the Archivo General de la Nación’s Ramo Inquisición, alongside period treatises and secondary scholarship on witchcraft, caste, and Afro-Mexican history, the study traces how limpieza de sangre, Christian demonology, and colonial racial hierarchy combined to position African-descended women as embodiments of the disorder colonial elites feared most. The first chapter …

Emergent De Sitter Expansion And Closed Topology From The Cosmic Fabric Model As An Open Thermodynamic System: Resolving The Negative Bulk Modulus Paradox, T G. Tenev, C B. Ward, T F. Tenev, M F. Horstemeyer
Faculty Publications and Presentations
The Cosmic Fabric Model establishes a continuum-mechanics isomorphism to General Relativity by representing physical space as an elastic three-dimensional hyperplate embedded in a four-dimensional spatial bulk. Reproducing vacuum kinematics requires a vanishing P-wave modulus, which in turn implies a negative bulk modulus—an apparent thermodynamic instability in a closed system. This paradox is resolved by recasting the framework as an open system: the instability is not pathological but instead drives cosmic expansion. In this interpretation, the observable universe is a lower-energy solid formed through continuous solidification from a higher-dimensional precursor fluid. Using multiplicative kinematics from finite-growth mechanics, the model shows that …

Batujaya Sebagai Destinasi Wisata Edukasi Sejarah, Retno Raswaty
Multikultura
The Batujaya site in Karawang Regency is a National-level Cultural Heritage Area that houses the oldest Buddhist temple complex on Java Island. However, its potential as an educational tourism destination has not yet been optimally developed. This article examines the educational value of Batujaya through experiential learning, historical thinking, and episodic memory approaches. It demonstrates that direct learning at historical sites delivers a stronger cognitive and affective impact compared to textual learning in the classroom. Based on archaeological findings, Batujaya is identified as having a dual function as both a center of worship and a center of learning in the …

Reinforcing Media Governance In Indonesian Dynamic Cyber Space, Poppy Setiawaty Nurisnaeny, Hendra Kaprisma, Chrisna Yudhawinata, Sudirman Sudirman
International Review of Humanities Studies
Following the rapid change in technology development, the Indonesian mass media have undergone a digital transformation. This digital mass media and its users have evolved, assimilated, and integrated themselves to fit in the cyber world. This distinguishing feature distinguishes them from traditional mass media. The cyber environment's infinite international boundaries are both advantageous and disadvantageous, as it is difficult to govern digital activity outside Indonesia's jurisdiction. This unregulated environment became a breeding ground for cybercrime, making the digital space unsafe for individuals and threatening national security. In response to this issue, the Indonesian government has enacted various laws and policies, …

Radical Responsibility: Sartre And The Ecocentric Erosion Of Human Agency, Khodadad Azizi, Naupal Asnawi, Abby Gina Boang Manalu
International Review of Humanities Studies
Contemporary ecological crisis persists despite decades of environmental ethics discourse and rising public awareness, a discrepancy researchers have named the awareness-action gap. One influential corrective, running from Aldo Leopold’s land ethic through Arne Naess’s deep ecology, addresses anthropocentric domination by folding the human being back into the biotic community as one member among others. This article argues that such levelling, whatever its merits against domination, carries an underexamined cost: it erodes the very ground on which anyone can be held responsible for ecological destruction, since only a being capable of choice, not soil, water, or rock, can be asked to …

Women’S Experience In Digital Literature As A Form Of Resistance Against Patriarchy, Tazkia Maula Azzari, Mina Elfira
Women’S Experience In Digital Literature As A Form Of Resistance Against Patriarchy, Tazkia Maula Azzari, Mina Elfira
International Review of Humanities Studies
This paper aims to shed light on an emerging type of digital literature on X that acts as a medium for women to express their struggle and feelings in a patriarchal society. This new form of digital literature is novel for it has been popularized on X in the past few years, therefore there is much to explore regarding this field. In particular, this paper will look into how this new form of literature is being used by women to express their resistance against patriarchy on the digital sphere. The qualitative method with a feminist approach was used in this …

Knowledge, Attitudes, And Practices By Women In Cartagena Regarding Breast Self-Examination, Rafael Arnedo Martínez, Keidis Ruidiaz Gómez
Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia
Breast self-examination (BSE), especially when adopted by vulnerable populations, serves as a vital mechanism for the timely detection of breast abnormalities indicative of cancer. As a result, this decreases the public health burden associated with treatment at advanced stages. Therefore, assessing knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding this simple early detection method is a priority. This study examines the relationship between KAP concerning BSE among women in Cartagena, Colombia. A cross-sectional correlational study was conducted with 322 women attending a healthcare facility. Data were gathered using two tools: a sociodemographic profile and a KAP questionnaire. Results showed that most participants …

Development Of Perineal Electric Massager Experience (Pem-X) To Improve Perineal Elasticity, Suryani Manurung, Amalia Mely, Yetty Mariani Tambun
Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia
Perineal injury remains a common concern in vaginal childbirth, with a prevalence of 30.6%. Low maternal perineal massage practice is a contributing factor to decreased perineal elasticity and an increased risk of perineal trauma. This pilot study aimed to develop the Perineal Electric Massager Experience (PEM-X) to support mothers in self-guided perineal massage. The research employed a level 4 Research and Development (R&D) method with a one-group pretestposttest design. The study sample consisted of two parts: the PEM-X prototype and postpartum mothers who had vaginal deliveries. A purposive sampling technique was used to recruit 10 postpartum mothers who had vaginal …

Supportive And Palliative Care: Addressing The Unspoken Burden Of Cancer On Significant Others, Esmeraldo C. De Las Armas Iv
Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia
A diagnosis such as cancer can cast a long-lasting gloom that affects not only the patient but also their loved ones. This concept analysis represents an effort to understand and explore the nuanced world of supportive and palliative care for significant others of cancer patients, a population that has often been overlooked. Rodgers’ evolutionary model of concept analysis was utilized to examine the concept of supportive and palliative care for significant others of cancer patients. Positive outcomes for both significant others and patients included improved coping mechanisms, reduced caregiver burden, enhanced communication, and better quality of life. However, several challenges …

Cramer’S V-Based Driver Screening For Land-Use Change Prediction In A Flood-Prone Coastal Lowland Of Demak Regency, Indonesia (2002-2035), Mellinia Regina Heni Prastiwi, Sigit Heru Murti Budi Santosa, Sudaryatno Sudaryatno, Daud Richard Malusu
Jurnal Pendidikan Geografi: Kajian, Teori, dan Praktek dalam Bidang Pendidikan dan Ilmu Geografi
Land use in the floodplain of Demak Regency has changed rapidly under pressure from urbanization and economic activity, and this change is hypothesized to contribute to increased flood risk, a concern reinforced by the extreme flood disaster of February-March 2024, although establishing a direct causal link between the observed land-use trajectory and the magnitude of that specific flood event would require dedicated hydrological modeling beyond the scope of this study. This study proposes examining the spatio-temporal dynamics of land use from 2002 to 2024 and forecast the conditions in 2035 utilizing a Land Change Model (LCM) framework combining Markov chains …
Generosity After Negative Random Shocks, Hernán Bejarano, Joris Gillet, Ismael Rodriguez-Lara
Generosity After Negative Random Shocks, Hernán Bejarano, Joris Gillet, Ismael Rodriguez-Lara
ESI Working Papers
We report the results of three preregistered experiments examining the effects of negative random endowment shocks on generosity. Using a dictator game, we show that generosity is greater towards those who experience a negative random shock, and this effect is larger than the effect inequality has on giving. Our data provide evidence that people do not expect this additional level of generosity after a shock and that injunctive norms cannot explain it either. Taken together, our findings suggest that the (high) level of generosity observed after negative random shocks is unexpected and exceeds what people consider to be socially appropriate. …

How Do Psychosocial Factors Of Children With Special Needs Affect Work-Family Life Balance?, Sirjon Sirjon, Henni Anggraini, Solicha Solicha, Eva Meizara Puspita Dewi, Herdina Tyas Leylasari, Dewi Mahastuti
Journal of ICSAR
This study examines the impact of psychosocial factors on Work-Family Life Balance (WFB) among parents of children with special needs. The study focuses on three key factors: financial well-being, community support, and problem-solving skills. The data gathered from 100 parents by Purposive Sampling was analyzed quantitatively using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that community support (T-statistic = 4.517, p = 0.000) and problem-solving skills (T-statistic = 2.533, p = 0.012) have a statistically significant positive effect on family life balance. In contrast, financial well-being (T-statistic = 1.566, p = 0.118) had no significant effect on WFB. These results …
