satellite-mobile communication is currently one of the most growing areas in the field of telecommunications. However, the interference and the multi-path fading are still considered as major problems for receiving a dependable signal in such systems and this can generally lead to a significant degradation in their performance. One interesting solution to mitigate this problem is to utilize adaptive antenna array systems on the mobile user terminals. These systems will be used to steer the radiation pattern towards the satellite signal and to dynamically put nulls in the direction of the interference and the multi-path signals. This will be done …

Requirements engineering is the first step of software development process and it is one of the main concerns of software engineers. System requirements selection is the engineering process to select an optimal set of system requirements for implementation in the next system of the software from many requirements proposed by the customers on condition that budget and customer satisfaction are being balanced. This NP-hard problem is an important issue involving several conflicting objectives that have to be processed by software companies when developing new software systems. Software systems have to perform their function within resource constraints, but they also have …

Group Norms As Moderator In The Effect Of Cross Group Friendship On Outgroup Attitude: A Study On Interreligious Group In Indonesia, Whinda Yustisia
Makara Human Behavior Studies in Asia
Past studies indicate that the effect of intergroup contact on outgroup attitude is not isolated to contextual factors. One of the contextual factors that has begun to be studied is group norm. However, group norm in these studies is still merely conceptualized as the perception of how ingroup members evaluate outgroup members. In fact, according to norm focus theory, in a given context, individuals are influenced, at least, by two types of group norms, namely injunctive norms (i.e., what most people morally accept to do) and descriptive norms (i.e., what most people do). To fill the gap, present studies attempt …

Interplay Between Oxidative Stress, Sirt1, Reproductive And Metabolic Functions, Faiza Alam, Hareem Syed, Sofia Amjad, Mukhtiar Baig, Taseer Ahmed Khan, Rehana Rehman
Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences
Silent information Regulators (SIRT1) gene stimulates antioxidants' expression, repairs cells damaged by oxidative stress (OS), and prevents the cells' dysfunction. In particular, the role of different Sirtuins, particularly SIRT1 in reproduction, has been widely studied over the past decade. Decreased SIRT 1 causes mitochondrial dysfunction by increasing Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), lipid peroxidation, and DNA damage in both male and female gametes (Sperms and Oocytes), leading to infertility. In the female reproductive system, SIRT1 regulates proliferation and apoptosis in granulosa cells (GCs), and its down-regulation is associated with a reduced ovarian reserve. SIRT1 also modulates the stress response to OS …

Michigan Tech Publications, Part 1
Vertically stacked, layered van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures offer the possibility to design materials, within a range of chemistries and structures, to possess tailored properties. Inspired by the naturally occurring mineral merelaniite, this paper studies a vdW heterostructure composed of a MoS2 monolayer and a PbS bilayer, using density functional theory. A commensurate 2D heterostructure film and the corresponding 3D periodic bulk structure are compared. The results find such a heterostructure to be stable and possess p-type semiconducting characteristics. Due to the heterostructure’s weak interlayer bonding, its carrier mobility is essentially governed by the constituent layers; the hole mobility is …
