Fi-Fractured Policy: Problematic Preemption Provisions Under The Epa’S Fifra, Eric Mathemeier Feb 2026

Fi-Fractured Policy: Problematic Preemption Provisions Under The Epa’S Fifra, Eric Mathemeier

Helms School of Government Undergraduate Law Review

The American people have long believed that nutrition is the main factor they should consider when purchasing produce. However, Americans are starting to worry that pesticides are infiltrating their food, namely their fruits and vegetables, and they would not be incorrect. Across many studies, surveys consistently find that 60% of Americans believe pesticides are bad for their health and have admitted to refraining from buying produce due to pesticide labeling. Only one in four Americans trusts the federal government with the responsibility of trustworthy and safe pesticide use.

Because of this, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has worked …

Journal of Pre-College Engineering Education Research (J-PEER)

With intentional teacher facilitation, whole-class conversations can help students refine their engineering reasoning, consider new ideas, and make novel connections between different ways of defining or solving a problem. These conversations can also help students expand their engineering thinking to include perspectives of care and socioethical deliberations. A team of classroom teachers and university researchers has been enacting and studying whole-class engineering design conversations—Design Talks—in first through sixth grade classrooms. We organize Design Talks in five genres: problem-scoping talks, idea generation talks, design-in- progress talks, design synthesis talks, and impact talks. After five years of planning, implementing, and analyzing recorded …

Pon Port Oam Reflector Using A Single Onu Mac Address Feb 2026

Pon Port Oam Reflector Using A Single Onu Mac Address

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure describes a scalable approach for supporting Ethernet OAM, including ITU-T Y.1731 performance monitoring, on Passive Optical Network (PON) Optical Network Units (ONUs) using a single MAC address. The approach anchors downstream Maintenance Association End Points (MEPs) logically at the PON interface, allowing all unicast Y.1731 messages for multiple Ethernet services to use the ONU PON MAC as a common destination address. By extending existing ITU-T G.988 Dot1ag MEP configuration to associate a MEP with the ANI-G entity, and by leveraging the standardized ONU Manufacturing Data Managed Entity for MAC address discovery, the approach avoids per-service MAC address allocation …

Tunable Multi-Stage Query-Based Protocol For Personalized Content Recommendations, Animesh Sinha, Jital Patel, Akshay Gaur

Defensive Publications Series

Content recommendation systems rely on user-behavior statistics to model preferences. These systems must be engineered to handle an ever-growing corpus of documents, a vast user base, and sparse signals for inferring latent interests. Additionally, they face significant challenges in determining the appropriate dimensionality and granularity for interest modeling. To produce high-quality systems that function at web-scale, it is essential to leverage global semantic knowledge. Conventionally, this is achieved through various embedding and tagging systems that provide a foundational vocabulary for interest modeling. In this work, we propose a multi-stage, query-based architecture that leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) to learn high-quality …

Teaching Multiculturalism With A Christian Worldview To Influence Perspectives: Combating Emotions And Challenging Presuppositions Of Counselors, Steven Brooks Feb 2026

Teaching Multiculturalism With A Christian Worldview To Influence Perspectives: Combating Emotions And Challenging Presuppositions Of Counselors, Steven Brooks

Faculty Publications and Presentations

In counseling education, teaching multiculturalism is a critical curricular component. Today, counselors (more widely defined as various caregivers) are more likely to encounter people whose race or culture differs from their own. Therefore, to be the most effective counselor, a solid and unapologetic curriculum in multiculturalism should be required. Because the education component of multiculturalism is often subordinate to a trainee’s reluctance—or even inability—to confront the difficult concepts, it is necessary first to address the reluctance; hence, my thesis. Multiculturalism presented and discussed on an academic plane is more likely to assuage trainees’ fears and spur them to cultural competence. …

Staff Education Using A Workplace Violence Reduction Bundle, Julla Panneh Feb 2026

Staff Education Using A Workplace Violence Reduction Bundle, Julla Panneh

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement project addressed the ongoing issue of workplace violence (WPV) among medical-surgical nurses in an acute care setting. WPV poses significant risks to staff safety, psychological well-being, and the overall care environment. Guided by current evidence and professional guidelines, the project implemented a structured educational intervention focused on the Workplace Violence Reduction Bundle, incorporating the Broset Violence Checklist (BVC) and evidence-based de-escalation strategies. Medical-surgical nursing staff participated in tailored educational sessions; knowledge was assessed through pre- and post-intervention surveys, and program acceptability was evaluated through staff feedback. Data analysis revealed modest improvements in …

Impact Of Workplace Ostracism, Moderated By Personality Traits On Psychological Safety, Aniko Rastovac Feb 2026

Impact Of Workplace Ostracism, Moderated By Personality Traits On Psychological Safety, Aniko Rastovac

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Psychological safety, an essential element for fostering collaboration, trust, and innovation, can be undermined by negative interactions in the workplace. Most importantly, a lack of psychological safety is a barrier to individual and organizational growth, development, and innovation, which is necessary for gaining a competitive organizational advantage. The present study examines the concept of workplace ostracism as a negative interaction in the workplace that affects psychological safety. Using the big five personality traits framework, Edmondson’s (1999) concept of psychological safety, and Tett et al.’s (2021) trait activation theory, this quantitative study examined how individual differences moderate the impact of workplace …

Solar Backscatter Ultraviolet (Buv) Retrievals Of Mid-Stratospheric Aerosols From The 2022 Hunga Eruption, Robert J.D. Spurr, Matt Christi, Nickolay A. Krotkov, Won Ei Choi, Simon Carn, Can Li, Et Al.

Michigan Tech Publications

On 15 January 2022, a highly explosive eruption of the submarine Hunga volcano (Kingdom of Tonga) generated the largest stratospheric hydration event ever observed and the largest aerosol perturbation since the 1991 Pinatubo eruption. Here, we develop a novel method for satellite retrieval of stratospheric aerosol optical depth (AOD) and layer peak height (zp) using solar backscattered ultraviolet (BUV) radiation; this is made possible by the exceptional mid-stratospheric altitude of the Hunga aerosols. We analyze BUV observations of the Hunga stratospheric aerosol cloud on 17 January 2022 (47 h after the eruption), using BUV band 1 measurements from the TROPOspheric …

Staff Education To Improving Patient Safety Outcomes Through Structured Staff Education, Imuetinyan Phillipa Ehondor Feb 2026

Staff Education To Improving Patient Safety Outcomes Through Structured Staff Education, Imuetinyan Phillipa Ehondor

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This staff education doctoral project was implemented to address inconsistent staff knowledge of patient safety principles, disproportionate adherence to safety practices, and underutilization of standardized educational resources in an acute care clinic setting. It was important to address this issue in the context of nursing practice because patient safety is foundational to high-quality health care, directly influencing patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, organizational performance, and workforce morale. The practice-focused question was the following: In an acute care clinic, how does the implementation of a standardized safety protocol education program, compared to existing practices, impact staff knowledge regarding a culture of safety? …

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: CD20 deficiency is an autosomal recessive inborn error of immunity (IEI), and the only known affected individual worldwide has been under follow-up in our clinic. Because the consanguineous parents of the index patient are putative carriers, we hypothesized that additional individuals with reduced CD20 expression might exist within their village population. This study aimed to evaluate clinical features associated with IEI and to identify individuals displaying CD20 mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) patterns consistent with putative carrier status, while also providing appropriate genetic counseling.

Materials and methods: This cross-sectional screening study was conducted in December 2024 in Çukurbağ village. Participants …
