A Modified Kalman Filter-Based Mobile Robot Position Measurement Using An Accelerometer And Wheels Encoder, Ali Madhloom, Firas Raheem, Azad Kareem Mar 2026

A Modified Kalman Filter-Based Mobile Robot Position Measurement Using An Accelerometer And Wheels Encoder, Ali Madhloom, Firas Raheem, Azad Kareem

Engineering and Technology Journal

Position measurement is an essential process of mobile robot navigation. In this research, a Kalman Filter is applied to locating a mobile robot furnisher with an encoder and accelerometer. The accelerometer updates its position off-hand. It has an acceptable short period of stability. However, this stability will be decreased over time. The odometry model is utilized to measure the mobile robot's position and heading angle using encoders equipped with the wheels of the mobile robot. Moreover, the odometry model's errors exist because of the wheel rotating speed's integrative nature and non-systematic errors. In this work, the mobile robot position estimation …

Design Of A Sliding Mode Controller For A Prosthetic Human Hand’S Finger, Hussein Majeed, Saleem Kadhim, Alaa Jaber

Engineering and Technology Journal

In this research paper, the modeling and control of a tendon-driven, instead of joint motors, the prosthetic finger that mimics the actual human index finger were deliberated. Firstly, the dynamic model of the prosthetic finger is developed based on a 3-degree of freedom (DOF) articulated robot structure and utilizing the Lagrange equation. Then, the classical sliding mode control (CSMC) strategy was implemented to control the finger motion. To overcome the cons of CSMC, such as the chattering problem, an adaptive sliding mode controller (ASMC) was developed.  MATLAB Simuphalange was used to perform the simulation after the necessary equations were derived. …

The outdoor temperature is 77 degrees F, but we are sitting talking in the shadow of the trees. Lars says it …

The Caldwell Method: A Multi‑Ai, Safety‑First Framework For Real‑World, Open‑Hardware Invention, Michael Victor Caldwell Mr. Mar 2026

The Caldwell Method: A Multi‑Ai, Safety‑First Framework For Real‑World, Open‑Hardware Invention, Michael Victor Caldwell Mr.

Defensive Publications Series

The Caldwell Method is a human‑driven, AI‑augmented invention framework developed by independent inventor Michael Victor Caldwell Mr. (GCI). The method uses four to five independent artificial intelligence systems to evaluate, correct, and validate every invention concept before publication. Each AI must independently analyze physics, materials, manufacturability, safety, cost, and real‑world viability. Any flaw identified by one AI is circulated to all others through a cross‑AI correction loop until all systems converge on the same factual answer. An invention only advances when all AIs unanimously confirm feasibility and safety.

This process ensures that no half‑validated or speculative ideas are released. …

Vector Map Generation And Correction Using A Geometric Language Modeling Approach, Idan Kligvasser, Yotam Intrator, Ehud Rivlin, Regev Cohen Mar 2026

Vector Map Generation And Correction Using A Geometric Language Modeling Approach, Idan Kligvasser, Yotam Intrator, Ehud Rivlin, Regev Cohen

Defensive Publications Series

Some automated map generation systems may produce geometrically inconsistent outputs from visual data as they can lack an inherent geometric grammar. This can be addressed by reframing cartography as a structured language modeling problem. A specialized polylines language may be used to represent geographic features as discrete token sequences. A multi-modal model can be trained to autoregressively generate these sequences from inputs, such as satellite imagery, effectively translating visual data into a geometrically structured format. This process can embed geometric and topological logic into the generation, which may improve the likelihood of producing consistent map data, inferring occluded features, and …

Generative Synthesis of Web Environments with Controllable Difficulty and Integrated Validation for Agent Training

ABSTRACT

Training and evaluating computer control agents may be challenging due to limitations in the availability of large-scale, diverse, and controllable digital environments. Existing methods can have limitations related to scalability, reproducibility, and the ability to parameterize task difficulty. A described framework can utilize generative models, such as large language models, to synthesize functional, web-based environments. The framework can generate source code for an environment (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript), a corresponding natural language task description, and a validation function to programmatically assess task completion. This approach …

Optimizing Known Defect Notifications Using Runtime Data, Elis Lulja, Alberto Rodriguez-Natal, Steve Williams, Yu Sun

Defensive Publications Series

Techniques described herein provide for a runtime-aware defect/advisory notification system that filters or reprioritizes alerts for a device based on whether defective/vulnerable code has executed on the device.  Instead of assuming all devices running a particular software release are equally vulnerable, the techniques rule out defects/vulnerabilities that have not occurred at the current runtime state for a device.  The techniques focus on negative confirmation in which relevant defects are identified by tracking the absence of defective code execution.

This paper reports a new approach wherein the qualifications of the recycled scrap sought for purchase is predetermined by providing target specifications to suppliers, allowing suppliers to optimize the efficiency of the end-to-end process. This efficiency will increase confidence in the market and is mutually beneficial to the suppliers and consumers of recycled materials alike. Recycled scrap with well-defined specifications is of higher quality and therefore of higher value as it can be purchased confidently and in larger volumes, for use in target products. Thus, a further goal of reducing downcycling can also be achieved.  Additionally, a new process for …

Perceived Black Maternal Narcissism And Their Daughters’ Delinquency: Chronicles From A Daughter’S Interpretation, Nzinga Cates

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This qualitative study examined the intricate dynamics between perceived Black narcissistic mothers and their daughters, particularly regarding potential delinquent behaviors exhibited by the daughters. By utilizing in-depth interviews with seven participants, I sought to uncover the psychological and relational factors contributing to these behaviors’ development. Thematic analysis indicated that daughters of narcissistic mothers often endure emotional neglect, manipulation, and lack of healthy role modeling. This can result in feelings of inadequacy and rebellion. Themes of identity confusion, low self-esteem, and desire for autonomy surfaced as significant contributors to the daughters’ engagement in delinquent activities. The study underscored the importance of …

Moderating Effects Of Leadership Style And Organizational Culture On Information Technology Involvement, Erick Dyson Mar 2026

Moderating Effects Of Leadership Style And Organizational Culture On Information Technology Involvement, Erick Dyson

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This quantitative correlational study investigated the relationships among leadership styles, organizational culture, information technology involvement (INV), IT adoption intention (ITA), and knowledge-sharing intention (KSI) among managerial staff in educational institutions in the northeastern United States. Grounded in the technology acceptance model (TAM) and knowledge management theory, the study utilized survey responses from 141 participants in supervisory roles. Regression analyses revealed that INV significantly predicted ITA (F = 31.725, p < .001), accounting for 17.7% of the variance. However, ITA demonstrated a statistically significant but inverse relationship with KSI (F = 7.995, p < .001), indicating that greater ITA was associated with lower KSI. Hierarchical regression showed that the inclusion of leadership styles and organizational cultures improved model fit, with the final model explaining 53.3% of the variance in KSI. Charismatic, transformational, and transactional leadership styles moderated the ITA and KSI relationship, while servant and transactional leadership directly predicted KSI. Among cultural types, hierarchy and market cultures moderated the ITA and KSI relationship, while adhocracy, hierarchy, and market cultures directly predicted KSI. Seventeen significant two-factor interactions were identified, highlighting the complex interplay of leadership and culture. Reliability analyses confirmed acceptable internal consistency (α = .71 -.85), and regression diagnostics indicted no assumption violations. These findings challenge traditional TAM assumptions and emphasize the need for context-aware strategies integrating leadership and culture to enhance knowledge sharing in digitally transforming institutions.

Insights From Ai Tutors In Undergraduate And Graduate Engineering Courses, Billy Kihei, Sheila Hill, Sumit Chakravarty

Proceedings of the Cognitive Innovation Conference (CognoCon)

As large language models become broadly accessible, questions about how to integrate them productively into engineering education have moved from speculative to urgent. This paper presents the design rationale and early deployment experience of 247officehours.com, a faculty-created, faculty-managed platform that grounds AI tutoring in instructor-selected course materials and connects it to assessment, engagement tracking, and targeted instructional intervention. Drawing on deployment across undergraduate and graduate engineering courses, we describe six core platform features, analyze how student interactions map onto Bloom's revised taxonomy, and identify recurring patterns of productive and unproductive AI use. A tutor–tutee inversion activity, in which students must …

Candidate Generative Ai Use In Pre‐Hire Employment Assessments: Self‐Reported Incidence And The Impact Of Warnings, Chet Robie, Timothy G. Wingate, Nataliya Baytalskaya, Hilary Butera

Business Faculty Publications

The rapid rise of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) poses new challenges for the validity and fairness of pre‐hire employment assessments. Across two applied studies using large applicant samples completing a standardized pre‐hire assessment (which includes both cognitive and non‐cognitive components), we examined the self‐reported incidence of GenAI assistance, and the impact of warning statements designed to deter such behavior. In Study 1 (N = 5675), conducted in Q3 2024, fewer than 3% of applicants reported using GenAI, though up to 19% reported using GenAI in combination with algorithmic resources (e.g., search engines). All three warning statements (consequences, educational, and reasoning) …

Time Invariant Variables In The Mundlak And Hausman-Taylor Panel Data Models, Badi H. Baltagi, Long Liu Mar 2026

Time Invariant Variables In The Mundlak And Hausman-Taylor Panel Data Models, Badi H. Baltagi, Long Liu

Center for Policy Research

This paper shows that the classic augmented Mundlak (1978) regression yields the between estimator for time-invariant variables. It is well known that the estimates of the time varying variables yield the fixed effects estimates. While the latter are consistent for this correlated random effects model, the between estimates are not. The between estimator is consistent only when the Hausman (1978) test does not reject the null based on between versus fixed effects. An alternative modified Hausman and Taylor (1981) estimator is proposed. Monte Carlo experiments are performed to compare various estimators under a correlated random effects as well as a …

Super-Resolution Remote Sensing Datasets For Application To Caral–Supe Archeological Sites Employing Sar And Dems, Jungrack Kim, Ramesh P. Singh Mar 2026

Super-Resolution Remote Sensing Datasets For Application To Caral–Supe Archeological Sites Employing Sar And Dems, Jungrack Kim, Ramesh P. Singh

Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science Faculty Articles and Research

Publicly accessible spaceborne remote sensing datasets often lack the spatial resolution required to reliably distinguish archeological features from their surrounding geomorphological contexts. In this study, we assess the potential of super-resolution (SR) products derived from multiple public-domain remote sensing datasets for a systematic archeological survey in the Caral–Supe region. We focus on Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and topographic datasets—including Sentinel-1, Advanced Land Observing Satellite (ALOS) Phased Array L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (PALSAR), and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs)—because of their capacity to detect subtle surface expressions and shallow subsurface structures obscured by vegetation or sediment cover. Using state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms, …
