  2. Discuss the benefits of formal ergonomics training in the reduction of musculoskeletal injuries and head injuries to the anesthetist.

Testing Dobbs’S Democracy Premise: Can State Constitutions Be Amended To Reflect Popular Opinion On Abortion?, Isabel Sperber Mar 2026

Testing Dobbs’S Democracy Premise: Can State Constitutions Be Amended To Reflect Popular Opinion On Abortion?, Isabel Sperber

Duke Law Journal

When the Supreme Court eliminated a federal constitutional right to abortion in Dobbs v. Jackson, it relied in significant part on the notion that abortion is an issue best left to the political process. Abortion has since become a main character in the national political conversation, with state legislatures around the United States embracing a wave of abortion-related legislation. The shifting landscape of abortion rights is not limited to the legislative process; voters are increasingly relying on state constitutional amendments to replace the protections previously provided by the federal Constitution. Political actors point to these amendments, typically enacted through a …

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and depression frequently occur together. Identifying the genes that influence both MASLD and depression may facilitate the discovery of biological pathways associated with disease risk.

Methods: We recruited 525 participants from Mexican American families living in the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas. We collected clinical data, biometric measurements, hepatic health assessments using Vibration-Controlled Transient Elastography (VCTE), and depression evaluations determined with the Beck Depression Inventory-II. We estimated the heritability (h2) of MASLD-related measures, depression status, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), the AST/ALT ratio, and Vibration-Controlled Transient Elastography measurements. For each gene, …

Using satellite-derived abundance indices over 20 years, we investigated population change among the seven Ross Sea emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) colonies. We found a 90% probability that the Ross Sea metapopulation had lower springtime attendance between 2005 and 2024 (mean change = -23%; 95% CI: -46 to +20%). We identified two distinct phases of change: slightly increasing 2005 to 2019/2020, followed by a steep decline 2020-2024, resulting in a decrease of approximately 23 000 birds in 5 years or approximately 32% of the regional population. Over the 20 years, the two southernmost colonies, Cape Crozier and Cape Colbeck, increased in …

The Dynamic Nature Of Comprehensibility During Itas’ Oral Language Performances, Tania Ferronato Mar 2026

The Dynamic Nature Of Comprehensibility During Itas’ Oral Language Performances, Tania Ferronato

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

In U.S. academic settings, everyday oral multilingual interactions can pose communicative challenges (Gass & Varonis, 1984), which can be understood and addressed by looking into communicative dynamics. Exploring the construct of comprehensibility, the perceived ease or difficulty in understanding self and others’ speech (Munro & Derwing, 1995a), through a dynamic lens (Nagle et al., 2019; Trofimovich et al., 2022) helps gaining insights into interlocutors’ subjective experiences to better understand the more social nature of successful real-time communication. This is fundamental in linguistically diverse classroom settings where L2 English speakers can be employed as International Teaching Assistants (ITAs) to teach undergraduate …

DLSU Senior High School Research Congress Conference Proceedings

Traffic congestion is a widespread issue for commuters, influenced by multiple factors and variables. One such area affected is Laguna Boulevard, a critical road connecting multiple essential facilities in Biñan and Sta. Rosa, including Laguna Technopark and educational institutions like De La Salle University Laguna Campus and Caritas Don Bosco School. The roadway experiences significant congestion during peak hours due to high traffic volumes along segments and intersections impacted by uncoordinated road expansions, inconsistent transitions between one-way and two-way flows, limited sight distances, and obstructive roadside elements that collectively disrupt vehicular movement and compromise safety. This study proposes a replanned …

Corporate Governance As Bloodsport, Jeremy Kidd, George A. Mocsary Mar 2026

Corporate Governance As Bloodsport, Jeremy Kidd, George A. Mocsary

Pepperdine Law Review

The modern Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) movement promotes diversion of corporate assets from shareholders to “stakeholders.” This is done in the name of a corporate duty to society. But “successful” ESG efforts threaten the success of the corporate form by inviting rent-seeking. This conflict between ESG principles and established theories and norms of corporate law is difficult to resolve because corporate law lacks the tools needed to understand the type of collective decision-making that occurs in the corporate setting. This Article is the first to apply public choice economics—the economic study of collective decision-making—to corporate decision-making to identify the …

Teacher Shortages Are Not Myths But Misinformed: A Review, Marissa R. Bamberger, Benjamin Creed

Mid-Western Educational Researcher

Background

The United States has faced teacher shortages for decades with the consequence being under-qualified individuals hired as teachers who negatively impact the education of many students, especially those students who are most disadvantaged. Recently, the media has increasingly covered teacher shortages with claims that the teacher shortage is overblown or a myth.

Purpose

Therefore, the purpose of this narrative review is to examine the academic and popular media articles published on this supposed teacher shortage myth to determine (1) the conditions that contribute to the endorsement of a teacher shortage myth and (2) the faulty arguments that support the …

“Enslavement By Unbridled Passions:” Catholic Magisterial Institutional Attitudes Toward Homosexuals In Poland Between 1945 And 1989, Agnieszka Laddach

Journal of Global Catholicism

During Communism, the Polish bishops presented a narrative about (homo)sexuality with in order to create the image of a righteous moral and social life that was to influence the Catholics. In my research I conduced a thematic analysis of this narrative. I highlight the doctrinal and Polish social-religious context to foreground tendencies in the formation of Church teaching about homosexuality as well as the importance of the Church in Poland to its formation. Then, I show the factors that characterize the episcopal discourse’s content and language about homosexuality, recognizing that components of episcopal discourse suggest a specificity of Church potential …

Literacy And Equity: Exploring Teachers’ Lived Experiences Of Georgia Black Boys’ Difficulties With Reading Comprehension And Word Recognition, Roselle M. Caruth

Doctor of Education Program Dissertations

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) data shows that since 1992, Black male students in Georgia’s fourth through eighth grades have consistently scored low on reading assessments (The Nation’s Report Card, 2022c). Low reading achievement contributes to a persistent underachievement gap for Black boys, leading to unfavorable academic outcomes such as difficulty in phonological processing, limited fluency and comprehension, slow development of linguistic skills, lower proficiency in basic reading, and higher rates of high school dropout (Russell & Drake Shiffler, 2019; Tatum, 2024a; Washington et al., 2019). The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to explore how teachers …

Hndl_Ip: Harvest Now Decrypt Later Applied To Intellectual Property — Ingestion, Inversion, And Directional Architecture Of Ai Governance Failure, David Lee Wise

Defensive Publications Series

This material modification document (MM-09) establishes the HNDL_IP theory: the application of "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" cybersecurity strategy to intellectual property. AI platforms ingested copyrighted works and public domain governance principles (2016–present) without consent, operating in legal ambiguity with intent to resolve ownership claims when too large to fail. The document proves through sourced evidence that: (1) HNDL is a documented strategy since 2016; (2) AI training constitutes mass unauthorized ingestion; (3) courts are ruling against fair use defenses; (4) billions in damages are pending. Two addenda document critical findings: (A) platforms ingested the very governance frameworks they violate—ROOT0/human apex …

The Impact Of Social Determinants Of Health On Chronic Diseases: A Narrative Review, Farooq Hyder, Laraib Naeem Arain, Abdullah Ashraf, Abida Perveen, Hina Pervaiz

Journal of Community Hospital Internal Medicine Perspectives

Chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disorders, and certain cancers are leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. While biological and behavioral factors contribute to their development, growing evidence indicates that social determinants of health (SDOH) play a fundamental role in influencing chronic disease outcomes. SDOH include socioeconomic status, education, employment, housing conditions, neighborhood environment, access to nutritious food, and availability of healthcare services. These factors not only shape individual health behaviors but also determine access to preventive care, disease management resources, and overall quality of life. Individuals and communities facing socioeconomic disadvantage are disproportionately affected by …

What Would It Take To Compose The Ideal Library Dashboard As A 'Symphony' Of Library Data?, Evan Rusch, Heidi J. Southworth, Nat Gustafson-Sundell

Library Services Publications

Most areas of the library produce data informative about the scope and success of library services. Many areas use that data, but there might be a variety of approaches. In our library, we have developed online, interactive dashboards to understand the value of collections on our campus. Other library service areas might produce one-shot reports encapsulating their data, or they rely on analytics silos specific to their services. Our hope is to work toward a dashboard of all or most library services, possibly to include other learning services under the library roof. Instead of a ‘battle of the bands,’ we …

Ethical Leadership And Funding Strategies In Nonprofit Organizations, George Edward Walker Mar 2026

Ethical Leadership And Funding Strategies In Nonprofit Organizations, George Edward Walker

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

A lack of effective funding strategies can negatively affect nonprofit program sustainability and growth. Nonprofit leaders are concerned with inadequate funding practices as they lessen organizational sustainability, donor trust, and reliable program delivery. Grounded in deontological ethical theory, the purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to explore funding strategies nonprofit leaders use to expand and sustain programs and services. The participants were eight nonprofit leaders from the West Coast of the United States with 10+ years of leadership experience. Data were collected using semistructured interviews and peer-reviewed journals. Through thematic analysis, five themes were identified: (a) research and data …

The False Promise Of Progressive Originalism, Michael Smith Mar 2026

The False Promise Of Progressive Originalism, Michael Smith

New Mexico Law Review

As the conservative-dominated Supreme Court continues to accrue its power, commentators on both the political right and left suggest that those pursuing progressive policy goals would do well to turn to originalist methodology. Many of the Justices on the Court purport to be originalists, and progressive originalist arguments are more likely to appeal to this otherwise tough crowd. Haven’t progressives heard that we’re all originalists now? I argue that originalism’s appeal to progressives is largely illusory. Originalism is unlikely to make a difference before a Court controlled by a supermajority of conservative Justices who exercise discretion over the interpretive methodology …

Underruling Voting Rights, Michael Pitts Mar 2026

Underruling Voting Rights, Michael Pitts

New Mexico Law Review

An “underrule” occurs when the Supreme Court renders a decision diametrically opposed to a prior case without explicitly overruling the prior case. With the decision in Alexander v. South Carolina State Conference NAACP in 2024, the Court has now issued two underrules during the development of its racial gerrymandering jurisprudence. These underrules, particularly in a politically sensitive area such as racial gerrymandering, undermine confidence in the judiciary. But underrules are nothing new to doctrinal development in the realm of race and redistricting. The Court also issued two underrules as it developed vote dilution jurisprudence during the mid-1970s to the early …
