Application Of The Multi-Theory Model To Determine Predictors Of Initiating And Sustaining Stress Management Behaviors In Undergraduate College Students, Bishoy T. Samuel, Joshua Mann, Michael Welsch, Manoj Sharma, Vinayak K. Nahar
Journal of Public Health in the Deep South
Background: Undergraduate college students face stress and concomitant mental health issues that can be mitigated by proper stress management behavior.
Purpose: This article examines the multi-theory model (MTM) of health behavior as a predictor of change in the primary outcomes of initiation and sustenance of relaxation-seeking behavior in undergraduate college students for the purposes of stress mitigation. The two main research hypotheses tested were that (a) participatory dialogue, behavioral confidence, and change in physical environment have statistically significant effects on initiation of behavioral change, and (b) emotional transformation, practice for change, and change in social environment have statistically significant effects …
Empowering Educators With Generative Ai In Higher Education: Design Patterns For Visible Learning, Jeanne Charles
Empowering Educators With Generative Ai In Higher Education: Design Patterns For Visible Learning, Jeanne Charles
Essays in Education
A student submits a paper that reads smooth and confident. With generative AI, that polish no longer proves learning. Higher education now needs course designs that keep student thinking visible and assessable.
This literature review synthesizes 39 empirical studies (2024 through early 2026) on generative AI in higher education. It treats 22 learner-facing classroom studies as design cases and codes task type, permitted AI use, instructor guardrails, and measured outcomes. It uses the remaining studies to situate adoption, policy, and academic integrity risks.
Across the evidence, outcomes follow the design more than the tool. AI supports learning when it expands …
Fusion Of Deep Learning And Stereo Depth Sensing For Real-Time Aerial Robotic Perception, Garrett Seyler
Fusion Of Deep Learning And Stereo Depth Sensing For Real-Time Aerial Robotic Perception, Garrett Seyler
Student Research Symposium (SRS)
This project presents a vision-based perception pipeline developed in the Space Robotics and Generative Estimation (SRGE) Lab to enable real-time sensing and classification for terrestrial robotic platforms. The system integrates a YOLOv11 object detection model with an Intel RealSense D455 depth camera to identify and estimate the range of aerial objects from live image streams. Trained on a dataset of over 2500 images, the model outputs spatially correlated detection and depth information to provide both semantic and geometric awareness. The primary contribution of this work is the development of a modular, vision-only framework that fuses deep learning inference with stereo …

This study presents a delta wing body for the UCAH Undergraduate Hypersonic Flight Design Competition, optimized for maximum low altitude range while meeting strict requirements on Mach number, stability, thermal survivability, size, mass, and maneuver capability. The configuration blends a blunted diamond nose with a moderately swept delta planform to harness vortex lift, preserve internal volume for structure and controls, and manage aeroheating through appropriate leading edge radius and skin thickness. Capability targets include sustained flight between Mach 5 and Mach 8 and a minimum 15 g turn, with a maximum diameter of 20 centimeters, a maximum mass of 45 …
Interferometric Constraints On Balmer-Line Limb Darkening In A-Type Supergiant Stars, Benjamin Katz
Interferometric Constraints On Balmer-Line Limb Darkening In A-Type Supergiant Stars, Benjamin Katz
Student Research Symposium (SRS)
Only one A-type supergiant, Deneb, has a measured angular diameter from long-baseline interferometric measurements. The next two brightest A-type supergiants, η Leo and ν Cep, are expected to have angular diameters below 1 milliarcsecond, well matched for the angular resolution of intensity interferometry with Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescope (IACT) arrays, such as VERITAS. While VERITAS has measured stars in a wide (20 nm) band, measurements in a very narrow band containing only the Hδ line have not been made. To predict the expected squared visibility across this line, we constructed stellar atmosphere models for η Leo and ν Cep. Here …
Low Temperature Plasma Simulation Using The Lattice Boltzmann Method, Shepard Summers, Christopher Anderson
Low Temperature Plasma Simulation Using The Lattice Boltzmann Method, Shepard Summers, Christopher Anderson
Student Research Symposium (SRS)
Pulsed Low-Temperature Plasma (LTP) has become a subject of interest in various fields, including propulsion, material processing, and medical technology. LTP flows are challenging to accurately simulate due to their physical complexities and multiscale nature, spanning scales ranging from meters on the system level to nanoscale when investigating the interactions between ions and electrons. The conventional models for simulating LTP flow are not able to handle this wide range of scales in a computationally efficient manner. The Boltzmann method, which is rooted in kinetic theory rather than Newtonian, can efficiently tackle the multiscale properties of LTP flow by directly solving …

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity
Background: Evidence on lower-limb strength, explosive power and bilateral asymmetry in competitive fencing is fragmented, and the relative impact of general neuromuscular capacity versus targeted training interventions remains unclear. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to provide a multidimensional, evidence-based synthesis of data on strength, power, and bilateral asymmetry of the lower limbs in professional fencers. Materials and methods: Following PRISMA 2020 (PROSPERO CRD420251041007), six databases were searched by 31 January 2025. Forty studies of fencers aged ≥ 12 years met the inclusion criteria. Three domain-specific random-effects meta-analyses (DerSimonian–Laird) were conducted: (1) integrated strength and power across …

The Secret Sauce: How Philadelphia’S 600 Nested Geographic Market Areas Blend Human Judgment And Augmented Intelligence, Bindi Shakya Cpe, Msc, Jimmy Williams, Alex Raju
GIS/ValuationTechnologies Conference 2026
As we all know, in our industry, it’s all about location, location and location. Philadelphia’s Geographic Market Areas (GMAs) exemplify what we call Augmented Intelligence—the fusion of human expertise and analytical systems to map how real markets behave. Rather than relying on automated clustering or static neighborhood definitions, Philadelphia’s GMAs are built through iterative collaboration between the Mass Appraisal (Modeling) team, Property Evaluators, GIS dept, and management, supported by regression feedback, data analysis, and geo-visual dashboards. Emerging from the informed judgment of evaluators, supervisors, and administrators, these market areas formalize decades of local expertise into a structured, data-driven geography—bridging human …

Mass Spectrometry-Based Metabolomics For Studying Gut Microbiota-Derived Metabolites In Biological Samples, Ya-Ting Lin, Huai-Hsuan Chiu, Chih-Ning Cheng, Ching-Hua Kuo
Journal of Food and Drug Analysis
Gut microbiota produces a wide range of metabolites and plays a critical role in maintaining host health. Dysregulation of these metabolites can influence host metabolism through systemic circulation, contributing to the development of various diseases, including immunological, neurological and cancer-related disorders. Chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as a powerful analytical approach, offering high sensitivity and resolution for studying gut microbiota-related metabolites. This review provides a comprehensive overview of chromatographic MS-based methods applied to the study of the gut microbial metabolome. We summarize strategies for sample collection, storage, and preparation of commonly analyzed sample types, including feces, plasma/serum, …
Feather And Freedom: A Fabled Land In The Mind, Yuan Tao
Feather And Freedom: A Fabled Land In The Mind, Yuan Tao
Living in Languages
Set in the deceptively tranquil Honest Town, “The Feather of Sister Zandan” is narrated from the perspective of Zaan, a younger brother, revealing his complicated feelings toward his sister. Written in a fable-like style infused with magical realism, the story explores the tension between restraint and longing, culminating in an abrupt and poignant ending that evokes the emotional sting of an O. Henry-style twist. The short story won the Gemini Prize for Short Fiction of China in 2021. According to the award citation, Lan Du’s writing demonstrates emotional depth, dazzling imagination, and striking narrative tension. Her storytelling defies conventional …

College Football Free Agency: The Transactional Nature Of Big-Time College Football Recruiting, Chris Corr, Branden Johnson, Amanda L. Paule-Koba
Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics
This study explored how the transfer portal has transformed college football recruiting by disrupting traditional relationship-based practices and accelerating the shift toward a transactional performance-driven model. Drawing on Bourdieu’s concepts of habitus, field, and capital, the research examines how recruiting coordinators navigate evolving pressures around talent acquisition, NIL compensation, and compressed recruiting timelines. Findings from comprehensive interviews with five Power-4 recruiting personnel reveal that relationships are increasingly leveraged for short-term gain. The findings of this study indicate the transfer portal has created an opaque high-stakes marketplace where trust is limited, valuation is speculative, and institutional pedigree/resources heavily influence opportunities. The …

Friend Or Foe? Generative Ai And Legal Writing, Peter Nemerovski
Friend Or Foe? Generative Ai And Legal Writing, Peter Nemerovski
Maine Law Review
Much has been made in recent years of the capabilities of generative artificial intelligence ("Generative AI") programs in performing law-related tasks. We have learned, for example, that OpenAI's product, GPT-4, is capable of passing the Uniform Bar Exam with flying colors. ChatGPT also earned passing grades on the final exams in four different law school courses. Another study found that "AI assistance consistently induced large declines in the amount of time taken to complete tasks" like drafting complaints, contracts, and employee handbook sections. These and other success stories have led commentators to predict that Generative AI programs "will revolutionize what …
The Arbitration Web Ensnaring Every Consumer: The Next Evolution In Corporate Strategy To Compel Arbitration, Michael Conklin
The Arbitration Web Ensnaring Every Consumer: The Next Evolution In Corporate Strategy To Compel Arbitration, Michael Conklin
Maine Law Review
This first-of-its-kind Article uses a novel hypothetical to explore the expanding role of compelled arbitration. The hypothetical involves numerous large corporations agreeing to cross-reference each other in their arbitration agreements, thus attempting to create a massive arbitration web ensnaring nearly every American and allowing corporations to compel arbitration against parties with whom they never interacted. This Article presents the case that courts might enforce such a scheme based on the judicial trend toward ever-expanding compelled arbitration jurisprudence, the docket-clearing incentives faced by judges, existing case law allowing some non-signatories to enforce arbitration agreements, the strong assumption in favor of arbitration, …
