Modified Anodic Stripping Voltammetry For In Situ Analysis Of Liquid Metal Composition In Molten Salt Electrorefining Systems, James H. Manner Apr 2026

Modified Anodic Stripping Voltammetry For In Situ Analysis Of Liquid Metal Composition In Molten Salt Electrorefining Systems, James H. Manner

Reviews, Analyses, and Instructional Studies in Electrochemistry (RAISE)

The development of in-situ analytical techniques for high-temperature molten salt systems is critical for advancing electrorefining in nuclear fuel recycling and metallurgical purification. This study proposes Modified Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (MASV), using a “dip-and-strip” approach where a tungsten electrode captures molten Sn–Ni alloy before stripping in LiCl–KCl–CaCl₂ at 415 °C. OCP results showed rapid loss of the metal layer due to poor wetting, and stripping peaks gave compositions inconsistent with the alloy, likely reflecting Sn/Sn²⁺ and Sn²⁺/Sn⁴⁺ redox processes. These results highlight interfacial limitations and the need for improved electrode materials and surface modification.

This project investigates employers' expectations of universities and graduates, as well as the critical skills and strategies that graduates require to be employable after graduation. A comprehensive experiential learning course must address academic, career, and personal readiness while acknowledging the complexity of this transition, including the change from college to the workplace. The Business Internship Course is intended to assist undergraduate business students in their …

3Ω Thermal Transport In Atomically Thin Materials, Yiwei Le Apr 2026

3Ω Thermal Transport In Atomically Thin Materials, Yiwei Le

Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Theses and Dissertations

Since the discovery of graphene, research on two-dimensional (2D) materials has become a central focus of condensed matter physics. While an enormous number and variety of investigations of their electrical, optical, and mechanical properties have been undertaken, their thermal properties remain comparatively underexplored, despite the importance for understanding low-energy excitations and phase transitions. Here, we introduce an extension of the 3ω method thermal measurement technique to the 2D limit of materials. We develop analytical models of thermal transport in the 3ω geometry with boundary conditions tailored for suspended 2D flakes. We then experimentally confirm the feasibility of this approach in …

The Role Of Interactions In Moiré Quantum Materials, Liangtao Peng Apr 2026

The Role Of Interactions In Moiré Quantum Materials, Liangtao Peng

Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Theses and Dissertations

Moiré quantum materials have emerged as a highly tunable platform for studying strongly interacting electrons in low dimensions. By twisting or lattice-mismatching atomically thin crystals, one can generate long-wavelength moiré superlattices that reconstruct the electronic bands, produce narrow bandwidths, and greatly enhance the importance of Coulomb interactions. As a result, these systems host a wide range of correlated phenomena, including symmetry breaking, magnetism, and superconductivity. This dissertation develops and applies Green's-function-based many-body methods to understand the role of interactions in moiré quantum materials. This dissertation consists of four chapters. The first chapter introduces moiré quantum materials and reviews the basic …

Extraction And Interpretation Of Eeg Features For Diagnosis And Severity Prediction Of Ad And Ftd Using Deep Learning, Tuan Vo

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 2020 - Present

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia and is characterized by progressive cognitive decline and memory impairment. Frontotemporal dementia (FTD), the second most prevalent form, primarily affects the frontal and temporal lobes and often leads to changes in personality, behavior, and language. Due to overlapping clinical symptoms, FTD is frequently misdiagnosed as AD. Electroencephalography (EEG) offers a portable, non-invasive, and cost-effective method for studying brain activity; however, its diagnostic utility for differentiating dementia subtypes is limited by signal complexity and noise. In this dissertation, I propose an EEG-based feature extraction framework that leverages deep learning to identify …

Distributed Authorship In Technologically Mediated Creativity, Patrick Carroll Dr Apr 2026

Distributed Authorship In Technologically Mediated Creativity, Patrick Carroll Dr

Staff Scholarship - Australia & Dubai

This paper examines the complex nature of authorship as it is reshaped within technologically mediated creativity. Drawing on theoretical perspectives on authorship, agency, and technological mediation, it argues against binary notions of artistic originality and instead frames the author as a “node” within a vast network of technological and cultural influences. Through two practice-based case studies—generative musical systems developed in Bitwig Studio’s The Grid, and the coding of an album-art generator in collaboration with OpenAI’s Codex—the paper explores how different forms of uncertainty emerge when creative decision-making is partially delegated to systems that behave unpredictably or autonomously. In these contexts, …

Ai-Driven Detection Of Failure Modes In Thermoplastic Composites Using Acoustic Emission Techniques, M. M. Shahzamanian, Li Ai, Paul Ziehl

Civil Engineering Faculty Publications

Composite materials in aircraft structures can suffer impact damage that leaves barely visible yet structurally significant defects, which degrade mechanical performance, especially under compressive loads. Existing methods for identifying failure modes in compression after impact (CAI) tests using acoustic emission (AE) data are limited in accuracy and scope. This study introduces an approach combining AE sensing with a heterogeneous ensemble convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect and classify failure mechanisms in impacted composite specimens. The novelty of this work lies in employing Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) wavelet images, produced through continuous wavelet transform (CWT) of AE signals, as inputs …

A landlord bank commenced a post-foreclosure holdover proceeding under RPAPL § 713(5). After answers were filed, a subsequent purchaser of the property moved to be substituted as petitioner and for use and occupancy pendente lite. The court granted the substitution, finding the original landlord had standing at commencement and the new landlord met CPLR § 1018 requirements. However, the court denied the request for use and occupancy, as the statutory conditions under RPAPL § 745 for such an order had not yet been met. The new landlord bears the burden of proving proper commencement at trial.

Cineture: The Trans(Inter)Mediality And Socio-Cultural Mobility Between Iran And The Us, Naghmeh Esmaeilpour

CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture

Literature and film have proven to be influential socio-cultural mediums, facilitating interactions and counteractions between nations where politics often fail to do so. Introducing cineture as a transmedial genre, this article is situated at the intersections of glocalized culture, and Iranian-American studies by considering literature and film as the contact zone between Iranians and Americans. Cineture, the combination of cinema and literature, refers to the circulation of cultures through its specification of film-text transmediation. The application of cineture demonstrates the combination and blending of literary and cinematic works leading to cross the “center and periphery dichotomy.” To study cineture …

“No (My Parents Can’T Know I’M Trans)…For Now:" Resisting Anti-Transgender Backlash In Schools Through A Policy Experiment, Lee Airton, Mik Turje

Journal of Queer and Trans Studies in Education

This From the Field account describes an intervention we and our colleagues offered in the Canadian culture war surrounding transgender children and youth, as clinical and research experts on K-12 education policy and supports for transgender youth and their parents. In 2023, following comprehensive review by K-12 school administrators, lawyers and experts in child welfare, we released No For Now (NFN). NFN responded to the impending passage of laws which directly harm transgender youth by essentially forcing them to be outed to potentially unsupportive parents. We suggest that NFN enacts an experimental kind of policy-based resistance to these laws and …

Tile often goes to waste before material failure, adding to the waste the construction industry creates. Ceramic tiles should be seen as a prized building material, especially in a time when conservation is essential for our planet's health. Yet our current building practices too often leave them buried in the millions of tons of construction waste we produce each year, well before they need to be. Which is why it is necessary to consider new ways of designing a system for adhering tiles that allows them to be preserved. In this paper, I developed a new tile system based on …

Improving Monitoring And Documentation Of Long-Acting Injectable Antipsychotic Adherence In Patients With Schizophrenia Through Staff Education And Refill History Review, Stacy Ann Bruce Apr 2026

Improving Monitoring And Documentation Of Long-Acting Injectable Antipsychotic Adherence In Patients With Schizophrenia Through Staff Education And Refill History Review, Stacy Ann Bruce

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder associated with relapse, hospitalization, and poor outcomes when medication adherence is suboptimal. Nonadherence increases morbidity and healthcare utilization (World Health Organization, 2022; Zhao et al., 2025). Long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics improve adherence and reduce hospitalization, but inconsistent monitoring and documentation in outpatient settings hinder early identification of missed doses (Lieslehto et al., 2022). This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement project aimed to evaluate whether staff education and structured refill-monitoring processes improve identification and documentation of nonadherence to LAI antipsychotics. Using Kotter’s Change Management Model and the Plan-Do-Study-Act framework, the project focused on …
