Applying The Updated Renfrew Error Classification And Osteopathic Principles To Radiology Interpretation: A Case-Based Approach, Michaelyn Cornish, Joel Koshy, Ryan Arias
Research Day
Background: Diagnostic errors in radiology can lead to delayed or incorrect diagnoses. The updated Renfrew error classification system (updated by Kim and Mansfield in 2014) is a commonly cited framework for classifying diagnostic errors in radiology. Osteopathic medicine principles, on the other hand, provide a more general framework that focuses on a whole-person, patient-centered approach to diagnosis and interpretation in medicine. This study examines three documented cases of diagnostic errors in radiology through the lens of both frameworks to propose strategies for error reduction.
Methods: Three radiology cases with documented errors were analyzed and classified according to the …

Exploring Attentional Mechanisms Of Speech-Gesture Integration Across Development, Lisa Gallo, Elizabeth Wakefield
Undergraduate Research and Engagement Symposium
Gestures are hand movements that accompany speech and convey information. They can support communication and learning, but not everyone benefits equally. One factor may be the ability to integrate gesture with speech. This study examines the role of visual attention in speech-gesture integration across development using behavioral measures and eye tracking. Thirty adults and thirty 6- to 10-year-olds will watch videos of a narrator gesturing while speaking and answering questions. Analyses will explore attentional mechanisms underlying integration. Findings could inform educational strategies, optimizing learning through gestures, especially as children's reliance on visual attention differs from adults.

The unique capacity of inguinal white adipose tissue (iWAT) to brown has emerged as a promising therapeutic approach for treating obesity and its adverse complications. Both white and beige adipose arise from a subpopulation of perivascular adipocyte progenitor cells (APC) expressing SM22 (Smooth Muscle Protein 22-Alpha). However, the early signaling events controlling ACP differentiation to beige adipocytes are still unknown.
To uncover the stromal cells heterogeneity during beige adipogenesis, we performed a single cell RNA-sequencing of iWAT under control condition, treatment with β3-adrenergic receptor (ADRB3) agonist or exposure to cold. ScRNA-seq revealed the landscape of APCs undergoing beige adipogenesis. We …

Investigating The Impact Of Waterhead, Time And Temperature On Dam Displacement: Application Of Computer Aided Models, Maaz Abdullah
Investigating The Impact Of Waterhead, Time And Temperature On Dam Displacement: Application Of Computer Aided Models, Maaz Abdullah
AUIQ Technical Engineering Science
Dam displacement is a crucial indicator for assessing the safety of a concrete dam through structural health monitoring. Since the displacement data exhibits a non-linear and complex relationship with influencing factors like waterhead, time and temperature, machine learning models are deployed to accurately predict dam displacement. Furthermore, the limited availability of monitored data in the majority of the dams renders the studies conducted with a large number of observations valueless. In order to address the aforementioned issues, this study proposes a feature selection approach to predict dam displacement by examining the ability of four ensemble machine learning models on different …
