Cognitive Fatigue Detection System For Critical Operational Environments, Giannis Tziakouris, Nadhem J Al-Fardan Aug 2025

Cognitive Fatigue Detection System For Critical Operational Environments, Giannis Tziakouris, Nadhem J Al-Fardan

Defensive Publications Series

In high-stakes operational environments that involve different network operations/management teams, such as security operations centers (SOCs), network operations centers (NOCs), and Incident Response (IR) teams, sustained vigilance and cognitive clarity are critical. Fatigue and cognitive overload can significantly compromise situational awareness, delay threat detection, and can lead to the dismissal of legitimate alerts or the mis-prioritization of critical response actions. To address such issues, a comprehensive system and method are proposed herein that provide for detecting operator fatigue in mission-critical environments by leveraging the fusion of cognitive load analytics with real-time behavioral telemetry. The proposed system integrates biometric monitoring, such …

Additionally, the revisions involved the integration, development, and deletion of certain diagnostic criteria related to …

Spending In Islam: Nurturing And Education, Sereen Ashour, “Mohammad Adnan” Al-Aishat, Abdullah Hardan, Yousef Saadeh

Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series

Islam urges its followers to spend on their parents, offspring, and lineage. This paper addresses spending in the way of Islam for its protection (preserving its authenticity), advocacy (Da’wah), and to support its adherents against those who manifest enmity towards it. Thus, spending aims to instill in Muslims the practice of giving for the sake of their faith and to educate them about the principles of this type of spending. Da’wah to Islam has been associated with calls to spend in the way of Allah to seek His satisfaction and pleasure. Even before the establishment of an Islamic state, or …

Modeling, Control, And Learning For Whole-Body Manipulation With Large-Scale Soft Robots, Curtis C. Johnson Aug 2025

Modeling, Control, And Learning For Whole-Body Manipulation With Large-Scale Soft Robots, Curtis C. Johnson

Theses and Dissertations

This dissertation addresses the challenge of enabling soft robots to perform contact-rich manipulation tasks by overcoming limitations in hardware, modeling, control, and learning. First, we present hardware advancements with PneuDrive, a pneumatic control system for actuating soft robots. We also introduce Baloo, a hybrid soft-rigid robotic torso which achieves a single-arm payload capacity of 19.3 kg and robust whole-body grasping capabilities. We also develop a full-body tactile sensing system enabling piezoresistive sensor arrays to cover large areas (1 square meter) with over 8000 distributed sensing points. Second, we focus on developing tractable dynamic models based on the Recursive Newton-Euler algorithm …

Many adolescents report feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, and hopeless in the face of global climate change. These feelings are both valid and antithetical to the necessary hope and courage it takes to address real-world environmental crises and contribute to meaningful societal impact.
