The Effect Of A Multiple Intelligences Theory-Based Program On Tenth-Grade Students' Reading Comprehension Skills In Jordan, Musa Mayyas
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This study investigated the effect of a multiple intelligences theory-based program on tenth-grade students' reading comprehension skills in Jordan. The researcher used a quasi-experimental design in which the participants were divided into four groups. The participants, chosen through purposeful sampling, consisted of 110 male and female tenth-grade students from two different schools in the Ramtha Directorate of Education. The first control group consisted of 28 female students, while the first experimental group included 27 female students from the same school. The second control group comprised 24 male students, whereas the second experimental group consisted of 31 male students from the …
The Effect Of The (Pq4r) Strategy On Seventh Grade Students' Acquisition Of Mathematical Concepts, Ali Abu Sabra
The Effect Of The (Pq4r) Strategy On Seventh Grade Students' Acquisition Of Mathematical Concepts, Ali Abu Sabra
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This study aimed to investigate the effect of the PQ4R strategy on the acquisition of basic mathematical concepts among seventh-grade students. To achieve this purpose, seventh-grade students were deliberately selected from a school in the Qweismeh Directorate of Education in Amman. The sample was divided into two sections: an experimental group consisting of 35 students who studied according to the PQ4R strategy, and a control group consisting of 35 students who studied using the traditional method. After confirming the reliability and validity of the tests, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the acquisition of mathematical concepts …

The Impact Of A Drama-Based Instructional Program On The Speaking Performance Of Jordanian Efl Learners, Nesreen Ja'afreh, Dina Al-Jamal
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This study examines the effect of a drama-based role-play instructional program on the speaking performance of EFL Jordanian ninth-grade students. It aims to determine whether there are any statistically significant differences in students' speaking performance attributed to the drama-based instructional program (specifically, the role-play technique) in the post-test mean scores. A total of 40 participants were randomly assigned to two groups: the control group and the experimental group at That Rass Secondary School for Girls in the Southern Almazar Directorate of Education, Jordan, during the second semester of the academic year 2017-2018. For data collection, a pre/post speaking test and …

Animated Graphic Advertising And Its Effectiveness On The Internet, Ahmed Morsy
Animated Graphic Advertising And Its Effectiveness On The Internet, Ahmed Morsy
Jordan Journal of Applied Science-Humanities Series
This study explores animated graphic advertising, including its graphic elements such as photographs, shapes, texts, and drawings that overlap partially or completely. It creates dynamic movements accompanied by audio levels. The design relies on the senses of hearing and sight, providing a technical format that can attract attention and stimulate the interest of the audience, preparing them mentally to receive the advertisement message and be convinced of its content, ultimately leading to a positive response. Furthermore, it contributes to promoting the commercial viability of goods and services. Today, the internet is the most modern means of communication, offering several significant …

Transpositions: Reflections On Friendship And Nine Days In October With Peter Beilharz And Sian Supski, Christopher G. Robbins
Transpositions: Reflections On Friendship And Nine Days In October With Peter Beilharz And Sian Supski, Christopher G. Robbins
Impact: A Journal of Community and Cultural Inquiry in Education
In this essay, the author uses the idea of transposition to reflect on Peter Beilharz and Sian Supski's historic visit to Eastern Michigan University and southeast Michigan in October 2024. Transposition is used to deprivatize Robbins's reflections to consider broader and more generalizable concerns relative to pedagogy and educational philosophy. Further, transposition, in this regard, provided a way to reflect on the (increased) importance of friendship in academia.

Forging Desire Paths In Undesirable Times, Rachel Dick
Forging Desire Paths In Undesirable Times, Rachel Dick
Impact: A Journal of Community and Cultural Inquiry in Education
Drawing on the visit of Dr. Peter Beilharz and Dr. Sian Supski to Eastern Michigan University in October 2024, this essay explores the relationship between desire paths and our intersectional identities. Examining the impact of modernity on our lived experiences and conceptions of utopia, the essay explores the reality of the paths we must navigate daily to function in a society built on systems of power and oppression. Ultimately, the essay argues that marginalized individuals must draw survivance and insurgent lines, rather than truly desirable lines, in order to strive towards utopia.

Desire Paths: The Visible And Invisible, Audrey Farrugia
Impact: A Journal of Community and Cultural Inquiry in Education
This paper explores the concept of desire paths, unplanned routes created by people to move quickly through an environment, and their relationship to inclusivity and social justice. Building on Sian Supski’s public talk at Eastern Michigan University’s College of Education, sponsored by The Workshop for Community+Collaboration and the Morris Chair for Educational Transformation, which highlighted the use of desire paths in everyday life, this paper promotes the exploration of the unconventional and often invisible desire paths created and traveled by marginalized people.

Sowing The Seeds Of Utopia Collectively, From Australia To America And Everywhere In Between: A Methodology And Practice For Resistance And Emancipation, Rachelle F. Marshall
Impact: A Journal of Community and Cultural Inquiry in Education
This reflection on internationally renowned scholars Peter Beilharz and Sian Supski’s visit to Eastern Michigan University (EMU) in October 2024 presents utopia as a sociological methodology useful for research in educational studies. Presenting a brief introduction and exploration of the methodology, this article considers the cultural changes that are necessary to teach toward democratic, ecologically sustainable utopias compared to capitalist visions of utopia. As a starting point for further discussion, this personal reflection merely scratches the surface to provide a glimpse into the conditions that would underlie a democratic, ecologically sustainable utopia and serves to document a few of the …

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
INTRODUCTION: Patient satisfaction in healthcare is significantly influenced by nurse-patient interactions, where attributes like friendliness, courtesy, and effective communication play crucial roles. This study aims to identify specific components of these attributes that enhance patient satisfaction, providing insights for targeted interventions, such as communication training, to improve nurse-patient interactions and overall patient-centered care.
BACKGROUND: Patient satisfaction reflects how content patients feel with the care they receive, aligning their preferences and expectations with the healthcare provided. Nurses, who are pivotal in patient care, can greatly influence this experience. The friendliness and courtesy displayed by nurses not only foster trust but create …

Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
Background: New nurses experience stress and challenges transitioning from student to nurse (Crismon et al., 2021). Peer mentor programs provide emotional support for new graduate nurses during this time, helping to promote clinical competency, confidence, job satisfaction, and retention (Bowers, 2022; Maroone, 2023; Vidal & Olley, 2021). Despite the benefits, peer mentor initiatives are not widely adopted in healthcare settings (Reebals et al., 2021). Our program filled that gap by boosting morale and confidence by creating an emotionally supportive environment.
Methods: Mentor leaders (n=3) sought evidence-based sources and consulted with organizational wellness experts. The leaders trained senior nurses (n=12) in …
