Faith-Based Transnationalism: Conceptualizing The Role Of Religion In Transnational Families, Evangeline Katigbak-Montoya

Asia-Pacific Social Science Review

This research brief introduces the concept of “faith-based transnationalism,” or the cross-border travels of religious practices, beliefs, identities, and moralities that not only connect migrants and their left-behind families but also lead to the reconstitution of relationships, spirituality, and landscapes. Faith-based transnationalism is an important analytical framework in the study of the intersections of geographies of religion/faith and transnational migration. This is crucial in contemporary times given the unabated and continuing flows of migrants across international borders, with implications on reshaping identities, consocialities, and places.

All Works

Expected to be deployed in the early 2030s, sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks, with their high speed and integration with cutting-edge technology such as intelligent edge computing, expand the attack surface and face serious cyber threat risks such as Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs). This type of cyber attack can imitate benign network traffic and operate for long periods of time without being detected by traditional detection systems. This paper introduces LENS, a lightweight and explainable LLM-based network security framework designed to address this cybersecurity threat for 6G environments. LENS uses a fine-tuned DistilBERT model to convert raw network streams into natural …

Reworlding The Human: A Review Of Symbiotic Posthumanist Ecologies In Western Literature, Philosophy And Art, Asunción López-Varela Azcárate

Mabini Review

In recent decades, the interdisciplinary encounter between posthumanism and the environmental humanities has engendered rich intellectual terrain for rethinking the status of the human, the function of narrative, and the ethical imperatives of multispecies coexistence. The edited volume Symbiotic Posthumanist Ecologies in Western Literature, Philosophy and Art: Towards Theory and Practice (Peter Lang, 2023), curated by Peggy Karpouzou and Nikoleta Zampaki, contributes significantly to this dialogue. Organized in three thematic sections— “Framing the Symbiotic Posthumanist Ecologies,” “Symbiotic Posthumanist Ecologies in Literature and Art” and “Symbiotic Posthumanist Ecologies in Continental Philosophy”—the book weaves a cohesive tapestry that connects speculative fiction, ecological …

Traslación: From Mythos To Kairos, Johanne Randolf Andrada, Dominic Bautista Gonzales

Mabini Review

The pre-colonial Philippines was a vibrant archipelago filled with diverse faiths, ethnicities, and cultures, reflecting a rich blend of indigenous beliefs and practices. When Spanish colonization arrived, it dramatically transformed the religious landscape, introducing Christianity. Yet, remnants of pre-colonial spiritual traditions persisted, often merging with Catholic practices to create a distinct form of faith. This paper aims to explore the Traslación through various scholars. The focal point of this exploration is the Traslación, an annual event held every January 9 at Quiapo Church, which highlights the deep devotion many Filipinos have for the Black Nazarene. By drawing on both Western …

Isang Mungkahing Tipolohiya Ng Teolohiyang Pilipino, Mark Joseph Pascua Santos Sep 2025

Isang Mungkahing Tipolohiya Ng Teolohiyang Pilipino, Mark Joseph Pascua Santos

Mabini Review

Filipino Theology, as a Filipinization movement, has been around for more than five decades since 1970s, when theological works that consciously sought to explore the Filipinoness of theology as a discipline began to emerge. Despite this, up to the present, there has yet to be any typology that attempts to systematize the existing literature in the field. This study aims to propose a typology to address this gap. To this end, F.P.A Demeterio’s typology in Filipino Philosophy will be utilized as a model, along with Atoy Navarro’s structure of subfields within Bagong Kasaysayan. Using these two models, the researcher developed …
