The Role Of Regulatory T Cells In Ischemic Heart Disease Patients, Duha Alaa Hassan, Hayfaa Mahmood Fahad, Saad Fadhel Nassar
Al-Nisour Journal for Medical Sciences
Background: Regulatory T cells (Tregs) represent 5–10% of the total T cell population and are known as potent suppressors of the immune system. They are crucial for managing immune activation, ensuring peripheral tolerance, and supporting tissue repair and overall homeostasis. These cells are characterized by the expression of specific biomarkers, including CD4+, FOXP3+, and CD25+. While CD4 and CD25 were initially used for their identification, the discovery of CD25 on other T cell types led to a more precise evaluation of Tregs through the assessment of the intracellular Foxp3 transcription factor.
Objective: The primary goal of this study was to …

Honors Theses
Occupational therapy helps clients work toward their meaningful occupational goals. Within this career, a person’s roles and habits are also addressed and taken into account when creating intervention plans. Many individuals live in a multi-generational home, living with others of different generations, or even interacting with them in their daily lives. Intergenerational programming is designed to bring people of different generations together. Whether the client lives with someone from a different generation, or sees them in their life, it is vital to have an understanding of each other. Areas that can be addressed include mental health, cultural identity, social isolation …

Designing An Efficient Deduplication Algorithm For Audio Files In Cloud Storage, Ammar Zakzouk, Alaa Al Sebae, Hasan Hasan
Al-Esraa University College Journal for Engineering Sciences
Data duplication is a significant challenge in large-scale data storage systems, as it consumes storage space and impacts data organization, management, and processing. An optimal storage system effectively utilizes available storage space. To solve this problem, hash algorithms are employed to generate hash keys for files. Matching files have the same hash key. However, the hash key for two different files in the data may match, and this is what we refer to as a collision. The collision issue is related to the length of the hash key. As the length of the hash key increases, the probability of a …

Artificial Intelligence Approaches To Mitigating Network Congestion In Iot Systems, Aysar Hadi Oleiwi
Artificial Intelligence Approaches To Mitigating Network Congestion In Iot Systems, Aysar Hadi Oleiwi
Al-Esraa University College Journal for Engineering Sciences
The unprecedented explosion of Internet of Things (IOT) devices has elevated the requirements of the network infrastructures to unprecedented levels, causing severe congestion problems, especially in applications which demand low latency, high throughput, and real-time feedback. Static routing protocols, AQM, and TCP variants are some of the traditional mechanisms for congestion control that are unable to perform efficiently in dynamic and diverse IoT environments as they are reactive-based and inflexible. To this end, in this paper, we explore the promising ability of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods such as Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), Reinforcement Learning (RL), and their combination …

Examining Iot-Enhanced For Current Developments In Face Image Authentication (Fia) Methods And Their Drawbacks, Marwa Jamal Hadi, Emaan Ouudha Oraby
Al-Esraa University College Journal for Engineering Sciences
The quick development of IoT and facial image manipulation (FIM) algorithms, as well as the growth of their user-friendly applications, highlight the pressing need for manipulation detection methods. These techniques need to demonstrate how face photos have been altered and validate their legitimacy. The scientific community has recently taken notice of the phrase “DeepFakes” and methods for detecting them. Take note of the latest methods for identifying watermark-based face image modification as well. The important thing to remember is that every one of these methods has its own set of drawbacks. This study provides a brief introduction to face image …

Discriminative Regions And Adversarial Sensitivity In Cnn-Based Malware Image Classification, Anish Roy, Fabio Di Troia
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
The escalating prevalence of malware poses a significant threat to digital infrastructure, demanding robust yet efficient detection methods. In this study, we evaluate multiple Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures, including basic CNN, LeNet, AlexNet, GoogLeNet, and DenseNet, on a dataset of 11,000 malware images spanning 452 families. Our experiments demonstrate that CNN models can achieve reliable classification performance across both multiclass and binary tasks. However, we also uncover a critical weakness in that even minimal image perturbations, such as pixel modification lower than 1% of the total image pixels, drastically degrade accuracy and reveal CNNs’ fragility in adversarial settings. A …

System For Generating A Universal Transfer Function For Rendering Spatial Audio Content, Sinan Hersek, Dongeek Shin
System For Generating A Universal Transfer Function For Rendering Spatial Audio Content, Sinan Hersek, Dongeek Shin
Defensive Publications Series
This publication includes techniques to obtain universal head related transfer functions (HRTFs) by adapting generic HRTFs. The adaptation is performed by iteratively perturbing and fine tuning the latent space representation of the generic HRTFs. The tuning objective is to minimize the binaural localization error produced by the adapted HRTFs across a population of users. To estimate the binaural localization error, the system is configured to train a person-agnostic neural network binaural localization model that can estimate the direction of a sound source from binaural audio.
Automated Ball Impact Testing Apparatus For Electronic Displays, Maxim Sivov, Eugene Bykov, Joshua Aganad, Jared Baker, Venkata Mk Akula
Automated Ball Impact Testing Apparatus For Electronic Displays, Maxim Sivov, Eugene Bykov, Joshua Aganad, Jared Baker, Venkata Mk Akula
Defensive Publications Series
Manual ball drop testing for device displays can be prone to inconsistencies in drop height and location, which may lead to test variation. A disclosed system automates this process using a vertically-mounted motorized linear stage with an attached electromagnet to hold and release an impactor, for example, a steel ball. A user can input a desired drop height via a software-driven graphical user interface, which directs the linear stage to position the electromagnet at the specified height. The electromagnet is then deactivated to release the impactor onto the display under test. This approach can provide a repeatable and efficient method …
A Method For Reducing Power Consumption In Non-Terrestrial Networks Through Sim Polling Interval Management, Edison Chen
A Method For Reducing Power Consumption In Non-Terrestrial Networks Through Sim Polling Interval Management, Edison Chen
Defensive Publications Series
User equipment (UE) operating on non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) may experience increased power consumption from frequent, periodic polling of the subscriber identity module / universal integrated circuit card (SIM/UICC) for presence checks and proactive commands. This power consumption can be a factor in NTN scenarios where battery conservation is beneficial. A UE can reduce this power drain by adaptively controlling the SIM polling interval. For instance, when in an NTN mode, the UE can negotiate a new, longer polling interval with the SIM, and may propose an unlimited duration to suspend polling. If an unlimited interval is not supported, the UE …

The Effects Of Plastic Mulch And Irrigation On Hemp Chemistry And Leaf Endophytes, Allison Rietman, Connor Morozumi, Robert C. Pearce, Natalie Christian
Journal of Agricultural Hemp Research
As an emerging crop, cultivation techniques for industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) are still being developed and optimized. For example, irrigation and plastic mulching are some management practices that have been touted for their benefits in improving crop quality. Both techniques ensure ample water availability, which has often been attributed to improving hemp cannabinoid and terpene composition. In this study, we examined how supplemental irrigation implemented in a plastic mulch system influenced the cannabinoid and terpene profiles of one cultivar of CBD hemp, Lifter. We grew industrial hemp in field with plastic mulch and applied regular irrigation to one group …
