Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)
This work discusses about the topic as the two-way communication retrial inventory queue model, the (s, S) replenishment policy, immediate feedback, Bernoulli vacations, and impatient customers. The assumption we make is that arrivals follow a Markovian arrival process, and the server provides phase type services. When the server is idle and there is a positive inventory, an arriving customer immediately receives service. If not, arriving customers goes to orbit with infinite capacity. Only in the account of positive inventory the server renders rapid feedback for incoming call arrivals, otherwise customer departs. Outgoing calls will only be made by the server …

Standardizing Assessment Of Clinical Performance In Physical Therapy: From Good Intentions To Shared Standards, Arvie Vitente, Carmina Rafael, Rolando Lazaro
Rehabilitation Sciences Department Faculty Articles
Clinical education is the crucible in which physical therapy students integrate knowledge, skills, and professional judgment into safe, ethical, and person-centered practice. Yet globally, the assessment of clinical performance remains highly variable, shaped by disparate tools, rubrics, and levels of assessor preparation. While several countries have adopted nationally standardized approaches to clinical assessment, many contexts—including the Philippines—continue to rely on locally developed or institution-specific systems, resulting in inconsistent expectations, inequitable student experiences, and limited capacity for benchmarking, research, and quality improvement. This editorial argues that good intentions alone are insufficient and that the profession must move toward shared, trustworthy standards …

(R2164) The Nature Of The Big Bang Singularity In Inhomogeneous Szekeres Cosmological Frameworks, Ahmed M. Al-Haysah, Abdul-Majeed Al-Izeri
Applications and Applied Mathematics: An International Journal (AAM)
Without killing vector fields, the Szekeres metric is an explicit example of an anisotropic and inhomogeneous solution to the Einstein equations. The inhomogeneous Szekeres cosmological models (ISCM) within the Big Bang singularity (BBS) are obtained. This indicates that the Szekeres solution represents a more general class of exact solutions. It is known to exhibit axial symmetry. We investigate a Big Bang theory of the cosmos, which unexpectedly predicts that the universe started at the so-called BBS a finite length of time ago. A growing number of astrophysical researchers are using inhomogeneous extensions of the Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) solution and, by extension, …

Each year, many neonates are born with genetic diagnoses that carry a range of prognoses. As the types and availability of genetic testing have expanded, neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) have served as "launching points" for their clinical application. Broad genetic testing has both improved diagnostic precision and expanded uncertainty. Genetic information may be explicitly uncertain, as in the case of a variant of unknown significance (VUS). But it is also frequently uncertain whether/how the information relates to a patient's phenotype or what it may mean for a child's future. Even without ambiguity in the diagnosis or prognosis, the significance …

Classification of skin lesions can be challenging because of the subtle variation on the skin surface due to the appearance of these lesions. In the other hand, the digital dermoscopy has been widely used by dermatologist to diagnose cancer. For accurate detection, the clinicians should have a lot of experiences, but human nature is prone to error, forgetfulness, tension, and speed in diagnosis, all of which can affect the accuracy of detection. For these reasons, automated skin lesion classification has been used by many researchers to help dermatologists in making the right and accurate decision during diagnosis. A preprocessing image …

Abstract: To address the high consumption of computational resources in simulating ship liquid tank sloshing using computational fluid dynamics simulation methods, a data-driven numerical simulation model was proposed based on graph neural networks. An encoder-processor-decoder framework was employed in the proposed model. The encoder extracted features of fluid particles from the first five time steps. The processor learnt latent motion patterns of fluid and updated features, and the decoder predicted features of particles at subsequent time steps. The processor incorporated a self-attention mechanism to enable dynamic adjacency weight allocation and emphasize the influence of irregular tank wall regions. Training …
The Gamification Of Online Dating: Exploring The Intersection Of Play, Choice, And Romance In Digital Spaces, Emma Taylor
The Gamification Of Online Dating: Exploring The Intersection Of Play, Choice, And Romance In Digital Spaces, Emma Taylor
School of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences
The rise of online dating platforms has transformed the way individuals approach romantic relationships, with many users increasingly engaging in these platforms as a form of entertainment in addition to finding meaningful connections. Central to this shift is the growing phenomenon of gamification, the incorporation of game-like elements, into non-game contexts. This article proposes to explore the gamification of online dating, examining how these game mechanics shape user behaviours, influence romantic choices, and impact relationship outcomes. By analysing the ways in which dating platforms integrate game-inspired features, this study will also assess the implications of gamified experiences for the nature …

School of Art, Design and Architecture
This paper proposes a rethinking of the “Future Screen” through the integration of affective computing, generative AI, and immersive spatial display. As an advanced screen paradigm, the full dome environment transcends flat, passive interfaces and enables dynamic, multisensory, and emotionally adaptive media experiences (Von Chamier-Waite, 2013). Building on this potential, the research presents Coids, an interactive dome installation. In this work, real-time emotional states are captured using EEG-based emotion recognition. These inputs dynamically shape AI-generated visuals within a shared immersive setting.Drawing on theories of immersion, presence, AI generated visuals and affect, the study explores how physiological data, even from low-resolution …

Volumetric Video With Skateboarders: Creative Opportunities Of Working With An Emerging Screen Technology Beyond The Studio, Dani Landau, Diego Zamora
School of Art, Design and Architecture
Volumetric video is an emerging moving image technology in which each pixel is recorded witha location in three dimensions. Volumetric videos are normally created in studios using rigs made upof multiple cameras with LiDAR sensors and computers that combine the moving images. We tookthis technology out of the studio to explore variations of this technique in public skateparks. We foundthat as the technology is still in developing stages there are creative constraints: the lidar cameras sense at a limited distance to the subject, the image is of a relatively low resolution, and there are often glitches in theimage. In our …

Satellite-Mediated Quantum Clock Synchronization: Towards Precise Timing At A Global Scale, Sage B. Ducoing
LSU Doctoral Dissertations
Accurate timekeeping is essential for scientific and technological advancements, particularly in areas of communication, networking, navigation, and high precision measurements. While many methods of time resolution are already established using classical resources, they fail to combine high precision outcomes with large-scale implementations. Additionally, numerous quantum networking architectures using satellite-assisted methods have demonstrated quantum communication on scales exceeding ground-based methods. For these reasons, we propose the use of a time synchronization method by which pairs of highly time-correlated photons are exchanged between clocks on satellites and clocks on Earth, al- lowing users to reconstruct the time offsets between their clocks. Distinct Populations Of Lung Capillary Endothelial Cells And Their Functional Significance, Joel James, Dan Yi, Zhiyu Dai, Et Al.
2020-Current year OA Pubs
The role of the lung's microcirculation and capillary endothelial cells in normal physiology and the pathobiology of pulmonary diseases is obviously vital. The recent discovery of molecularly distinct aerocytes and general capillary (gCaps) endothelial cells by single-cell transcriptomics (scRNAseq) advanced the field in understanding microcirculatory milieu and cellular communications. However, increasing evidence from different groups indicated the possibility of a more heterogeneous nature of lung capillaries. Therefore, we investigated enriched lung endothelial cells by scRNAseq and identified five novel populations of gCaps with distinct molecular signatures and roles. Our analysis suggests that two major populations of gCaps that express Scn7a(Na

Voice interaction is often the primary input modality for wearable electronic devices, such as augmented reality (AR) glasses. However, effective interaction via a voice interface can be difficult in certain common scenarios such as noisy environments, quiet environments where the wearer cannot provide audible spoken input, etc. This disclosure describes techniques that enable adaptive, multi-modal speech-to-text transcription on smart glasses using sensor fusion. The smart glasses include microphones (e.g., a microphone array), a vibration sensor (e.g., in the nose bridge), and low-power cameras that have the wearer’s lips in the field of view. Data streams from these sensors are combined …
