Emotion Regulation And Stress In Adult Learning Through Social Media Platforms, Jennifer Irocky Feb 2026

Emotion Regulation And Stress In Adult Learning Through Social Media Platforms, Jennifer Irocky

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Social media platforms have become significant contexts for informal learning among adults, offering access to information and peer exchange outside of formal educational settings. These platforms are also emotionally complex environments in which stress and emotion regulation may shape learning outcomes. The purpose of this quantitative, nonexperimental study was to examine the relationship between social media use and informal learning in adults, with perceived stress and emotion regulation examined as moderating variables. Secondary data from the Stress in America: The State of Our Nation, 2007–2018 surveys were analyzed, using binary logistic regression with moderation while controlling for age, gender, and …

Staff Education To Address Financial Barriers In Outpatient Psychiatric Care, Yvette Taffou Kamayou Feb 2026

Staff Education To Address Financial Barriers In Outpatient Psychiatric Care, Yvette Taffou Kamayou

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This staff education project addressed financial barriers that prevent psychiatric outpatients from accessing consistent care. High no-show rates in outpatient psychiatry, often 20–40%, stem largely from costs such as co-pays, transportation, and medication, leading to missed appointments, poorer outcomes, and increased healthcare costs. The practice-focused question was “In an outpatient psychiatric clinic, does a targeted staff education program on non-judgmental financial discussions, sliding-scale fees, and telehealth options improve staff knowledge, confidence, and patient referral rates to resources over 8 weeks?” The purpose was to implement and evaluate a structured educational intervention to equip staff with tools for addressing financial barriers, …

Optimizing Telehealth Staff Education To Improve Medication Adherence In Adults With Ptsd, Omotayo Abdul Feb 2026

Optimizing Telehealth Staff Education To Improve Medication Adherence In Adults With Ptsd, Omotayo Abdul

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This Doctor of Nursing Practice project was a staff education quality improvement initiative designed to optimize telehealth training for nurses to improve medication adherence in adults with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Telehealth has become an essential modality for delivering mental health care, yet its effectiveness depends heavily on nurses’ ability to communicate effectively, build trust, and engage patients in treatment discussions. Medication nonadherence remains a significant challenge in PTSD care and is closely linked to the quality of clinician communication and patient engagement during care encounters. The practice-focused question guiding this project asked how a staff education project on PTSD …

Rapid and comprehensive analysis of complex proteomes across large sample sets is vital for unlocking the potential of systems biology. We present a high-throughput mass spectrometry (MS) proteomics method that integrates narrow-window data-independent acquisition (nDIA) with short-gradient micro-flow chromatography, enabling profiling of >240 samples per day. This optimized MS approach identifies 6,201 and 7,466 human proteins with 1- and 2-min gradients, respectively. As a practical application, we analyzed 507 samples composed of 13 different tissues from mice treated with the enzyme-drug L-asparaginase (ASNase) or its glutaminase-free Q59L mutant, generating a quantitative profile of 11,472 proteins following drug treatment. The MS …

Media Studies - All Scholarship

As public relations efforts increasingly integrate AI into operations, examining how the disclosure of AI as the source in organizational crisis communications affects public perceptions is increasingly relevant. This research investigates the effects of AI disclosure across matched crisis responses within a 3 (match crisis response: victim crisis-scapegoating, accidental crisis-excuse, preventable crisis-apology) x 2 (source disclosure: AI vs. human) experimental design survey. Key findings reveal that crisis responses with human sources, compared to those with AI disclosure, led to greater perceptions of organizational reputation and credibility across the three matched crisis responses. AI-disclosed messages from the company were also associated …

Generalization Under Sub-Population Shift: Equitable Models For Imbalanced, Long-Tailed, And Fair Representation Learni, Faizanuddin Ansari

Doctoral Theses

Machine learning systems often experience performance degradation in real-world scenarios due to subpopulation shift defined as mismatches in the distribution of classes or attributes within datasets. This thesis investigates generalization failures arising from class imbalance, long-tailed distributions, and attribute-level biases (specifically, attribute-level biases that originate from demographic imbalances in sensitive domains, such as medical imaging). It proposes principled strategies to mitigate these effects in both classical and deep learning frameworks. Class imbalance and long-tailed distributions pose significant challenges, especially in real-world applications where minority classes are underrepresented yet critically important. To address these challenges, this work develops novel algorithms and …

Mechanisms responsible for skeletal muscle kidney crosstalk have not been defined. We have determined that a circulating mediator, signal regulatory protein α (SIRPα), impairs intracellular insulin-mediated functions. To elucidate the effect of myokine SIRPα on diabetic kidney disease (DKD), flox mice and muscle-specific (m-specific) SIRPα-KO mice were subjected to an obesity-induced model of diabetes, high-fat diet (HFD; 60%) or insulin-deficient hyperglycemia model, streptozotocin (STZ), and were subsequently exposed to anti-SIRPα monoclonal antibodies. In the obesity-induced diabetic mice, serum SIRPα increased. Genetic deletion of muscle SIRPα protected against obesity and improved intracellular insulin signaling in muscle and adipose tissue, with reduced …

Ascites, or a pathologic accumulation of intra-abdominal fluid, is a key feature of intraperitoneally disseminating cancers, such as ovarian cancer. This pathological fluid buildup can influence the adhesive abilities of ovarian cancer cells, as they spread throughout the abdominal cavity to form metastatic implants on organs lined with a specialized monolayer of mesothelial cells. Robust methods for assessing the impact of fluid shear stress on this cell-cell interaction are lacking. Here, we develop and characterize a novel microfluidic device that allows for the determination of the attachment of ovarian tumor cells to mesothelial cells under the influence of fluid flow. …

The Lexical Richness Of Abdelkebir Khatibi’S Fictional Works, Abdellah Kaaouas

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

This article presents a stylo-statistical analysis of lexical richness across the seven novels of Abdelkébir Khatibi. The objective is to establish an objective classification of these works by quantifying the ratio between word occurrences (N) and distinct vocabulary terms (V). The methodology is based on a comparative approach utilizing several mathematical models: Guiraud’s formula, Muller’s binomial law, and, most notably, Brunet’s [W] index, selected for its ability to neutralize the influence of text length. The results demonstrate that vocabulary density in Khatibi’s work is not chronological but rather tied to specific stylistic choices, establishing La Mémoire tatouée as the most …

Deconstructing Gender Relations In Selected Essays By Abdelkébir Khatibi And Fatema Mernissi, Hanane El Majidi

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

This article examines how gender relations are deconstructed in selected essays by Abdelkébir Khatibi and Fatema Mernissi, situating their work within Moroccan debates of the 1980s and 1990s on social change and the family. It analyzes writing strategies and theoretical resources—literary and sociological—used to question gender as a socially acquired performance. Particular attention is given to Mernissi’s texts, where multiple female voices (songs, interviews, and familial figures) are made audible and reworked into a political reading of rights, labor, and access to public space. The study shows how the essay form operates as a site for shifting norms and for …

These operations are built by considering the theme to be discussed and the public to request. The objective of the present work is the study of the insult to see how this discursive strategy can become an act of presentation of one (ethos) and how it places the insulter in a high position, which allows him to criticize and to dominate.

Hybridity And Identity In Contemporary Artistic And Literary Creation In Morocco, Ikram Alami, Abdellah Kaaouas Feb 2026

Hybridity And Identity In Contemporary Artistic And Literary Creation In Morocco, Ikram Alami, Abdellah Kaaouas

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

Since the late 1980s, artistic and literary creation in Morocco has been defined by an aesthetic and formal hybridity, operating through a fusion of traditional heritage and the imperatives of modernity. This "metis" production, marked by multiculturalism and the use of new technologies, deconstructs academic canons to generate multidisciplinary works (visual arts, literature, digital media). In literature, this heterogeneity manifests as the fragmentation of genres, the interpenetration of orality and literacy, and a heterolinguism (code-switching between French, Arabic, and English) that reflects a multipolar identity. Faced with the pressures of globalization, this dynamic of cross-breeding (métissage) is not a mere …
