The Scars Of Capitalism In Virginia Woolf’S Mrs. Dalloway And ‘Kew Gardens’, Median Mashkoor Hussein
The Scars Of Capitalism In Virginia Woolf’S Mrs. Dalloway And ‘Kew Gardens’, Median Mashkoor Hussein
Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences
This paper discusses the scars of capitalism in Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway and ‘Kew Gardens’. Following one day of the character’s life, the discussion will investigate how the novel and the short story introduce the capitalist ideology that dictates the character’s everyday life and how the characters, in different ways and to certain extents, react to it. In Mrs. Dalloway, Woolf depicts capitalism as an oppressive system that can be very rewarding to those who submit to its ideals and, at the same time, very catastrophic to those who try to confront it or question its validity. In ‘Kew …

The context is an element which works out of the linguistic system that helps to understand the text and decode its symbols. It cannot be dispensed with in levels, and contributes to determining the meanings intended for it. As for the syntax text, it is a science and direction in the linguistic lesson whose ultimate goal is to understand the syntactic interconnections of a single sentence into a long or short chain of sentences that make up a specific text
The purpose of this research is to shed light on linguistic blog of Amali Al-Zajjaji, T 337 A.D Which includes …

Rapid characterization of chemical analogues in potentially toxic complex matrix was essential for prevention of accidental poisoning. On the basis of the fragment ions possessed not only the same retention times (RT) but the same drift times (DT) on liquid chromatography-ion mobility-mass spectrometry (LC-IM-MS), an alternating frames (AF)-data independent acquisition (DIA) was utilized for simultaneous detection and rapid match of precursor/product ions with a fast switch of low/high collision energy (CE). A diagnostic ions guided 2D-locating strategy was developed for identification of chemical analogues in potentially toxic herbal medicines using LC-IM-MS. Firstly, the 2D-locations (RT, DT) of diagnostic ions were …

Conducting polymers (CPs) are a category of polymeric materials with conjugated main chains. The characteristic electrical and optical properties of CPs can be fine-tuned through controlling the doping states of CPs. Because of their long-term stability in water, CPs have been demonstrated as electroactive biointerfaces and electrode materials especially in aqueous environments. Serving as multifunctional interfaces and organic electrodes for the integration bioelectronics and devices, CPs have been studied and applied in various biological applications. This paper provides a review of conducting polymer–based electrochemical sensors, particularly those used in biological fields. General conducting polymers and derivatives and their main electrochemical …

First League Of Women Voters In Florida: Its Troubled History, Joan S. Carver
Florida Historical Quarterly
The Florida League of Women Voters cites 1939 as the year of its establishment. In fact, this date marks the founding of the second league of women voters in the state. An earlier organization, the Florida State League of Women Voters (FSLWV) which receives no mention in current league publications, was organized in 1921 and was disaffiliated by the national organization in 1937. The stormy history of the first league illustrates the difficulties women’s organizations in the South experienced in carving out an appropriate role in the political arena in the years following the adoption of the suffrage amendment. It …

Over the years the regional diversity of the United States has coined scores of colorful words to describe groups of people perceived to have something in common. On occasion, these words, often pejorative in connotation, have worked their way into other languages, a classic example being the term Yankee. One of the more expressive regional terms to find its way into a foreign language has been the word cracker, defined in the Oxford English Dictionary as a “contemptuous name in [the] Southern States of N. America [applied] to the ‘poor whites’: Whence familiarly, to the native whites of Georgia and …

North Florida And The Great Storm Of 1873, Mary Louise Ellis
North Florida And The Great Storm Of 1873, Mary Louise Ellis
Florida Historical Quarterly
The autumn of 1873 seemed full of promise for the people of north and central Florida. Luck and the weather, two critical elements of life for an area dependent on farming, were favorable so far. The cotton bolls were ripening on schedule, and high yields were predicted. Farmers paid close attention to the weather, and hoped that the frequent thunder showers would not threaten their prospects of making a good crop. As the summer faded, first luck, then the weather, changed— and the changes dealt a ruinous blow to an agricultural region still mired in the hard times of Reconstruction.

Lessons Learned From Bp: Deepwater Horizon And The Transition To Renewables, Daniel Valle
Journal of Global Awareness
This paper analyzes the gradual transition of British Petroleum (BP), one of the world's largest oil and gas companies, into a renewable energy company focused on sustainability and the reduction of carbon emissions. BP's leadership and ethical practices are compared before and after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster. The purpose of the comparison and the broader analysis of the transition is to identify how effective leadership can be used to transform a company with a suspect social responsibility record into a leader among its peers. Lessons learned from the disaster, and the subsequent transition conclude the research.

Globalization And Public Health In Rural Zones: Lessons From Sub-Saharan Africa, Benjamin Poku, Jean-Leopold Kabambi
Journal of Global Awareness
Distant rural regions of Sub-Sahara Africa are often coveted by foreign investing companies for their natural resources. However, the rural populations do not always take advantage of the economic benefits resulting from those investing activities. These increasing activities do not leave without harming the health of rural communities as they rely on community-based traditional and ancestral practices such as fishing and hunting, traditional medicine, spiritual ceremonies, among others, to survive. We aimed to analyze selected indicators of public health in rural zones highly impacted by globalization factors using existing database and literature research. Given the complexity of the situation, efforts …

We Hold These Distruths To Be Self-Evident: How Legal History Could Save America From Itself, William Murphy
Journal of Global Awareness
This paper explores the threat of disinformation to American society. Focusing on social and cable news media as the primary disseminators of disinformation, it examines how the very design and nature of these two mediums promote and stimulate the intentional and viral spread of wholly inaccurate information as well as the significant and tangible negative consequences experienced across American society as a result. The paper subsequently proposes a legal solution to this dilemma in the form of a repeal of Section 230 paired with a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine. The background, history, and effect of each are thoroughly discussed, …

Teaching And Assessing College Stem Courses Online During Covid-19: Evidence-Based Strategies And Recommendations, Santanu De, Georgina Arguello
FDLA Journal
Since the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, most schools, colleges, and universities worldwide underwent a paradigm shift by transitioning to digital teaching and learning modalities. This phenomenon was essential to mitigate the contagion; however, the academic institutions needed to quickly come up with ways to ensure that the quality and rigor of education were maintained, especially the active and experiential learning required by undergraduate and graduate courses in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This paper highlights key approaches reported or proposed to effectively conduct college-level, in-person STEM courses online owing to the pandemic. These would range from synchronous versus asynchronous pedagogies …
