Workforce Needs And Labor Market Trends In Utah [Special Report], Lendel K. Narine, Paul Hill, Andree' Walker Bravo
Outcomes and Impact Quarterly
This study examined Utah employers’ perceptions of workforce preparedness, hiring challenges, and emerging skill needs. Data were collected from 226 employers across different industries to identify priority competency gaps in the state’s workforce. Results revealed that Utah employers perceive the largest skill gaps in time management, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and ethical judgment, competencies essential for effective leadership and collaboration. Employers placed the highest value on experiential learning opportunities, particularly work-based projects, internships, and mentorships, as the most effective means of preparing graduates. Employers emphasized communication, teamwork, and analytical problem-solving as the most critical skills for the next five to …
Analysis Of City Planning For Autism Spectrum Disorder, Joshua Ericson, Ben Shane
Analysis Of City Planning For Autism Spectrum Disorder, Joshua Ericson, Ben Shane
City and Regional Planning
Whether formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed, autism spectrum disorder affects children and adults in every corner of the planet. Every city in the world likely has autistic residents who have difficulty living in navigating their city due to their unique sensory, social, and economic needs. Many of these needs affect autistic people’s abilities to comfortably and independently navigate public spaces, attain a reliable method of transportation, and find housing that suits their needs. These issues could all be addressed with city planning and neuro-inclusive public policies, but to date few cities have considered autistic people in their planning. Cities inadvertently exclude …

The Gospel Of Glamour: A Christian Woman's Style Blueprint, Osaromwenyeke Osemwota
Theses
The Gospel of Glamour: The Christian Woman’s Style Blueprint was a luxury-branded, sustainability-focused, faith-based style guide that addressed a gap in fashion, theology, and sustainability scholarship. Existing literature had either systematized fashion, explored the spiritual significance of dress, or examined sustainable and luxury practices—but none had integrated these dimensions into a prescriptive, actionable guide for Christian women. Drawing on Scripture as the foundational authority, including passages from Genesis, Exodus, Psalms, and Proverbs, the guide framed clothing as both practical provision and visible expression of covenantal identity. The style guide synthesized secular fashion methodology, modest-fashion scholarship, and sustainable luxury principles to …

On Signifiable Computability: Part Iii: A Note On Unnameable Functions On Natural Numbers, Vladimir A. Kulyukin
Computer Science Faculty and Staff Publications
A writing system 𝔚 on an alphabet 𝒜 is a tuple (ℜ,𝔐), where ℜ is a finite set of text formation rules and 𝔐 is a finite rule application mechanism that generates texts on 𝒜. A natural writing system forms natural language texts on an alphabet such as Sanskrit on Devanagari. An artificial writing system generates formal language texts on an alphabet such as Lisp on Unicode. Let ℕ ={0,1,2,…} be the set of natural numbers. A function on natural numbers 𝑓 :ℕ𝑘 ↦ ℕ, 0 < 𝑘 ∈ ℕ, is nameable by a writing system on an alphabet if, and only if, the system can generate a text on the alphabet that names f and no other function. We show that there exist functions on natural numbers unnameable in principle in that they cannot be named by any writing system on any alphabet. Our results imply the following computability-theoretic hierarchy of functions on natural numbers: computable ⊊ partially computable ⊊ nameable ⊊ 𝔉, where 𝔉 is the set of functions on ℕ.

Introducing The Aasspectq Framework: A New Typology For Assessing Quality, Pedagogy, Outcomes, And Learning In Micro-Credentials, Felix Quayson
Journal of Research Initiatives
Micro-credentials have gained increasing attention as a flexible and competency-based approach to bridging the gap between formal education and workforce demands. Unlike traditional qualifications and degrees, micro-credentials focus on discrete, demonstrable skills that can be rapidly developed, assessed, and recognized across industries. I proposed the Auditing, Avoidance, Specificity, Skills, Personalization, Efficiency, Competency, Technology, and Quality Assurance (AASSPECTQ) conceptual framework to examine the current state of micro-credential implementation, highlighting the tools, learning outcomes, and assessment instruments necessary for effective program design. The challenges of quality assurance, portability, and recognition that continue to limit widespread adoption were also explored. By …
A Simulation Framework For Edge Lane Roads And Bicycle Shared Roadways, Nick Sauciur
A Simulation Framework For Edge Lane Roads And Bicycle Shared Roadways, Nick Sauciur
Master's Theses
Edge Lane Roads, also referred to as Advisory Bike Lanes, are a shared roadway treatment that designates space for cyclists while allowing flexible use of the roadway by motorists. They are commonly applied on lower speed corridors and can be used both where roadway width is limited and where agencies seek to manage vehicle speeds, clarify cyclist positioning, or improve shared roadway operations. The configuration provides visually designated space for cyclists while allowing motorists to encroach into that space when yielding to opposing traffic. Although interest in these facilities is growing in North America, quantitative tools for evaluating their operational …

Analyzing Access To Livelihood Opportunities Among Migrants, Refugees And Asylum-Seekers In Egypt, Sara Sadek, Nada Hegazy, Shaimaa Gheith, Mahmoud Mansour
Faculty Journal Articles
The study “Access to livelihood opportunities among migrants, refugees and asylum- seekers in Egypt,” was conducted under the framework of the Egyptian Migration Hub (EHUB) project. It focused on underscoring the prospects of challenges with regards to the employment of such groups in the informal labor economy in Egypt considering the current limitations in the legal framework. The study adopted a qualitative method including 46 KIIs and 46 FGDs conducted in three governorates: Greater Cairo, Alexandria and Damietta. In December 2024 the law 164 governing refugee and asylum issues in Egypt was enacted with Article 18 stipulating the right to …
Argument-Based Consistency In Toxicity Explanations Of Llms, Ramaravind K. Mothilal, Joanna Roy, Syed Ishtiaque Ahmed, Shion Guha
Argument-Based Consistency In Toxicity Explanations Of Llms, Ramaravind K. Mothilal, Joanna Roy, Syed Ishtiaque Ahmed, Shion Guha
Health Services and Informatics Research
The discourse around toxicity and LLMs in NLP largely revolves around detection tasks. This work shifts the focus to evaluating LLMs’ reasoning about toxicity—from their explanations that justify a stance—to enhance their trustworthiness in downstream tasks. Despite extensive research on explainability, it is not straightforward to adopt existing methods to evaluate free-form toxicity explanation due to their over-reliance on input text perturbations, among other challenges. To account for these, we propose a novel, theoretically-grounded multi-dimensional criterion, Argument-based Consistency (ArC), that measures the extent to which LLMs’ free-form toxicity explanations reflect an ideal and logical argumentation process. Based on uncertainty quantification, …
Behind Every Case Is A Conversation, Donna Shestowsky
Behind Every Case Is A Conversation, Donna Shestowsky
Nevada Law Journal
Lawyers play a central role in guiding clients through critical decisions that shape the trajectory of litigation. Among the most consequential of these is the choice of procedures by which disputes will be resolved—whether through trial, mediation, arbitration, or other mechanisms. Despite the weight of these decisions, legal scholarship offers little guidance on how lawyers might structure conversations about procedural options. This Article seeks to address that gap by drawing on empirical research from psychology and related disciplines to develop recommendations for educating and counseling clients—particularly those with little or no prior exposure to the civil justice system—so that they …
Unlocking The Corporate Governance Potential Of Mutual Fund Investors, Jeffrey Manns
Unlocking The Corporate Governance Potential Of Mutual Fund Investors, Jeffrey Manns
Nevada Law Journal
America’s mutual fund governance has long consisted of a system of money manager dominance and shareholder impotence. While mutual funds pool together unprecedented sums of capital, investors historically have had no meaningful role in governance and have faced a choice of “love it or leave it” when it comes to their investments in mutual funds.
The controversy over mutual fund managers’ advocacy of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in portfolio companies has reinvigorated interest in repairing the dysfunctional principal-agent relationship between investors and money managers. The management of BlackRock, the world’s largest money manager, ignited an ESG voting controversy …

Whereas organizational network studies infer employees’ agentic desires through observed network changes, we capture desires to collaborate more closely with co-workers directly through a survey. We argue that formal structures create workflow dependencies between employees as they gather others’ inputs to complete their tasks, and individuals desire to alter their networks to manage those dependencies using the following two main collaborative approaches: (1) collaborating more intensely with existing formal workflow network partners; and (2) engaging in bypassing approaches with specific partners outside of their prescribed formal workflow. We found that employees pursued a tie-strengthening approach with formal partners they already …

Mainstreaming Mistrust: The Shift In Us Vaccine Policy Under The Trump Administration, Sanjin Musa, Amy Estlund, Megan A. Berman
Faculty Scholarship
Department of Health and Human Services led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., represents a significant departure from long-standing public health norms. This commentary explores how historically marginalized anti-vaccine activism has moved into the mainstream of government oversight. Key actions driving this transition include the wholesale replacement of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, the departure of senior CDC officials, and the public questioning of established childhood immunization schedules. Furthermore, the administration has ceased financial support for global health entities like the World Health Organization and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, while canceling funding for innovative mRNA vaccine platforms.
These domestic policy …

This article examines the effectiveness of intensive case management (ICM) as a rehumanizing framework for supporting racialized individuals transitioning from incarceration to community re-entry in Canada. The study focuses on the Prosper program delivered by the community organization Amadeusz (learn more at https://amadeusz.ca/home), which provides culturally responsive, relationship-centered supports for individuals facing firearm-related charges. Guided by Critical Race Theory and Culturally Sustaining Pedagogies, two focus groups with six racialized female caseworkers were conducted alongside examining archival interviews and program evaluation data. Thematic analysis identified three interconnected dimensions of effective reintegration practice: (1) building trust through relational accountability, (2) integrating culturally …

Barriers To Implementing Simulation-Based Surgical Training For Improving Quality And Safety In Developing Countries: A Short Communication, Abdullah Saeed Khan, Selina Hasan, Faisal Wasim Ismail, Nadeem Ahmed Siddiqui
Centre for Innovation in Medical Education
Simulation-based surgical training has the potential to significantly improve surgical outcomes in developing countries. However, its implementation faces numerous challenges, including financial constraints, infrastructural limitations, cultural barriers, and a lack of trained personnel. High costs, limited access to technology, and resistance to innovative teaching methods hinder the adoption of simulation-based surgical training. To overcome these obstacles, strategic approaches are needed, such as leveraging low-fidelity simulators, building strong partnerships, and investing in faculty development. By addressing these challenges, developing countries can harness the power of simulation-based surgical training to enhance surgical education and improve patient care.
