Principals' Personality And Instructional Leadership Behavior, Edward Cox, W. Burke Royster

Teacher Education Journal of South Carolina

This quantitative study examines the relationship between the leadership personality of a principal and the perception of that principal as an instructional leader. More specifically it seeks to determine if a principal's dominant personality characteristic, as defined by a four quadrant analysis, relates to the faculty's perception of that principal's instructional leadership. That perception is also examined in light of principal experience and grade level of the school. The results of this study indicate that a principal's predominant personality characteristic does not impact that individual's perception as an instructional leader by the faculty. A weak to moderate relationship between the …

Senior Stories: Using Biblio-Therapy To Shape Positive Perceptions Of Senior Adults In Teacher Education Program And Multigenerational Settings, Linda Karges-Bone

Teacher Education Journal of South Carolina

Biblio-therapy is a powerful tool in the hands of educators. Those who prepare future teachers can benefit from a more broad exposure to biblio-therapy as it relates to the treatment of senior adults. Too often, seniors are seen as weak, passive, and powerless. The bias of ageism has the potential to negatively influence perceptions of seniors by themselves and others. The model outlined in this article offers 1) opportunities to use biblio-therapy in a collaborative way in senior adult and school age populations; and 2) a more balanced and healthy perception of senior adults in children's literature choices.

Extending The Geometric Phase To Relativistic Spacetime, Sajid Raihan Akash Mar 2026

Extending The Geometric Phase To Relativistic Spacetime, Sajid Raihan Akash

Department of Physics and Astronomy: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research

The Berry phase [3] is traditionally understood as a geometric phase acquired during cyclic adiabatic evolution, often interpreted as the flux of an effective “magnetic field” through a solid angle in parameter space. In this thesis, we investigate situations in which a geometric phase arises even when no spatial solid angle is enclosed, revealing the limitations of the standard purely spatial interpretation. We first review the Berry phase for a spin-½ particle in a slowly varying magnetic field and analyze scenarios in which the system’s eigenstate is changed during the adiabatic evolution. We show that the resulting phase can be …
