“Old World” Europe feels timeless—but that feeling is constructed. What we’re drawn to isn’t just age, it’s preservation.

Dead Poets/Society: How A Great American Classic Reflects The Fatal Shortcomings Of American Schools, Sophia Shapiro Apr 2026

Dead Poets/Society: How A Great American Classic Reflects The Fatal Shortcomings Of American Schools, Sophia Shapiro

The Penguin Review

Rarely do the worlds of film and academia coalesce in ways that change public discourse of both entirely. Almost always, endeavors to join these two very dissident disciplines fall flat in one realm or the other. But, every so often, a special feature becomes cinematic royalty for the world of academia, and none stands out as a larger paragon than Dead Poets Society.

Are Super Pacs Dangerous To American Democracy?, Mason Lee Compton Apr 2026

Are Super Pacs Dangerous To American Democracy?, Mason Lee Compton

The Penguin Review

In the 2024 election cycle, just ten individuals contributed over $1 billion to Super PACs: more money than millions of ordinary Americans donated collectively.1 Reports described this select group as “an unelected shadow cabinet,” capable of reshaping entire campaigns from behind the scenes through rapid ad buys, targeted messaging, and electoral pressure. None of this would have been possible before 2010, when the Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision– combined with the D.C. Circuit’s ruling in SpeechNow.org v. FEC– dramatically dismantled long-standing campaign finance restrictions.2 3 These decisions opened the door for unlimited independent expenditures, giving rise …

The Fall Of Saigon And Its Legacy In The United States, Logan J. Kemp Apr 2026

The Fall Of Saigon And Its Legacy In The United States, Logan J. Kemp

The Penguin Review

The topic of South Vietnam has always been one close to home. My mother and grandma were evacuated from Saigon before the country fell to North Vietnam in 1975. They hopped on a US military helicopter, taking multiple stops on ships and islands before eventually landing in Orange County, California. Because of the evacuation, my family members were forced to start a new life; however, it was better than being sent to a re-education camp. My Grandma had done some business with an American, and she could have lost her life if she had been sent to the camps. Tens …

The War On War: Desensitization's Effects On Society's Moral Fabric, Chelsea E. Johnson, Andrew J. Cudden

The Penguin Review

In an era of constant connectivity, violence is no longer distant or intermittent. Wars, political repression, mass shootings, and humanitarian crises now unfold in real time, shared instantly through twenty-four-hour news cycles and social media. Never before has global suffering been so visible. Yet this unprecedented access has failed to produce sustained moral urgency or collective responsibility. Instead, violence becomes increasingly utilised as fleeting content–viewed, shared, and then displaced by the next trending event. This paradox raises a pressing ethical question: how can a world more informed of suffering become so morally disengaged from it?

Present Day North Korea, Milo Fisher-Golton Apr 2026

Present Day North Korea, Milo Fisher-Golton

The Penguin Review

The government of North Korea poses an extreme threat to the world while suppressing its citizens’ freedom, so why doesn't this topic get the attention it warrants in the United States? North Korea has been the cause of two major inhumane issues for some time now: as a nuclear threat to all other countries, and as a human rights suppressor to its own population under its communist dictator, Kim Jong Un. North Korea is at odds with its geographical neighbors, the United States, and other global powers. Their access to nuclear weapons– along with their alliances with Russia and China– …

Ethical Discernment In Virtual Supervision: Implications For Supervisory Practice, Joshua Freeman Apr 2026

Ethical Discernment In Virtual Supervision: Implications For Supervisory Practice, Joshua Freeman

Liberty University Research Week

As counselor supervision increasingly occurs in virtual settings, supervisors must attend not only to ethical standards and professional judgment, but also to how technology reshapes communication, relational dynamics, and ethical interpretation. Virtual environments alter the conditions under which supervisory presence, power, and meaning-making are experienced, introducing new ethical complexities, especially when addressing values, spirituality, and religious worldviews in clinical work. This presentation advances a conceptual framework positioning ethical discernment as a primary mediating process in virtual supervision. Drawing from the Discrimination Model of supervision and professional ethical standards, the framework integrates supervision theory, ethical decision-making, spirituality, and worldview considerations within …

Deaf Development In The Church: The Importance Of Deaf-Led Ministries, Emma Chupp

Liberty University Research Week

This study examines the lived experiences of Deaf pastors across the United States to identify gaps of resources and technical Deaf ministry training and better understand how dDeaf pastors are being equipped to lead dDeaf churches. For the purposes of this study the capitalization of Deaf refers to culturally deaf individuals and the term dDeaf refers to the entire dDeaf and Hard-of-Hearing community. In the United States and around the globe, it is common for the dDeaf community to be excluded from mainstream Christian churches – not out of intention but cultural differences. Traditional hearing churches are not accessible nor …

A Cord Of Three Strands Is Not Quickly Broken: The Fortitude Of Arkansas Women's Activism, Laura L. Hennings

Create@State

Mainstream attention to Arkansas women’s activism often emphasizes work that aligned with the status quo, rather than subverting it. The key figures in this project were mothers who advocated for improvements to public health, education, and justice reform, and non-parent maternal figures who hoped to make life more equitable for all families. I scoured over one thousand pages of primary and secondary source material to determine those factors that were most vital to the successes of organizations such as the Women’s Emergency Committee, the Southern Tenant Farmer’s Union, and the Association of Southern Women for the Prevention of Lynching. Within …

Pop Art's Influences On 1960s Mod Fashion, Erin Bryan Apr 2026

Pop Art's Influences On 1960s Mod Fashion, Erin Bryan

Create@State

Abstract

I will be exploring how the pop art movement, in particular, influenced the fashion associated with the 1960s Mod style. This style was popular among young people in Britain, as the term “Mod” is short for “Modernist”, and featured bold colors, geometric motifs, sharp lines, as well as slim and simple silhouettes.  I will be creating my own 1960s mini dress, following a vintage pattern from that time, and using fabric that reflects the bright, geometric, and colorful characteristics of pop art, all while documenting my progress. Not only will I be capturing the visual similarities between this art …

The Digital Museum: Classical Reception In Animal Crossing New Horizons, Anna G. Kendall Apr 2026

The Digital Museum: Classical Reception In Animal Crossing New Horizons, Anna G. Kendall

Create@State

My project examines how Animal Crossing: New Horizons brings the ancient body into a modern, digital world through its recreations of classical Greek sculptures. In the game, players can collect, study, and display famous works such as the Venus de Milo, Discobolus, and Nike of Samothrace in a virtual museum. These sculptures reveal how the Greeks represented beauty, strength, and divine movement through the human form. By interacting with them in-game, players connect with these ancient ideas of the body in a new way. The game’s system of real and fake artworks also teaches players to look closely and …

Sanitizing Escape Lines: Memory Transmission Among Wwii Airmen, Darrah S. Thompson Apr 2026

Sanitizing Escape Lines: Memory Transmission Among Wwii Airmen, Darrah S. Thompson

Create@State

Through declassified archival documents, family archives, and oral histories of WWII airmen, this poster examines how memory was impacted by wartime and post-war secrecy. Using the American Air Crew of the B-17 Flying Fortress, “Baby Dumpling,” as my case study,  I explore how the containment of sensitive information through intelligence protocols during and after WWII led to different understandings of the same catalyzing experience among the ten man crew. Following their crash—resulting in death, POW capture, or evasion—I trace how Francis B. Cater and Jack R. Zeman shared different accounts of the same event based not only on their experiences, …

Evaluating The Effectiveness Of Ai In Minimizing The Bullwhip Effect In Supply Chains, Ngan Vo, Khang Cao, Nikita Lama

Create@State

This study evaluates the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in reducing the bullwhip effect within a simulated supply chain using the Beer Game model. Three decision-making approaches were compared: traditional human-only ordering with limited information, AI-assisted ordering using ChatGPT, and collaborative decision-making with full information sharing across supply chain tiers. Supply chain performance was evaluated over four simulation rounds using key operational metrics, including order variability, inventory levels, backorders, and customer service performance. Results indicate that traditional human decision-making led to higher order variability and stronger fluctuations due to reactive decisions and limited information visibility. AI-assisted ordering improved decision consistency …

"Intergenerational Apologetics: A Strategy For Careful Confidence." A Dmin Thesis Project., Tom Farley Apr 2026

"Intergenerational Apologetics: A Strategy For Careful Confidence." A Dmin Thesis Project., Tom Farley

Liberty University Research Week

There is a subtle confusion between the objectives of evangelism and apologetics, leaving some senior adult church members unknowingly ill-equipped and intimidated to defend their Christian values. The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry action research was to address that intimidation by training seniors in a dedicated faith-values curriculum to become confident apologetic communicators. The intervention leveraged the process of intergenerational values-sharing while training stakeholders to develop their own faith narratives by seamlessly integrating biblical values with relevant apologetic particulars into personal stories to be shared with their grandchildren. In this environment, participants could develop a personal faith narrative that …

The Silent Trigger Theory: A Predictive Behavioral Safety Framework, Yazeed Almutairi Apr 2026

The Silent Trigger Theory: A Predictive Behavioral Safety Framework, Yazeed Almutairi

Liberty University Research Week

This theoretical study introduces The Silent Trigger Theory, a predictive behavioral safety framework designed to identify early, often overlooked human signals that precede safety incidents. Despite advances in established safety approaches such as Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), and ISO 45001 management systems, incidents continue to occur in environments where procedures, audits, and controls are fully implemented. This gap suggests a limitation in current models’ ability to capture subtle behavioral warning signs, particularly silence, emotional withdrawal, and ambiguous communication.

The Silent Trigger Theory addresses this gap through the STARC framework (Shift, Traceable, Ambiguity, Risk Link, Corrective Loop) …

The Algorithmic Battlefield - How Ai Is Redefining Modern Warfare, Pranav Bhatnagar Mr Apr 2026

The Algorithmic Battlefield - How Ai Is Redefining Modern Warfare, Pranav Bhatnagar Mr

Defensive Publications Series

Modern warfare has entered a phase where conflict is no longer initiated or decided solely through visible force, territorial aggression, or human-led strategy, but through the continuous operation of Artificial Intelligence systems that process intelligence, predict behavior, and influence decisions at a scale and speed beyond human comprehension, transforming the battlefield into a persistent, invisible domain where actions are shaped long before they are executed, as seen in real-world geopolitical tensions such as those between Russia and Ukraine, where cyber operations, satellite interference, and AI-assisted intelligence systems have become as critical as physical military deployments, and in the strategic competition …

Identity-Based Encryption For Secure Agentic Ai Workflows, Niranjan M M Apr 2026

Identity-Based Encryption For Secure Agentic Ai Workflows, Niranjan M M

Defensive Publications Series

Agentic AI systems are increasingly used across platforms for autonomous networking, security operations, observability, customer support, and business process automation. These systems consist of dynamically composed chains of AI agents, tools, and human participants that exchange highly sensitive data such as network telemetry, configuration state, customer information, and AI reasoning artifacts. Traditional security mechanisms such as static access controls, certificate-based encryption, or policy-heavy approaches like attribute-based encryption, do not scale effectively in these dynamic, high-churn environments.

The proposal introduces an Identity-Based Encryption (IBE) framework specifically designed for securing agentic AI workflows. In the proposed system, each agent, tool, and workflow …
