Anti-Gang Architecture: Youth, Labor, And Spatial Agency In Mexico, Arturo Resendiz May 2026

Anti-Gang Architecture: Youth, Labor, And Spatial Agency In Mexico, Arturo Resendiz

Bachelor of Architecture Theses - 5th Year

Anti-Gang Architecture: Youth Labor, & Spatial Agency in Mexico

In many parts of the world, teenagers face environments shaped by violence, drug abuse, and limited opportunity. The absence of inclusive communities deepens youth disconnection, leaving them vulnerable to harmful influences. This research explores how architectural qualities can create spaces that protect, inspire, and connect with Mexican youth, specifically in cities like Matamoros, Tamaulipas, where public space has lost its capacity to support safe youth development.

The central question guiding this research is: How can architecture create environments that inspire youth identity, develop creativity, and offer alternatives to violence and drug …

Synthergy: Social Deduction And Deception In Llm-Powered Agents, Lauren Campbell, Andrew Forney May 2026

Synthergy: Social Deduction And Deception In Llm-Powered Agents, Lauren Campbell, Andrew Forney

Honors Thesis

Synthergy is an online social deduction game designed to enable comparative analysis of how large language model-powered agents engage in social deduction and deception under conditions of asymmetric information. Inspired by social deduction games such as Town of Salem, Throne of Lies, and Mafia, the game consists of two factions, Harmony and Discord, to which agents are secretly assigned. Agents must infer others’ affiliations through dialogue, in-game abilities, and voting behavior. To evaluate agent behavior, we conducted 100 simulated games across six agent types: a random baseline agent (RandomSynth), an LLM-based agent (Synth), a chain-of-thought agent (CoT Synth), a Bayesian …

On Sequences Arising From The Action Of Modular Group, Tuncay Köroğlu, Bahadir Özgür Güler May 2026

On Sequences Arising From The Action Of Modular Group, Tuncay Köroğlu, Bahadir Özgür Güler

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This paper examines the sequences produced by the natural action of specific elements of the modular group on extended rational numbers. The polynomial sequences Pr(c) and Qr(c) are derived from the orbit of the point at infinity under a specific modular transformation. These sequences satisfy linear recurrence relations, which are analyzed using generating functions. The polynomials encode k-Fibonacci numbers, and studying their behavior modulo a fixed integer m reveals notable arithmetic and combinatorial properties. We also explore the connection between these modular actions and Farey graphs, illustrating the hyperbolic transformations as nested geodesic paths in the upper half-plane.

A Module Theoretic Approach To (B,C)-Invertibility, Tuğba Pakel, Burcu Üngör, Handan Köse, Sai̇t Halicioğlu, Abdullah Harmanci

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we introduce and investigate the concept of an (r, f)-inverse in the context of modules, drawing inspiration from the (b, c)-inverse, which is the analogous notion in ring theory. We demonstrate the uniqueness of (r, f)-inverses in modules whenever they exist. We provide some necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of (r, f)-inverses in modules.

Proportion Of Nilpotent Subgroups In Finite Groups And Their Properties, João Victor Monteiros De Andrade, Leonardo Santos Da Cruz May 2026

Proportion Of Nilpotent Subgroups In Finite Groups And Their Properties, João Victor Monteiros De Andrade, Leonardo Santos Da Cruz

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This work introduces and investigates the function J(G) = Nil(G) / L(G) , where Nil(G) denotes the number of nilpotent subgroups and L(G) the total number of subgroups of a finite group G. The function J(G), defined on the interval (0,1], represents the proportion of nilpotent subgroups relative to the total number of subgroups, including trivial ones. It serves as a tool for analyzing structural patterns in finite groups, particularly in nonnilpotent families such as supersolvable and dihedral groups. Analytical results reveal the distribution of J(G) values across products of dihedral groups, emphasizing its density over (0,1]. Additionally, a probabilistic …

Comparisons Of Some Weighted Mixed Biased Estimators For The Linear Regression Model, Dünya Karapinar, Murat Polat, Ni̇met Özbay, Selahatti̇n Kaçiranlar

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

This paper presents comparative results on the two-parameter weighted mixed estimator, which is a distinct class of estimator defined to address the problem of multicollinearity. The two-parameter weighted mixed estimator is a general estimator that includes the weighted mixed estimator, the weighted mixed Liu estimator, and the weighted mixed ridge estimator. Detailed comparisons among the mentioned estimators are carried out based on the matrix mean square error. Theoretical findings are supported by two numerical examples in addition to a Monte Carlo simulation study.

Leveraging Multimodal Large Language Models For Fall Risk Reduction In Older Adults In The Home: Proposed Model Design, Justin Do, Vivaswat Suresh, Lily Zhang, Bharvi M. Chavre, Jeremy Cha, Robert S. Pugliese

SKMC Student Presentations and Publications

This research letter proposes a novel model design leveraging natively multimodal large language models to identify fall risks and generate visualizations of recommended home environmental modifications, aiming to improve the accessibility and impact of personalized fall prevention advice for older adults. Through a pilot rating study, this work demonstrates that multimodal large language models can generate safe and actionable advice to reduce fall risk in lived spaces of older adults, and also generate realistic edits based on original images. While this concept needs further testing and clinical comparison, it highlights a promising avenue for further innovation of fall prevention tactics.

Information Usage As A Performance Driver In Supply Chains: Integrating Machine Learning, Structural Modeling, And Efficiency Analysis, Asli Z. Dag May 2026

Information Usage As A Performance Driver In Supply Chains: Integrating Machine Learning, Structural Modeling, And Efficiency Analysis, Asli Z. Dag

Harrisburg University Dissertations and Theses

The present study investigates ways in which companies utilize information to improve suppliers’ performance within their supply chains. In the literature, the existing studies focus largely on information sharing between companies and suppliers, while less is known about how organizations then apply shared information during decision-making in ways that impact outcomes for suppliers. Importantly, the extant research demonstrates that information sharing can improve the visibility of issues arising along the supply chain, raise the coordination between those within the chain, and reduce uncertainty about the necessary supply and demand; however, the benefits in these areas remain limited unless the relevant …

Ecocide In Palestine: A Call For A New Criminal Designation For Environmental Crimes, Carley A. Bomrad May 2026

Ecocide In Palestine: A Call For A New Criminal Designation For Environmental Crimes, Carley A. Bomrad

UC Law Environmental Journal

Gaza has frequently been the target of environmental damage from Israel. Dating back to its immigration to Palestine, Israel has impacted Palestine’s water systems, destroyed its natural landscape, and forcibly changed much of the landscape through invasive species. This environmental harm is only worsened by the repeated conflict in the region, which has damaged infrastructure and water systems and caused contamination of air, water, and soil. Gaza was already struggling with these environmental concerns, coupled with its susceptibility to climate change, when the conflict with Israel intensified in October 2023. All progress that was being made to strengthen Gaza’s infrastructure …

Flood Education In Lewisburg, Ellie Torrisi, Emily Cook, Hanna Mozayeni

Final Reports in ENST 411: Environmental Community Projects

In partnership with Debra Sulai and Lewisburg Neighborhoods, the goal of this project is to build flood resilience and education in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.  Lewisburg is located in a high-risk flood zone due to its proximity to the Susquehanna River, Miller Run, Buffalo Creek, and Limestone (Bull) Run. The Borough has experienced significant flooding throughout its history, most notably in 1972, when Tropical Storm Agnes devastated the town. Renters which comprise 65% of Borough residents, are less likely to be aware of flood risk. The goals of this project were to help increase awareness of flood risk, encourage residents and businesses …

Understanding Behavioral And Representational Divergences Of Humans And Machines, Thomas Lasman Botch May 2026

Understanding Behavioral And Representational Divergences Of Humans And Machines, Thomas Lasman Botch

Dartmouth College Ph.D Dissertations

Human behavior and cognition are strikingly variable: people differ from one another in their preferences and abilities, and even from themselves across situations. Yet this diversity arises from common neural machinery shaped by the complex environments humans inhabit. A central objective of cognitive neuroscience is to understand how this varied experience emerges from interactions between brains, agents, and environments. In this dissertation, I argue that comparing behavior and neural computation across humans, artificial systems, and contexts is essential for understanding the flexibility of human cognition. Across three chapters, I use this comparative approach to examine how the rich, multimodal contexts …

Influence Of Semantic Richness On Word Form Learning In Children With Developmental Language Disorder, Mckenzie Scoppa, Sara Benham, Allison Gladfelter, Amanda Steeb, Lisa Goffman May 2026

Influence Of Semantic Richness On Word Form Learning In Children With Developmental Language Disorder, Mckenzie Scoppa, Sara Benham, Allison Gladfelter, Amanda Steeb, Lisa Goffman

CISLL Publications

Purpose:

Children with developmental language disorder (DLD) show a word form learning deficit, characterized by inaccurate and variable productions of novel words. We investigated whether, when a novel word form is introduced, incremental exposure to either a sparse visual referent or a relatively semantically rich story influences the phonetic accuracy and the phonological and articulatory variability of production in children with DLD and their typically developing (TD) peers.

Method:

Thirty-six preschoolers (18 DLD, 18 TD) aged 4;1–5;11 (years;months) were exposed to six novel words, two in each of three semantic cue conditions: no cues, sparse cues (visual referent), and rich …

The Risk Of Bpa In B Lymphocyte-Mediated Autoimmunity, Mario J. Palacios May 2026

The Risk Of Bpa In B Lymphocyte-Mediated Autoimmunity, Mario J. Palacios

Senior Honors Theses

Autoimmune disorders disproportionately affect females, a bias largely attributed to estrogen's modulation of B lymphocyte development and tolerance. Bisphenol A (BPA), a common plastic monomer, shows estrogenic activity and acts as an endocrine disruptor and epigenetic modifier. This thesis examines how BPA may increase autoimmune risk by mimicking estrogen such that it can excite estrogen receptors which rescue autoreactive B lymphocytes from apoptosis. While direct research linking BPA to B lymphocyte-mediated autoimmunity is limited, understanding BPA’s course of action in B lymphocytes is critical for addressing the rising prevalence of autoimmune diseases and its possible link to the increased and …

Geopolitical Chessboard: How Vietnam Shapes American-Chinese Competition, Kiet H. Lê, Hiep X. Trần May 2026

Geopolitical Chessboard: How Vietnam Shapes American-Chinese Competition, Kiet H. Lê, Hiep X. Trần

The US Army War College Quarterly: Parameters

Vietnam’s geostrategic position—bordering China and commanding key South China Sea maritime routes—makes it a pivotal actor in shaping great-power competition in Southeast Asia. This article argues that the United States should support Vietnam’s neutrality and strategic autonomy as a means of countering Chinese influence. Unlike prior studies that portray regional states as passive players, this analysis highlights Vietnam’s active role in influencing regional dynamics. Through comparative analysis with the Philippines, using historical case studies, geographic assessments, and policy reviews, the article offers practical insights for military and policy practitioners on how geography shapes alliance formation and strategic competition.

Key Themes In Sino-American History, David J. Lorenzo, Ian Murphy May 2026

Key Themes In Sino-American History, David J. Lorenzo, Ian Murphy

The US Army War College Quarterly: Parameters

This article examines how historical narratives shape the messaging of the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Republic of China, particularly regarding Sino-American relations. It identifies three key historical themes—trade, discriminatory policies, and Taiwan—that are frequently invoked in China’s statements and information campaigns. By contextualizing these themes, the article argues that military and national security professionals need a deeper understanding of Sino-American history to interpret China’s messaging correctly and counter its influence effectively. The article advocates for the integration of Sino-American historical content into professional military education curricula to enhance strategic awareness and policy formulation.

An Overdue Message: Increasing Colorectal Cancer Screening Rates Among Black Residents Of Massachusetts, Lauren R. Ritterband May 2026

An Overdue Message: Increasing Colorectal Cancer Screening Rates Among Black Residents Of Massachusetts, Lauren R. Ritterband

Capstones

Colorectal cancer is widely understood as a potentially devastating diagnosis. Late-stage diagnosis portends a high likelihood of morbidity and mortality, in stark contrast to survival rates for patients whose cancer is diagnosed when localized. Early detection through screening is therefore of critical importance. Black residents of Massachusetts have a higher incidence of colorectal cancer than white residents and are more likely to be diagnosed at stage four. Lower screening rates amongst Black residents represent one of multiple factors leading to worse morbidity and mortality from colorectal cancer. Despite clear recommendations from the US Preventive Services Task Force [USPSTF] that all …
