Comparative Analysis Of Bacterial Recbcd And Sbcc-Sbcd Systems And The Yeast Mre11-Rad50 Complex During Dna Replication, Tannos Seyedjavadi Sep 2026

Comparative Analysis Of Bacterial Recbcd And Sbcc-Sbcd Systems And The Yeast Mre11-Rad50 Complex During Dna Replication, Tannos Seyedjavadi

Dissertations and Theses

Accurate completion of DNA replication when forks converge is essential for genome stability. In Escherichia coli, several proteins have been identified including RecG, ExoI, RecBCD, and SbcCD, that contribute to completing replication, and loss of these factors causes genetic instability. Eukaryotes encode proteins with homology to several E. coli completion enzymes. Mre11–Rad50 complex is structurally and functionally conserved with bacterial SbcCD, and Rrm3 shares homologous motifs with bacterial RecBCD. These proteins are often described as being involved in homologous double strand break repair. Whether they are also conserved and play a similar role as their E. coli counterparts in …

Sub-Saharan African Women’S Experiences Of Social Support During Childbirth In Finland, Emma Kwegyir-Afful, Anita Wikberg

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Background: Over 50% of the estimated 90 million international migrants in Europe are women, many of whom are of childbearing age (Fair et al., 2020). Poorer pregnancy and birth outcomes are common among ethnic minority women (Soltani et al., 2020). In Finland Sub-Saharan African women (SSAW) are more likely to undergo caesarean section than Finnish women (Bastola et al., 2020).

Social support which is both informational (providing information for problem-solving) and emotional (offering care and/or trust) is key social determinant of health. It can be acquired through informal networks such as friends, family, and ethnic communities or through formal networks …

The Psychosocial Experience Of Black Pentecostal Pastors In Western America Post-Pandemic, Isaiah Kelley Sep 2026

The Psychosocial Experience Of Black Pentecostal Pastors In Western America Post-Pandemic, Isaiah Kelley

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted religious institutions, altering how Black pastors provided spiritual leadership, community support, and social connection. Limited research has examined how these disruptions affected the social identity and psychosocial well-being of African American Pentecostal pastors. This qualitative phenomenological study explored the lived experiences of 11 African American Pentecostal pastors in the western United States following COVID-19 church closures. Guided by social identity theory, semi-structured interviews examined changes in participants’ social identity. Data were analyzed using Moustakas’s phenomenological approach: first- and second-cycle coding, member checking, reflective journals, and thematic analysis. Four themes emerged: psychological and emotional burden, social isolation …

Teachers’ Perceptions Of The Challenges Related To Science Vocabulary Instruction In Wyoming Elementary Schools, Alexis Barney Sep 2026

Teachers’ Perceptions Of The Challenges Related To Science Vocabulary Instruction In Wyoming Elementary Schools, Alexis Barney

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Science vocabulary supports conceptual understanding, engagement in scientific discourse, and achievement across content areas. The problem addressed in this study was Wyoming’s low literacy and science performance, as indicated by standardized and national test scores, highlighting the critical need for improved vocabulary instruction to close gaps in content-specific terminology that hindered elementary students’ understanding and achievement. The purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore Wyoming elementary science teachers’ perceptions of challenges, instructional strategies, and recommendations for improving science vocabulary instruction. Guided by Vygotsky’s (1978) constructivist theory and the concept of the zone of proximal development, the study included …

Respondent superintendent moves for summary judgment dismissing this RPAPL §713(11) holdover on the ground that petitioner's notice of petition materially departed from the mandatory form prescribed by AO/163/19 and 22 NYCRR §208.42(b): the "Language Help" multilingual section contained corrupted characters, organizational boxes were omitted, and prescribed emphasis and visual spacing were eliminated. Court holds that "mandatory" means the prescribed form must be used—it is not suggested language from which a petitioner may construct a substitute—and applies the First Department's strict compliance standard from Riverside Syndicate, Inc. v. Saltzman, 49 AD3d 402 [1st Dept 2008]. The departures impair the form's access-to-justice …

Quality Improvement Project: Electronic Consent's Influence On Consent Error Rates, Alexis Fogle Sep 2026

Quality Improvement Project: Electronic Consent's Influence On Consent Error Rates, Alexis Fogle

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Surgical consent errors increase the risk of inaccurate documentation, compromise patient safety, and disrupt procedure times. Evidence indicates that adopting electronic consent can optimize workflow, support accurate and complete documentation, improve readability, and enhance record reliability. This project evaluated whether initiating electronic consent, compared with handwriting surgical consent forms, reduced the number of improper surgical consent forms completed over six weeks. Roy’s Adaptation Model guided the change process, and the Theory of the Person as an Adaptation System provided the theoretical basis. The Plan-Do-Study-Act model supported evidence-based implementation of the electronic consent intervention. The quality improvement project was conducted on …
