Why Do People Share Social Networking Site Passwords With Their Romantic Partners? The Antecedents And Explanations For Social Networking Site Password Sharing In Romantic Relationships, Megan Vendemia, Jennifer L. Bevan
Communication Faculty Articles and Research
Our study examined antecedents and explanations for sharing social networking site passwords with romantic partners. U.S. adults currently or recently in romantic relationships (N = 948) completed an online survey assessing relationship characteristics and reasons for password sharing. Results indicated that relationship satisfaction, relationship length, and social networking site jealousy predicted password sharing. Younger participants were also more inclined to share passwords with their romantic partners. Partner distrust/suspicion reasons were negatively related to relationship satisfaction; relationship strength/security reasons were positively related to social networking site jealousy. Our findings suggest that future digital privacy interventions should emphasize both the benefits …

Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women worldwide. Prompt and accurate diagnosis is imperative for the treatment of cervical cancer through the utilization of pap smear slides, albeit it is a multifaceted and time-intensive process. An automatic diagnosis model based on deep learning models, particularly a convolutional neural network (CNN), can enhance cervical cancer's accuracy and rapid identification. This paper proposes a cross entropy-based multi-deep transfer learning model for the early detection and categorization of cervical cancer cells. The proposed model consists of four phases: the pre-processing phase, the feature extraction and fusion phase, the …

Tossing Sand In The Regulatory Gears: Hurdles To Policy Progress In The Supreme Court, Nina A. Mendelson
Articles
In the last few years, the Supreme Court has been a source of seismic change. In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Court overruled Roe v. Wade, which had protected the right to abortion for nearly fifty years. In Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo, the Court abandoned so-called Chevron deference to particular categories of administrative agency interpretations, a doctrine viewed as bedrock for over forty years. Humphrey’s Executor v. United States, the 1935 ruling validating independent multi-member commissions such as the Federal Trade Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Federal Communications Commission, may soon join the others on the …

Cell plasticity, changes in cell fate, is crucial for tissue regeneration. In the lung, failure of regeneration leads to diseases, including fibrosis. However, the mechanisms governing alveolar cell plasticity during lung repair remain elusive. We previously showed that PCLAF remodels the DREAM complex, shifting the balance from cell quiescence towards cell proliferation. Here, we find that PCLAF expression is specific to proliferating lung progenitor cells, along with the DREAM target genes transactivated by lung injury. Genetic ablation of Pclaf impairs AT1 cell repopulation from AT2 cells, leading to lung fibrosis. Mechanistically, the PCLAF-DREAM complex transactivates CLIC4, triggering TGF-β signaling activation, …

Mitochondrial Memory: Transgenerational Trauma, Functional Medicine, And Quantum Physics, Rosalynn A. Vega
Anthropology Faculty Publications
Building from Karen Barad’s “diffractive methodological approach” (2007, 71), this article combines Mariella Pandolfi’s notion of the female body as a transgenerational “physiological memoir” (1990, 255) with functional medicine perspectives on mitochondria and advances in quantum physics around “entanglement” to explore a new concept—“mitochondrial memory.” Recent findings in biological research depict a communicating collective of mitochondria distributed across different “human” organs and describe how this collective controls many aspects of human health through epigenetic mechanisms. Since exact copies of mitochondria are inherited through the maternal line, I draw from anthropological theory, functional medicine research, and recent discoveries in physics to …

Background: One in eight children experience early life stress (ELS), which increases risk for psychopathology. ELS, particularly neglect, has been associated with reduced responsivity to reward. However, little work has investigated the computational specifics of this disrupted reward response - particularly with respect to the neural response to Reward Prediction Errors (RPE) - a critical signal for successful instrumental learning - and the extent to which they are augmented to novel stimuli. The goal of the current study was to investigate the associations of abuse and neglect, and neural representation of RPE to novel and non-novel stimuli.
Methods: One hundred …

Troubleshooting And Diagnostics Of Electronic Computing Devices Using The Object Model Creation Method, Gulmira Shuxratovna Abidova, Asad Xolboy O’Gli Shosalmanov
Chemical Technology, Control and Management
This paper presents a major challenge in fault diagnosis for electronic computing equipment is developing an object model tailored to support diagnostic tasks. Effective fault localization requires establishing a link between the diagnostic process and the object model. This connection should enable direct observation of diagnostic points and organize all potential defect and fault sources to clearly show their impact on each diagnostic point and the relevant parameters. Achieving this necessitates comprehensive information about parameter values, expected variations, and the permissible relationships between network elements that generate these parameters. Therefore, building a robust model is essential to facilitate accurate fault …

Mild Acidic Charcoal: Adsorption, Analysis, And Application, Rajendra Patil, Jagdish Chavan, Shivnath Patel, Anil Beldar
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
The adsorption of glacial acetic acid over a charcoal support was investigated. The amount of adsorption was analyzed using a traditional titration method and the prepared adsorbed system was employed as a heterogeneous catalyst for organic reactions as a viable application. Different 14-aryl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes were synthesized using mild acidic charcoal as a catalyst and yields of 88%–94% were obtained. The advantages of this method include the easy preparation of a cheaper and environmentally safe catalyst system, a simple work-up procedure, and excellent catalytic efficacy.

Synthesis Of Isocyanate Containing Cryogels For Fast (Bio)Molecular Immobilization, Merve Bat Özmatara, Tuğçe Ni̇hal Gevrek
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Cryogels containing isocyanate reactive groups were synthesized via photopolymerization of 2-isocyanoethyl methacrylate (ICEMA) and poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMEMA) monomers. Changing ratio of monomers with respect to each other, series of cryogels with varying ratio of reactive isocyanate groups were successfully prepared. Characterization of the cryogels was carried out using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and rheometry techniques. To demonstrate that molecules containing amine groups can be immobilized onto the synthesized cryogels through the reaction between isocyanate and amine groups, cryogels were conjugated with 4-(trifluoromethyl)benzylamine (TFBA) and fluorescein amine (FLA) molecules, and …

Selective Pericyte Recruitment To Ec-Lined Tubes, Vessel Assembly Enhancement Through Pericyte Timp-3 Induction, And Pericyte Tbx2 In Capillary Formation And Maturation, Ksenia Marilyn Yrigoin Kaluguina
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Capillaries, the smallest blood vascular networks, are formed by narrow and elongated endothelial cell (EC)-lined tubes with associated pericytes anchored to the abluminal tube surface. Our laboratory demonstrated that dynamic interactions between ECs and pericytes during capillary tube network assembly are required for basement membrane matrix deposition and maturation. We have also shown that key EC-derived factors promote pericyte recruitment, proliferation, and pericyte-induced basement membrane formation during capillary assembly. In the first section, we aim to identify if vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) respond to the same factors and have the same invasive ability as pericytes since they are both …

The abundance of Lp(a) protein holds significant implications for the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), which is directly impacted by the copy number (CN) of KIV-2, a 5.5 kbp sub-region. KIV-2 is highly polymorphic in the population and accurate analysis is challenging. In this study, we present the DRAGEN KIV-2 CN caller, which utilizes short reads. Data across 166 WGS show that the caller has high accuracy, compared to optical mapping and can further phase approximately 50% of the samples. We compared KIV-2 CN numbers to 24 previously postulated KIV-2 relevant SNVs, revealing that many are ineffective predictors of KIV-2 …
