Colossians 2:16 has been a much-debated text, with no consensus reached yet as to its meaning. In view of this, it was felt that the passage should be re-examined to see if a better understanding of the text could be reached.

The study begins with a survey of the recent literature It is found that opinion on the meaning of the word [sabbaton] in Colossians 2:16 is divisible into four groups: Those who feel it meant the seventh-day sabbath in toto, those who feel that it meant the ceremonial sabbaths, those who feel that it meant the Jewish part of …

Master of Sacred Theology Thesis

The purpose in writing this thesis is to attempt to objectively clarify and evaluate the Latter-day- Saint interpretation and application of the doctrinal revelation of marriage for eternity to determine whether it is biblical. The thesis will be divided into three major parts: Part I: The Latter-day Saint Concept of Marriage for Eternity as Derived From Doctrine and Covenants 132:1-33 and Matt. 19:3-8 and 22:23-30: Part II, The Biblical Concept of Marriage Based on Matt. 19:3-8 and 22:23-30; and Part III: A Comparison and Evaluation: of Latter-day Saint and Biblical Concepts of Marriage and Its State After Death.
