Cheap Talk, Deepfakes, Epistemic Injustice, False Light, And Free Speech, Cosim Sayid
Cheap Talk, Deepfakes, Epistemic Injustice, False Light, And Free Speech, Cosim Sayid
Idaho Law Review
Defamation is a more or less effective tool in tort law to stop damage to one’s reputation, which can be grievous and even lead to a death of despair, but its scope is limited to content that’s literally false. Much reputational harm does not proceed via literally false content; it is a matter of images or what’s implied. Against this opponent an effective False Light tort is of much use when properly understood as a reputational—rather than privacy—tort. False Light can be wielded against conversational implicature as well as deepfakes. It fulfills our moral imperative to not succumb to cheap …

Md/Mba Dual Degree Trends In Ophthalmology Residency: A 12-Year Analysis (2013-2025), Katherine Krishna, Brandon Chou, Felipe Echeverri Tribin, Steven J. Gedde
Journal of Academic Ophthalmology
Background: The number of Medical Doctor and Master of Business Administration (MD/MBA) dual degree programs has grown fivefold in the last two decades, reflecting an increased integration of business training in medical education. Despite this growth, the role and prevalence of MD/MBA degrees among ophthalmology residents remain largely uncharacterized.
Purpose: To characterize trends in prevalence, demographics, and educational patterns of MD/MBA dual degree holders among U.S. ophthalmology residents who entered residency between 2013 and 2025.
Methods: Ophthalmology residents in the United States who entered residency between 2013 and 2025 (n = 5,684) were included, with 80 MD/MBA …

An Innovative Surgical Simulator For Globe And Orbit Procedures, Anuj U. Patel, George Lin, Rishi Hoskeri, Chelsea L. Reighard, Marguerite C. Weinert, Zahra Nourmohammadi, David Zopf
Journal of Academic Ophthalmology
Background: Increased access to procedural opportunities for trainees in ophthalmology is needed to refine critical surgical skills, including manipulating and suturing the conjunctiva and sclera.
Purpose: To develop an in vitro high-fidelity globe and orbit model, made from synthetic materials and 3D-printing techniques, and to report our experience using the model in a structured wet lab training session on conjunctival and scleral suturing.
Methods: The model was implemented into two resident wet lab courses. Trainees and expert evaluators were asked to perform the same procedures. Evaluators were asked to incise and repair the simulated conjunctiva and sclera …

Formulation Strategies For Next-Generation Bispecific Antibodies: Design Considerations And Stability Implications, Priya Patel, Vaibhav D Bhatt, Nirav Patel
Bulletin of Faculty of Pharmacy Cairo University
Bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) represent a transformative class of next-generation biologics, enabling simultaneous binding to two targets and offering mechanisms of action beyond conventional monoclonal antibodies. Their growing clinical success, particularly in T-cell–redirecting therapies, has increased the need for robust formulation and Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) strategies to support complex molecular designs, high potency, and multiple delivery routes. However, BsAbs present unique challenges due to structural heterogeneity, asymmetric domain interfaces, aggregation propensity, and sensitivity to physical and chemical stresses. This review provides a structured overview of formulation strategies for BsAbs, integrating molecular design considerations, developability assessment, and Quality by Design …

Japanese Public Health Nurses' Culturally Sensitive Disaster Nursing In Islands - Focusing On Soc, Miki Marutani, Sagiri Aoki, Yukiko Anzai, Hiroko Okuda, Mayumi Kako, Susumu Fukita
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Objective: Natural disasters are intensifying due to climate change. Sense of Coherence (SOC) enhances a community's resilience to disasters (Sutton et al., 2020). Public health nurses (PHNs) are required to enhance people's SOC to prevent health crises(Sofyana et al., 2022).Previous studies found that PHNs in islands recognized that while islands are vulnerable to disasters, they also possess a culture regarding disaster preparedness(Marutani et al., 2020) .This study identifies elements within the culture of remote islands, as understood by public health nurses, that align with SOC.
Methods:In 2023–2024, we conducted semi-structured interviews with seven PHNs on five islands regarding disaster-related culture. …

Economic Policies And Their Role In Enhancing Innovation: An Econometric Study Of South Korea (1996–2024), Ahmad M. Habeeb, Mahdi Saleh Sulaiman Al-Rikani
Muthanna Journal of Administrative and Economics Sciences
This research aims to study and analyze the impact of macroeconomic policies (fiscal, monetary, and trade) on promoting innovation in South Korea during the period 1996-2024 using the ARDL model. The results of estimating the model’s parameters in the short and long run showed a stable equilibrium relationship, with an error correction coefficient of –0.173. This indicates that the Korean economic system possesses a self-correcting mechanism that restores equilibrium shocks within approximately 5 years and 9 months. The results also demonstrated the importance of education spending and the money supply in stimulating and promoting innovation, while trade liberalization had a …

This is not just a story of kidney transplantation in a tertiary care hospital in a tier-2 city of South India. It is all about a true clinical journey of resilience, where a young woman with congenital hearing loss, battling chronic kidney disease, discovered hope, understanding, and companionship through a physician assistant's compassionate communication.

Guided Tissue Regeneration Of Localized Deep Combined 2-To-3- Wall Angular Defects: A Clinical Case Report With 15-Month Follow-Up
Journal IDA
Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting nearly 50 percent of U.S. adults. It is characterized by the irreversible destruction of the alveolar bone, periodontal ligament, and gingival tissues supporting the teeth. Periodontal breakdown results from a dysbiotic relationship between the plaque bacteria and host-immune response. Initiated by the bacterial plaque biofilm, the once normal and homeostatic host defenses intended to contain the subgingival inflammation become dysregulated and hyperactive. A diagnosis of an infrabony defect, also known as intrabony, vertical, or angular defects, is made when the base of the pocket is apical to the alveolar crest. It has been …
Role Of Microsurgery In The Evolution Of Periodontal Surgery
Role Of Microsurgery In The Evolution Of Periodontal Surgery
Journal IDA
Microscopes and microsurgery techniques have revolutionized the field of periodontology, offering enhanced visualization, precision, and improved clinical outcomes. This review explores the role of magnification in periodontal treatments, the benefits of microsurgical techniques, and their impact on patient recovery and procedural success. It examines how these advancements align with evolving surgical principles and addresses their implications for clinical practice and patient outcomes. By integrating microsurgery into periodontics, clinicians can achieve minimally invasive procedures with superior aesthetic and functional results. This paper also discusses the challenges and future directions of microsurgical applications in periodontics, emphasizing the importance of continual advancements and …
Dental Sticky Situations
Journal IDA
Dentists dace ethical dilemmas in their clinical practice and in the daily running of their offices. These ethical situations are not always black and white or a choice between right and wrong. The truth is that most ethical situations facing dentistry are somewhere between the 256 shades of grey or differences between bad or worse and perhaps better and best.
