Background: The present study aimed to evaluate the presence of hepatitis A virus (HAV) and enterovirus (EV) in raw milk and dairy products and highlight the potential significance of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in the detection of foodborne viruses.
Methods: A total of 165 samples of dairy products (including milk cream and kareesh cheese, 15 samples each) and 135 raw milk samples were randomly collected from different households with either hand milking or bulk tanks in Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, over a period of 28 months from July 2020 to November 2022), using real-time PCR as a diagnostic method.

This research attempts to inquire at the genetic differences in the β-lactoglobulin gene (β-LG) along with how it affects mastitis tolerance/susceptibility in Baladi goats. For the purpose of extracting DNA, blood samples have been gathered from thirty female Baladi goats and loaded into tubes containing the anticoagulant disodium EDTA. PCR was implemented to amplify the β-LG gene's 427 base pairs. PCR-DNA sequencing analysis spotted β-LG gene differences taking the form of C390A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) correlated with mastitis tolerance in Baladi goats (GenBank with accession numbers submissions gb|PP265530|, and gb|PP265531|| for healthy and mastitic does accordingly). Objective: The current study aimed to assess the direct effects of poor water quality on the eruption of heavy harmful algal blooms and to assess the physicochemical properties of water in Lake Manzala, as well as the molecular identification of the retrieved green algae.
Procedures: Subsurface water samples were collected from three different sites in September 2023 for water quality assessment. Moreover, morphological and molecular identification of suspected harmful algae is the most reliable diagnostic tool for this eruption.

OBJECTIVES The current study aimed to evaluate the influence of Spirulina Platensis inclusion on biochemical indices besides meat quality in broilers.
METHODS One hundred newly hatched meat-yielding chicks purchased from a local hatchery in Gamasa City were randomly divided into five groups, with 20 birds per group.
RESULTS Spirulina platensis acted as an excellent growth-promoting agent. Spirulina platensis inclusion at doses of 0.5, 1, and 2 g in the poultry diet enhanced growth performance indices, as body weight, body weight gain, feed consumption. Background: Fipronil (FPN) a phenyl pyrazole insecticide, is widely applied in agriculture and veterinary products. However, its use is accompanied by neurotoxic effects. Hence, the current study was designed to assess the possible neuroprotective action of Nigella sativa extract (NS) against FPN-induced neurobehavioral toxicity in Wister male albino rats.
Methods: Thirty male albino rat weighing one hundred fifty to one hundred eighty grams. Animals were given FPN (12.6 milligrams per Bodyweight) orally or pre-treated using NS (100 and 200 mg/kg BW, respectively). The research study had been carried out within a four-week period.

Background: This work aimed to explore the genetic characteristics of the GH gene in dromedary camels.
Methods: Thirty dromedary she-camels were used to provide blood samples using disodium EDTA as an anticoagulant for DNA extraction. Using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), the 613-bp GH gene was amplified. The dromedary she-camels that were enrolled were examined for polymorphisms in the GH gene (613 bp) using the PCR-DNA sequencing method.

Biochemical, molecular, and histopathological alterations are the most noticeable clinical and pathological characteristics attributed to diabetes mellitus. An imbalance in these parameters increases the risk of developing complications. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to determine the cardiac and hepatic protective effects of ellagic acid-loaded zinc nanoparticles (EA-ZnNPs) on diabetes, which were evaluated biochemically, molecularly, and histopathologically.

Objective: This research investigates the impact of inulin, a fructo-oligosaccharide (FOS), on enhancing the chemical, microbial, and sensory attributes of yogurt, aiming at improving its overall quality and shelf-life. Design: Through a controlled experimental setup, yogurt samples were prepared with 1.5% concentrations of inulin and analyzed against control samples over different storage conditions. Results: Our findings indicate that the control group has a better sensory profile than the inulin-treated samples, and microbial stability by fostering the growth of beneficial Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB), thereby enriching the yogurt's probiotic profile. Through a case study design, this research examined whether mask usage in communication partners influenced speech perception in a 5-year-old child, and if so, what that effect was. Participants were recruited using a mix of electronic and physical flyers. Participants had to meet all inclusion criteria, including being English speaking, typical developing, and the age of 5 years for the duration of the study. Typical development was determined through the usage of three screeners; hearing, articulation, and language. Three children were screened, but only one met all inclusion criteria for the study. With broad lyric range, the ecopoems in Green center around the ideology and ethics of the American West. The speaker’s position within that as a descendent of settler laborers is interrogated, as well as language itself. Grammar is used as a tool to perform deconstructive work, examining how labor intersects with colonialism and climate change. Melding intellectual analyses of etymology with the physical act of agricultural labor, these poems range from the conversational and playful to lyric explorations of loss.

Motion and Rest is a collection of lyric, experimental, and hybrid poems that feature transit as a recurring trope. The speaker of these poems travels through town on a bicycle, through the sky on a plane flying backwards in time, on a train through the countryside, and, among water aerobicizers, from one end of the pool to the other. Along with physical space, the speaker traverses emotional space, moving through boredom, worry, curiosity, aching, inertia, presence, and play, slowing at times, but avoiding a full stop.

A novel set contemporaneously in rural Montana, Sudden Oak Death follows two protagonists, Wade and his teenage daughter Paige. Each are fighting different addictions, as Wade is in alcoholism recovery, and Paige recently came home from a drug treatment program. In order to succeed, Paige must reintegrate herself into public high school, despite suffering from undiagnosed dyslexia. Wade is raising his family as a single father, and struggles to maintain his emotional stability in the face of his own recovery.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is characterized by the accumulation of malignant plasma cells preferentially in the bone marrow. Currently, emerging chemotherapy drugs with improved biosafety profiles, such as immunomodulatory agents and protease inhibitors, have been used in clinics to treat MM in both initial therapy or maintenance therapy post autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT). We previously discovered that caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), a water-insoluble natural compound, inhibited the growth of MM cells by inducing oxidative stress. The James Allan Casada Papers consists of materials collected by Dr. James Allan Casada (b. 1942) who was a professor of history at Winthrop University from 1971-1996. Dr. Casada was also the varsity soccer coach from 1975-1987 and was inducted into Winthrop Athletic Hall of Fame. The collection consists mostly of Dr. Casada’s professional research and articles, but also includes materials related to his graduate work, Winthrop teaching records, book reviews, publication materials, and newspaper clippings. A majority of Dr. Casada’s research is related to 19th century and early 20th century explorers, mainly of Africa by British Explorers.

To facilitate the integration of autonomous unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) in day-to-day life, it is imperative that safe navigation can be demonstrated in all relevant scenarios. For UAVs using a navigational protocol driven by artificial neural networks, training and testing data from multiple environmental contexts are needed to ensure that bias is minimised. The reduction in predictive capacity when faced with unfamiliar data is a common weak point in trained networks, which worsens the further the input data deviates from the training data. Green synthesis of photocatalyst bimetallic CuO@NiO nanocomposite for eliminating organic hazardous glyphosate (Gly) solution has been introduced. The nanocomposite has been successfully developed from mango (Mangifera indica L.) peel extracted solution by a simultaneous reduction process. HRTEM, XRD, and EDX have also been used to explore the nanostructure, crystal conformation, and chemical compositions of CuO@NiO. Using UV-vis spectrometer, we have observed the photo-catalytic activity and kinetic removal rate constant of CuO@NiO in terms of glyphosate elimination under UV light illumination. The aim of this research was to develop a novel combination of antioxidant blended film for use as biodegradable packaging in the food industry. The antioxidant film was prepared based on gelatin (G) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) incorporated with Tecoma stans (L.) Juss. ex Kunth petals extract (TKE) at various concentrations (0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mg∙L‒1) via solution casting method. The structural and surface morphology of G/CMC-TKE film were characterized using FTIR spectrometry technique and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), including determining antioxidant activity, water solubility, water vapor permeability, and biodegradability. To investigate the impact of Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) exposure to renewable fuels during handling and storage processes, compatibility tests were conducted on three different renewable fuel mixtures: 30% biodiesel, 40% biodiesel, and 30% biodiesel + 10% hydrogenated vegetable oil. These tests involved static immersion experiments conducted at room temperature for a duration of 1000 h, following the ASTM D471 standards. Before and after the immersion tests, the physical properties and visually assessed elastomers concentrations were investigated by varying the SBR content. In order to dye cellulose or regenerated cellulose with natural dyes, toxic metal mordants are generally employed. In response to this issue, the novel bifunctional cationic agent was pretreated to modify modal (regenerated cellulose) fabric prior to dyeing to enhance the fiber-dye affinity. The cationization reaction was carried out using a compound containing bicationic sites, N,N'-(oxybis (ethane-2,1-diyl))bis(3-chloro-2-hydroxy-N,N-dimethylpropan-1-aminium. This unique cationic agent is capable of producing nonvolatile amine and has no odor problem. Osteochondral lesions, which affect both the cartilage and the bone, present significant challenges in treatment due to the complex mechanical and biochemical properties of these tissues. A crucial consideration in developing tissue replacements for these lesions is the simultaneous regeneration of cartilage and calcified cartilage, which forms the transition zone to bone. Our current study aims to fabricate a bilayer polymeric hydrogel designed not only to support cartilage regeneration but also to serve as an interface between cartilage and bone. Deep Learning Model Compression For Resource-Constrained Environments., Stephen Burke

This study examines the effects of three Deep Neural Network compression techniques—Quantisation, Pruning, and Weight Sharing/Clustering—on CNN and ANN models trained for image classification tasks. The models were tested on the CIFAR-10 dataset for multiclass classification and a binary classification task using a dataset derived from COCO. The best validation accuracy achieved was 74.7% with a CNN on CIFAR-10 and 53% with the best ANN. On the COCO dataset, a modified CIFAR-10 CNN model achieved 75%. The models were compressed using the three techniques and benchmarked on a ThinkPad laptop and Raspberry Pi 3B+ based on metrics relevant for resource-constrained …

Between the 4th millennium and 1st millennium BC, different communities inhabited the region located within the First to the Third Cataracts. These groups obtained, stored, and distributed foodstuff and commodities in various ways. This paper presents archaeological data from this area and period to shed light into storage strategies and facilities in use during this period on the upper course of the Nile Valley in an attempt to better understand subsistence strategies and economies.
