Liquid Modernity Off-Modernity: A Pop-Up Interior In The Middle Of Nowhere, Ayman Kassem Apr 2026

Liquid Modernity Off-Modernity: A Pop-Up Interior In The Middle Of Nowhere, Ayman Kassem

ARSNET

This visual essay examines the pop-up desert café as a contemporary interior condition shaped by mobility, reversibility, and performative occupation. Framed through Bauman’s (2000) liquid modernity and Branzi’s (2002) diffuse modernity, it argues that temporary desert setups are not informal exceptions but design responses to unstable, event-based ways of living. The essay reads the pop-up as a hybrid interior-exterior assemblage, where carpets, furniture, lighting, signage, and social rituals produce atmosphere and collective presence. Using collages on photography taken by the author-co-created with architect Moustafa Abdulwahed—as a method, the visual essay journey moves from photographic observation to extraction and speculative recomposition, …

Facsimiles, Russell Soh Apr 2026

Facsimiles, Russell Soh

Student Theses

An excerpt:

Hi Everyone, I’m currently in the process of organizing and sketching out a series of prose proems based on a small multitude of notes I’ve accrued over the last six months. These notes are essentially notes towards the writing of various poems (around 8). The idea is basically to turn these notes, or these would-be poems, into a series of abstracted ‘facsimiles’, like tangible ghosts trapped in a simulacrum of the poem. I need to be reacquainted with the prose poem, or at least my idea of it.

Uncertainty Handling In Stock Market Prediction: A Fuzzy Markov Chain Approach, Alpa Singh Rajput, Arpan Singh Rajput Apr 2026

Uncertainty Handling In Stock Market Prediction: A Fuzzy Markov Chain Approach, Alpa Singh Rajput, Arpan Singh Rajput

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Predicting the stock market is never easy because it is influenced by many uncertain and constantly changing factors such as economic conditions, investor behaviour, and global events. Traditional models like the Crisp Markov Chain (CMC) try to predict market movements by using fixed probabilities for different states like bullish, bearish, or stagnant. However, real markets do not behave in such a strict way—they often move gradually between states, which these models fail to capture. To overcome this limitation, this study introduces a Fuzzy Markov Chain (FMC) model, where fuzzy logic is used to handle uncertainty and allow smoother transitions between …

Modeling Agentic Artificial Intelligence Uncertainty In Agriculture Based 6generation: A Hybrid Q-Rung Orthopair Fuzzy Mcdm Methodology, Zekra Sakr, Mona Mohamed

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

In era of advanced intelligent revolutions, the collaboration between intelligent technologies became imperative. For instance, integrating 6G communications with agentic artificial intelligence considered a catalyst to shift agriculture sector into optimized and intelligence sector. This integration resulted in transitioning the sector from static automation to autonomous, agent-based ecosystems. Accordingly, the efficiency roles for artificial intelligence agents (AIAs), deploying and selecting optimal AIA is important. Yet, selection process is still difficult because agricultural criteria are multifaceted and there are inherent environmental uncertainties. To address these challenges and bolster the selection process, this paper suggests a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) that bolstered …

An Improved Logarithmic Ratio-Product Type Estimator For Mean Modeling And Estimation Under Neutrosophic Uncertainty, Anchal Yadav, Mukesh Kumar

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

In classical statistics, population mean estimation generally assumes precise and determinate data along with known auxiliary information. However, in real-world situations where observations are imprecise or expressed in interval form, such as temperature variations or financial market data, classical approaches become less effective. To address this limitation, neutrosophic statistics provide a more flexible framework for handling uncertainty and indeterminacy. This study proposes a neutrosophic logarithmic ratio-product type estimator for estimating the finite population mean using auxiliary information. The bias and mean squared error (MSE) of the proposed estimator are derived using a first-order approximation. Furthermore, performance evaluation is carried out …

Enhanced Parametric Approach For Solving Interval-Valued Trapezoidal Neutrosophic Linear Fractional Programming Problems, Hamiden Abd El- Wahed Khalifa H.A.Khalifa, Moodi Abdulrahman Abdullah Al-Rajeh, Sultan S. Alodhaibi

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

Neutrosophic sets (NSs) generalize the classical versions, by providing a flexible framework capable of representing incomplete, inconsistent, and unclassified data that frequently arises in practical decision frameworks. In this study, a linear fractional programming (LFP) problem with uncertain parameters is investigated. All coefficients in the objective function (OF) as well as the left- and right-hand sides of the constraints are represented using fully trapezoidal neutrosophic numbers (NNs). By employing a suitable score function, the proposed neutrosophic LFP model is transformed into an equivalent scalar LFP problem. Subsequently, a parametric solution procedure is established to regulate the neutrosophic optimum solution. This …

Gauss Elimination Method For Solving The System Of Neutrosophic Linear Equations, Elsayed Badr, Shokry Nada, Saeed Ali, Aya Rabie

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

This paper proposes a unified computational framework for solving linear systems under trapezoidal Neutrosophic uncertainty. The system is formulated as A( I )x = b( I ), where both the coefficient matrix and the right-hand side vector incorporate an indeterminacy parameter I, expressed as A( I ) = A0 + IA1 and b( I ) = b0 + Ib1. A decomposition strategy is developed to separate the model into deterministic and indeterminacy components, yielding a solution of the form x( I ) = x0 + Ix1. The deterministic component is obtained via …

Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences Faculty Articles and Research

Ongoing climate warming may profoundly impact terrestrial gross primary productivity (GPP), a key component of the global carbon cycle. However, uncertainty in the relative roles of atmospheric water demand (vapor pressure deficit, VPD) and root-zone soil moisture (SM) limits predictions of drought impacts on GPP. Here, we show that growing-season GPP was more strongly constrained by VPD than SM globally, based on observation-constrained model estimates, satellite retrievals and Dynamic Global Vegetation Model simulations. The importance of VPD increased with higher temperatures and more severe and prolonged droughts. This pattern reflects VPD’s critical role in regulating stomatal conductance and plant hydraulic …

Greeting Death “Sitting Up:” How Children’S Literature Provides Modern Death Education, Reilly Kendrick Apr 2026

Greeting Death “Sitting Up:” How Children’S Literature Provides Modern Death Education, Reilly Kendrick

Honors Theses

Western culture places a lot of importance on legacy and friendship as important lessons to learn from death. However, children do not have as much experience with death due to changing cultural customs, and our society lacks a formal death education system that can promote these values and teach children how to respond to death in their lives. Literature, though, can fill this gap in children’s knowledge by teaching the basic physical components of death and philosophical understandings of death. These ideas are learned through vicarious reading, in which children experience the character’s emotions and reactions as they read. The …

Matrix-Bound Tenascin-C Directs Neuronal Differentiation Through Stiffness-Tuned Meha Hydrogels Mimicking The Spinal Cord Microenvironment, Nic D. Leipzig, Jessica Onyak, Vasanti Dhakate, Rounak Pokharel Apr 2026

Matrix-Bound Tenascin-C Directs Neuronal Differentiation Through Stiffness-Tuned Meha Hydrogels Mimicking The Spinal Cord Microenvironment, Nic D. Leipzig, Jessica Onyak, Vasanti Dhakate, Rounak Pokharel

University Research

Spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to a complex remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM), where Tenascin-C (TNC) is strongly upregulated during the early phases of the injury cascade. While TNC is known to influence neural cell behavior, its functional role and mode of presentation in guiding neuronal differentiation remains unclear. In this study, we developed a stiffness-controlled methacrylated hyaluronic acid (MeHA) hydrogel platform that mimics the mechanical properties of the spinal cord and enables defined matrix immobilization of TNC. In vivo analyses showed elevated TNC expression from day 1, with the strongest perilesional signal during the subacute period (1 week–1 …

A consistent postmortem finding in schizophrenia (SCZ) is reduction in dendrites' size. However, neurons with larger dendritic trees have also been encountered. In vitro experiments with neurons and neuronal-like cells coming directly from patients with SCZ showed similar results, evidencing at times more extensions and at others less arborizations. The process of extending and retracting neuronal outgrowths depends on microtubules polymerization and depolymerization. The possibility that microtubule polymerization/depolymerization is related to defects in the neuronal structure comes from several microtubular anomalies reported in SCZ such as its abnormal distribution in the cytoplasm, irregular shape of microtubules and even absence of …

Salon Music For Professionals: An Analysis And Performance Guide To Two Programmatic Suites For Flute And Piano By Theodor Blumer (1881–1964), Brenna Sherman

Dissertations and Doctoral Documents, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 2023–

Theodor Blumer (1881–1964) was an early twentieth-century German composer, pianist, and conductor whose substantial contributions to the flute repertoire have received little scholarly attention. Despite his prolific output and close association with leading wind performers of his time, his music remains largely absent from contemporary scholarship and performance. This dissertation addresses that gap by presenting a comprehensive biographical timeline, defining Blumer’s compositional aesthetics, and completing an in-depth analytical examination of his programmatic works for the flute.

Drawing on primary source materials from Blumer’s estate—including personal correspondence, photographs, and dated manuscripts—this study constructs the first full biography of Blumer. Central to …
