Sexual Dimorphism, Altered Hippocampal Glutamatergic Neurotransmission, And Cognitive Impairment In App Knock-In Mice., Caleigh A Findley, Samuel A Mcfadden, Tiarra Hill, Mackenzie R Peck, Kathleen Quinn, Kevin N Hascup, Erin R Hascup

Articles

BACKGROUND: It is well established that glutamatergic neurotransmission plays an essential role in learning and memory. Previous studies indicate that glutamate dynamics shift with Alzheimer's disease (AD) progression, contributing to negative cognitive outcomes.

OBJECTIVE: In this study, we characterized hippocampal glutamatergic signaling with age and disease progression in a knock-in mouse model of AD (APP

METHODS: At 2-4 and 18+ months old, male and female APP

RESULTS: Glutamate recordings support elevated stimulus-evoked glutamate release in the DG and CA3 of young APP

CONCLUSIONS: These findings confirm a sex-dependent hyper-to-hypoactivation glutamatergic paradigm in APP

Some Similarity Measures On Generalized Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Soft Expert Sets And Their Applications In Medical Diagnosis, Afshan Qayyum, Noreen Mushtaq, Tanzeela Shaheen, Wajid Ali, Florentin Smarandache Nov 2024

Some Similarity Measures On Generalized Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Soft Expert Sets And Their Applications In Medical Diagnosis, Afshan Qayyum, Noreen Mushtaq, Tanzeela Shaheen, Wajid Ali, Florentin Smarandache

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

In recent years, the application of fuzzy sets has gained significant attraction in various fields, including medical diagnosis, due to their ability to manage uncertainties and imprecise information. This paper focuses on the comparative analysis of similarity measures within the realm of Generalized Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Soft Expert Sets (GIVIFSESs) and explores their application in the domain of medical diagnosis. Most of the important topics in fuzzy set theory are the similarity measures between the generalizations of fuzzy set theory. Similarity measures are a crucial tool which was used in data science. In this process, we measure how much the …

Venomcap: An Exon-Capture Probe Set For The Targeted Sequencing Of Snake Venom Genes, Scott L. Travers, Carl R. Hutter, Christopher C. Austin, Stephen C. Donnellan, Matthew D. Buehler, Christopher E. Ellison, Sara Ruane

Faculty Publications

Snake venoms are complex mixtures of toxic proteins that hold significant medical, pharmacological and evolutionary interest. To better understand the genetic diversity underlying snake venoms, we developed VenomCap, a novel exon-capture probe set targeting toxin-coding genes from a wide range of elapid snakes, with a particular focus on the ecologically diverse and medically important subfamily Hydrophiinae. We tested the capture success of VenomCap across 24 species, representing all major elapid lineages. We included snake phylogenomic probes in the VenomCap capture set, allowing us to compare capture performance between venom and phylogenomic loci and to infer elapid phylogenetic relationships. We demonstrated …

72 | 'Akko Iii. The 1991–1998 Excavations: The Late Periods. Part I: The Hospitaller Compound, Eliezer Stern, Danny Syon

IAA Reports—Monograph Series of the Israel Antiquities Authority

Akko III: The Late Periods comprises two parts (IAA Reports 72 and 73), the third and fourth volumes in a series publishing the results of four excavations that took place within and just outside of the Old City of ‘Akko between 1991 and 1998. These two volumes present the archaeological finds from the Early Islamic to Ottoman periods, concentrating on the architecture and small finds from the Crusader period.

The present volume (Part 1; IAA Reports 72) presents the excavations at the site of the Hospitaller Compound. The Introduction comprises a brief survey of the history of ‘Akko from the …

Variation In Craniodental Pathologies Among Cercopithecoid Primates, Claire A. Kirchhoff, Siobhán B. Cooke, Jessica C. Gomez, D. Rex Mitchell, Tyler Stein, Claire E. Terhune

Biomedical Sciences Faculty Research and Publications

Pathologies of the skull and teeth are well documented for many human populations, but there are fewer studies of other primates. We contrast lesion prevalence and patterning among cercopithecoid primates and map variation onto socioecological variables. We compare craniodental lesions in six species: Nasalis larvatus (n = 54), Colobus polykomos (n = 64), Cercopithecus mitis (n = 65), Macaca fascicularis (n = 109), Theropithecus gelada (n = 13), and Papio anubis (n = 76). One of us (C.A.K.) evaluated each adult skull for multiple lesion types using standard criteria. We also tested for a …
