K-Popization: A Study Of The Visuals Of Music Videos By Girl Groups In Southeast Asia, Kai Ho Ng
K-Popization: A Study Of The Visuals Of Music Videos By Girl Groups In Southeast Asia, Kai Ho Ng
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This research examines the visual homogenization of music video (MV) production among Southeast Asian girl groups under K-pop's influence—a phenomenon termed K-popization—to elucidate its localization processes within this complex, multi-layered region. It addresses three key research questions: (1) What are the characteristics of K-popization? (2) How are K-pop visual elements localized? and (3) How can communication design practices investigate K-popization in MV production? The study analyzes MVs from K-pop and SEA-pop girl groups uploaded to YouTube (each with over 10,000 views) between January 2019 and July 2025, encompassing 76 Southeast Asian girl groups (296 MVs) and 111 Korean girl groups …
Dérive And Drawing As Urban Research Tools To Uncover Spatial Patterns Of Street Practices In Bangkok: The Area Around Nana Bts Station As A Case Study, Miao Chen
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study employs the Situationist strategy of dérive and drawing as research tools to examine the everyday practices and spatial characteristics of Bangkok’s streets under conditions of governance ambiguity. Taking the area around Nana BTS station as a case study, the research identifies seven activity nodes formed through the aggregation of everyday practices. Through repeated path observations at different times of day, it traces the processes by which street users and vendors gather, negotiate, and interact, thereby revealing distinctive spatial patterns and rhythms of use. Furthermore, the study applies experimental mapping to translate these findings into visual form. This process …

Efficacy Of 0.3% Cannabidiol (Cbd) Oral Paste For Treatment Of Recurrent Aphthous Ulcers, Fuengboon Talkijkul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
0.1% Cannabidiol (CBD) was reported to be suitable as an alternative management for Recurrent Aphthous Ulcers (RAU) due to its analgesics and anti-inflammatory effects. This study aimed to examine 0.3 % CBD when compared to 0.1% CBD, 0.1% Triamcinolone Acetonide (TA) oral paste and pure oral paste in the treatment of RAU. For safety investigations, 100 healthy subjects were examined for allergic reaction to 0.3% CBD oral paste compared to pure oral paste, then 50 healthy subjects were evaluated for local and systemic effects of 0.3% CBD oral paste in which blood tests were performed before drug application and seven …
Effect Of Solvent On Nonanoic And Azelaic Acids Yield Enhancement From Oxidative Cleavage Of Oleic Acid, Chakreeya Santhadklang
Effect Of Solvent On Nonanoic And Azelaic Acids Yield Enhancement From Oxidative Cleavage Of Oleic Acid, Chakreeya Santhadklang
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study investigates the effect of solvent choice on the oxidative cleavage of oleic acid using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as the oxidant, with a focus on improving the yields of nonanoic acid (NA) and azelaic acid (AA). Solvent selection was found to play a critical role due to polarity differences between the reactants and oxidants. tert-Butanol was unsuitable because of its low boiling point, leading to the evaluation of higher-boiling solvents including guaiacol, acetoin, ethyl lactate, and isobutyric acid. Guaiacol and acetoin exhibited undesirable chemical reactivity, while ethyl lactate resulted in low yields due to hydrogen bonding with intermediate species. …
Quality Of Life Prediction For Driving Route Planning System Using Image Recognition And Deep Learning, Intouch Prakaisak
Quality Of Life Prediction For Driving Route Planning System Using Image Recognition And Deep Learning, Intouch Prakaisak
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Assessing travel-related Quality of Life (QoL) is a significant challenge due to its reliance on subjective human perception, which is difficult to measure. Traditional studies are often constrained by the limited scope of costly, manual data collection. The significant contribution of this research is the introduction of a new framework that can analyze tourist perception on a large and systematic scale. The novelty of this work lies in the utilization of Google Street View (GSV) as a large-scale visual data source, coupled with the use of a sequence-based model to analyze travel routes, which allows for the simulation of the …
Electrochemical Reduction And Regeneration Of Carbamate, Nattiya Jumpadib
Electrochemical Reduction And Regeneration Of Carbamate, Nattiya Jumpadib
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
A reliable method for removing carbon dioxide (CO2) gas from industrial emissions involves CO2 absorption into monoethanolamine (MEA) solution to achieve carbon neutrality. However, the regeneration of MEA is costly and still requires heat to release the CO2 that was captured and other processes to manage the CO2 onwards. Our research demonstrates that integrating CO2 capture with electrochemical CO2 conversion reduces regeneration processes and converts CO2 into valuable products. The electrochemical reduction and regeneration of MEA-CO2 adduct (carbamate) were investigated simultaneously by using copper pulse-electrodeposited on copper foils as a cathode in a microchannel reactor. The gas products were analyzed …
Properties Modification Of High-Density Polyethylene Blending With Polypropylene Carbonate-Grafted-Stearic Acid, Suphiriya Khongphom
Properties Modification Of High-Density Polyethylene Blending With Polypropylene Carbonate-Grafted-Stearic Acid, Suphiriya Khongphom
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The purpose of this study is to improve the mechanical properties of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) by incorporating it with polypropylene carbonate-grafted-stearic acid (PPC-g-ST). PPC was modified with stearic acid to enhance interfacial adhesion and compatibility between HDPE and PPC. The blends were prepared using an internal mixer at 160°C with a rotation speed of 60 rpm for 8 minutes. PPC-g-ST was added to PPC at 3, 5, 7, and 10 wt% contents. FTIR confirmed the formation of ester linkages between the carboxylic groups of stearic acid (ST) and the hydroxyl groups of PPC through the appearance of characteristic absorption bands. …
Comparative Analysis Of Gut Microbial Diversity In Early Decomposition Stages Of Human Cadavers In Thai Population, Ameer Muhammad Khan
Comparative Analysis Of Gut Microbial Diversity In Early Decomposition Stages Of Human Cadavers In Thai Population, Ameer Muhammad Khan
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Abstract:The human gut microbiome undergoes pronounced shifts following death; however, its early postmortem dynamics remain insufficiently understood. This study characterizes microbial diversity in cecal samples collected from Thai cadavers during the early postmortem interval (PMI) to establish foundational data for forensic applications. Samples obtained within two PMI ranges (1-6 hours and 6-12 hours) were subjected to 16S rRNA gene sequencing targeting the V3–V4 regions on the Illumina MiSeq platform. Microbial communities were evaluated using taxonomic profiling, alpha and beta diversity analyses, and differential abundance testing via LEfSe. Distinct microbial succession patterns were observed between PMI groups: Agathobacter was significantly enriched …
Immunophenotype In Major Depressive Disorder Patient, Muanpetch Rachayon
Immunophenotype In Major Depressive Disorder Patient, Muanpetch Rachayon
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is associated with immune dysregulation, yet the combined effects of T-cell activation, T regulatory (Treg) cell deficits, and the failure of immune checkpoint mechanisms on illness severity remain unclear. This research investigated these factors in patients with acute MDD compared with healthy participants. Using multi-parameter flow cytometry, we analyzed T-cell markers of activation (CD40L, CD71), regulation (CD152, GARP), apoptosis (CD95), and exhaustion (TIM3) under unstimulated and stimulated conditions; cytokine levels were also measured. Patients showed increased activated T helper and cytotoxic T-cells (CD4+CD40L+, CD8+CD40L+) and reduced Tregs, with this imbalance strongly predicting depression severity. Lower CD95 …

Storytelling In Traditional Ips And Consumer Engagement : A Case Study Of Blackmyth:Wukong, Yuqing Liu
Storytelling In Traditional Ips And Consumer Engagement : A Case Study Of Blackmyth:Wukong, Yuqing Liu
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study investigates how storytelling elements within a traditional cultural intellectual property (IP) drive consumer engagement in the global context. Using Black Myth: Wukong—a modern adaptation of Journey to the West—as the central case, the research examines how plot, character, and verisimilitude influence the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions of player engagement.A hybrid thematic analysis of 431 comments from Bilibili and YouTube reveals that narrative components activate engagement through distinct mechanisms: plot induces a cognitive–affective–behavioral loop, characters trigger emotional–behavioral transformation, and verisimilitude creates a cognition–behavior bridge. Crucially, cultural background moderates these processes. Chinese players engage through cultural proximity, collective memory, …
The Role Of Self-Efficacy In Rehabilitation And Recovery From Ankle Sprains, Bridget M. Walsh
The Role Of Self-Efficacy In Rehabilitation And Recovery From Ankle Sprains, Bridget M. Walsh
Theses and Dissertations--Rehabilitation Sciences
Ankle sprains are among the most common musculoskeletal injuries in the United States. Approximately 2 million ankle sprains occur annually, with an estimated 46% of affected individuals experiencing residual symptoms and developing chronic ankle instability (CAI). In addition to physical impairments, individuals with CAI may exhibit lower physical and psychological health-related quality of life (HRQL). HRQL integrates the physical, psychological, and social domains of a person’s health and is influenced by their experiences, expectations, and perceptions.
Injury-related fear is a common psychological impairment in individuals with CAI and has been associated with decreased physical function, reduced physical activity, and greater …

Problem-solving courts were born out of a well-meaning experimentalist spirit, a spirit that is very much in line with the vision of a recent symposium on the multidoor criminal courthouse. These courts, which include drug courts, mental health courts, veterans courts, and many other specialized criminal courts, were created as a way to close one door to the criminal courthouse — the so-called “revolving door” that appeared to bring some people accused of crimes back into court as soon as they exited. Problem-solving court judges sought to open a different door for some of those who entered their courtrooms, one …

In January 2000 the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bore testimony to the world of the reality, humanity, and divinity of Jesus Christ in a document titled “The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles.” Among its many truths was the following: “He [Christ] was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament.”1 Though this was not the first time Church leadership had declared Christ to be Jehovah, the pronouncement does reemphasize this teaching. It also emphasizes the centrality of Christ in the Old Testament. In fact, the …

Infectious disease plays a key role in shaping marine communities, including in seagrass meadows, which form biodiverse coastal habitats. Eelgrass (Zostera marina) is the most widespread seagrass species and is susceptible to seagrass wasting disease, caused by the protist Labyrinthula zosterae. As a foundation species, eelgrass strongly influences ecosystem structure, function and services; recent work has begun to explore the links between critical community interactions and seagrass wasting disease. Here, we highlight recent advances about how the eelgrass community regulates and responds to seagrass wasting disease, from the microbiome to herbivores and filter feeders. We further show …

[Introduction] Communities across the globe are being affected by climate change in numerous ways. However, those most often affected, especially by sea level rise, are those small island nations that are pressed for space already; this includes the island of Grenada. Grenada is located in the southern portion of the Caribbean and is bordered by the Caribbean Sea (West) and the Atlantic Ocean (East). The planning and development authority (PDA) has been identified as the main stakeholder involved in this case study, but recommendations will be made to all parties involved to best accomplish our mission.
Key stakeholders were initially …

Silicate agrominerals (SA) may be sustainable soil amendments that can minimize dependence on conventional fertilizers (CF). We evaluated the residual effects of SA application as a source of Si and as a soil remineralizer, using soils with contrasting chemical-physical features cultivated with soybean. The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions and treatments were arranged in a 5 × 2 + 2 factorial scheme: five rates of SA, two soils in addition to CF. The soil was incubated before cultivation, followed by the sequential sowing of corn and soybean. At the R4 phenological stage, when the pods were fully developed, soybean …
Spatial And Temporal Patterns In Short-Term Surface Sediment Deposition And Accretion At The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve: Implications For Resilience Of Coastal Wetlands To Sea-Level Rise, Jacob Michael Berna
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Coastal wetlands are at risk of drowning due to the increasing threat of rising sea levels. Wetlands will have to build in elevation vertically or migrate horizontally to survive. Previous research has demonstrated that some wetlands have the potential to naturally build in elevation over time if deposition and accretion rates from allochthonous sediment delivery are substantial, but work in this area has been limited, and many coastal wetlands remain understudied. Portions of Northeast Florida are especially lacking in short-term surface deposition and accretion data. Without surface rates it is difficult to determine the vulnerability of different wetlands to rising …
Dynamics Of Prey-Prey Mutualism With Varying Carrying Capacity And Herd Behavior In The Presence Of Predator, Felix Dela Djokoto
Dynamics Of Prey-Prey Mutualism With Varying Carrying Capacity And Herd Behavior In The Presence Of Predator, Felix Dela Djokoto
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study investigates the dynamics of mutualistic relationships between two prey species in the presence of a predator, by taking into account herding in one species along with the influence of carrying capacities between two prey species. These mutualistic dynamics are presented by constructing two mathematical models, namely an indirect and direct mutualism model. As the strength of the symbiotic relationship increases the indirect model goes through transcritical bifurcation to Hopf bifurcation whereas in the direct mutualism model goes through saddle-node bifurcation to Hopf bifurcation.
Severe Aggression Among Zoo-Housed Coconut (Trichoglossus Haematodus) And Rainbow (Trichoglossus Moluccanus) Lorikeets: Wellbeing Considerations For Free-Flight Aviaries, Emily Simkins
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
As conservation and education institutions, modern zoos balance the needs of animals with the interests of visitors through several strategies which can increase animal wellbeing and improve visitor experience. Environmental enrichment is frequently employed to increase the suitability of anthropogenic environments for zoo-housed animals, such as through walkthrough habitats and free-flight aviaries. While habitats such as these are important for visitor experience and can be enriching to animals, there are also wellbeing considerations for these spaces. Walkthrough habitats can be a potential source of fear and stress for animals, as shown by increased frequencies of vigilance, undesirable behavior, and aggression. …

What’S For Dinner? A Multi-Pronged Approach Investigating The Foraging Habits And Diet Of St. Johns River Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops Erebennus), Andrea Leigh Swinehart
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Wildlife population management depends on knowledge of the population’s foraging ecology. A community of resident Tamanend’s bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops erebennus) utilizes the St. Johns River (SJR) in Jacksonville, Florida, and members of the community are regularly sighted emaciated or with skin lesions. Anthropogenic disturbances may contribute to further health decline, therefore Chapter One analyzed SJR foraging dolphin group habitat use before, during, and after a large-scale dredging event known as the Jacksonville Harbor Deepening Project (JHDP). Kernel density estimates (KDEs) of foraging dolphin group sightings were generated to estimate 95% utilization distributions (i.e., foraging home ranges) for three …

The Presence Of Mercury (Hg) And Perfluoroalkyl Substances (Pfas) In The Guana And Tolomato Rivers, Morgan E. Lattomus
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The Guana and Tolomato Rivers provide essential habitat for several ecologically and economically important species and is a well-loved and recreated area. Spanning the northeastern Florida coast, the rivers are home to over 50 endangered or threatened species and host several habitat restoration projects due to their ecological significance and proximity to development along the coast. The effects of human influence and pollution, and specifically toxic metal mercury (Hg) and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), are not well known within the system. Hg is known to biomagnify within food webs, and there is a considerable lack of literature concerning PFAS behavior within …
