Failed Gay Rights Amendment To Mankato's Human Rights Ordinance In Mankato, Minnesota In 1987, Kellian Clink
Failed Gay Rights Amendment To Mankato's Human Rights Ordinance In Mankato, Minnesota In 1987, Kellian Clink
Library Services Publications
In 1987, small but passionate people urged the city to pass an amendment to Mankato’s existing human rights ordinance to protect LGBTQ+ communities. Advocates argued that gays were entitled to the same rights as straight people and were looking for protection in housing and employment, particularly. They demonstrated that people had lost jobs, housing, and access to dance venues. Some opponents equated gays with promiscuity, child molestation, solicitation, sin, and AIDS; some were convinced it was not needed; some pinned their arguments on the existence of laws already on the books. This narrative is based on articles from the local …

Welcome to Mindful Technical Writing: An Introduction to the Fundamentals, an open textbook designed for use in corequisite course pairings of developmental writing and introductory technical writing, or indeed in other lower-division college writing courses that focus on building study skills alongside effective workplace and academic writing skills. It offers a no-cost alternative to commercial products, combining practical guidance with interactive exercises and thoughtfully designed writing opportunities.
This textbook is organized into units, though its chapters are modular so that instructors can select and assign readings and exercises for their particular classes rather than be tied to a fixed route …

Subjective Time Estimation In Rats: Seconds To Minutes, Alissa Christensen
Subjective Time Estimation In Rats: Seconds To Minutes, Alissa Christensen
Holster Scholar Projects
Time estimation is important for survival. Importantly, time estimation is subjective, influenced by a variety of factors.
We used a temporal bisection task (Church & Deluty, 1977) to determine the degree to which a rat “feels” a stimulus is long/short in reference to predetermined anchor durations.
Animals were first trained to respond differently to a short (3s) and long (6s) duration light-cue. This was followed by intermediate duration probes (averaging 4.5s). Most animals treated the intermediate intervals as long. The function varied, some showing a more linear response while others a step function.
The second phase examines longer time estimation, …

The Compass: Earth Science Journal of Sigma Gamma Epsilon
Frank Delno Holland, Jr., was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, on March 6, 1924. All family and friends, including his students and professional acquaintances, knew him as Bud. His parents were Frank D. Holland and Francys Bell Holland. His paternal grandparents, O.B. and Laura Holland were North Dakotans who had homesteaded in Sargent County during the 1880s, but had relocated to Kansas in 1903. Bud had a rural upbringing on the outskirts of Leavenworth, graduating in 1942 from Leavenworth High school. It seemed natural that he would follow in his father’s footsteps by attending the University of Kansas (KU) so Bud …

The Quest For Sacred Truth In A Secular Society What Is Fueling Gen Z’S Return To Faith And Church Attendance In America?, William W. Dornbush
Doctor of Ministry (DMin)
This dissertation investigated the Critical Research Question: What are the key external factors influencing Generation Z’s internal quest for spiritual renewal? The study examined biblical, historical, and contemporary revival movements, including the Exodus, Pentecost, the Great Awakenings, the Jesus Movement, Charismatic Renewal, Brownsville, Toronto, and Asbury, to identify recurring patterns linking external pressures to spiritual awakening. Using a qualitative design, the study conducted semi-structured interviews with twelve Generation Z participants who experienced spiritual searching, renewal, or a deepened faith between 2020 and 2025, exploring how contemporary external pressures influence spiritual openness and transformation. The findings revealed six major themes: (1) …

Leader-Follower Formation-Based Leader Velocities Estimation Via Adaptive-Τ Tustin Differentiator, Zeyad A. Karam, Mohammed Y. Hassan, Amjad J. Humaidi
Iraqi Journal of Computers, Communications, Control and Systems Engineering
This work develops a leader–follower formation for differential-drive mobile robots with an explicit estimator for the leader's velocities. Firstly, a leader robot position-variance-adaptive, under-rate-limited differentiator provides forward speed and yaw-rate estimate for the leader velocities, using exponentially weighted increment variances that drive a convex one-sided mapping to provide adaptive time constants for this estimator. Secondly, the control stack couples three layers: first layer, a nonlinear body-frame kinematic law for leader tracking, with orientation corrections handled via a smooth bounded function sin(eθ)/eθ to eliminate singularities near zero error. Second layer, a formation-preserving follower controller based on …

Energy-Efficient Resource Allocation In Cloud Service Management Via Significant Feature Ranking With Recurrent Network Model, C. Arun, S. Santhoshkumar, J. Jegathesh Amalraj, T. Suresh
Iraqi Journal of Computers, Communications, Control and Systems Engineering
The increasing adoption of cloud computing (CC) produces a notable growth in data centres, resulting in severe financial, environmental, and operational problems. To mitigate these issues, energy-efficient resource allocation strategies have been developed as a key solution for enhancing energy utilization while ensuring high performance and reliability. In this framework, machine learning (ML) enables the implementation of dynamic and intelligent approaches for effective resource utilization. In this paper, we focus on the Scalable Hybrid Feature Ranking Framework for Energy-Efficient Resource Allocation (SHFRF-EERA) approach in Cloud Service Management Systems. The novelty of the proposed model lies in the integration of hybrid …

Kenya's aquaculture sector is at a pivotal stage, transitioning from a historical reliance on Nile tilapia and African catfish toward a more diversified production portfolio that integrates indigenous and emerging freshwater and marine species. This shift is increasingly recognized as essential to enhance climate resilience, food security, and ecosystem health. This systematic review synthesizes more than two decades (2000 to 31st January, 2026) of peer-reviewed literature to evaluate the biological suitability, culture performance, and socio-ecological roles of underutilized native taxa, including Ningu (Labeo victorianus), Jipe tilapia (Oreochromis jipe), freshwater prawns (Macrobrachium spp.), rabbitfish (Siganus sutor), marine-acclimatized Nile tilapia, mud crab …

Maximizing The Use Of Interpreters In Shortterm Medical Missions, Barbara L. Loach
Maximizing The Use Of Interpreters In Shortterm Medical Missions, Barbara L. Loach
Great Commission Research Journal
In the debate over the effectiveness of short-term medical missions (STMM), the role of interpreters has received cursory attention. However, the perceived quality of care and the actual care that patients receive, and therefore their receptivity to the organization and the presentation of the gospel by faith-based STMMs, hinges greatly on employing trained interpreters who can reliably communicate on behalf of all parties involved. Each barrier to cross-cultural communication —verbal, non-verbal, and cultural—can and should be addressed to have a successful mission outreach; providing adequate training for all participants in STMM, especially for interpreters, is critical to mediate the communication …
