Roles Of Regulated Cell Death In Cholangiocarcinoma And Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma, Thanpisit Lomphithak
Roles Of Regulated Cell Death In Cholangiocarcinoma And Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma, Thanpisit Lomphithak
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) are complex and heterogeneous cancers. Conventional therapy approaches often fail to elicit significant responses in patients, resulting in low survival rates compared to other cancer types. This could be due to their immunosuppressive and desmoplastic tumor microenvironment, which renders cancer cells resistant to conventional therapies, highlighting the urgent need for more effective therapeutic approaches. Regulated cell death pathways have been extensively studied in recent years as a promising target for developing new strategies in cancer treatment. Specifically, necroptosis and ferroptosis, two forms of regulated necrosis, hold promise as novel targets for treating cancer, …

Academic Leadership Is A Full-Contact Sport: Reflections From A Law School Dean, Jacob H. Rooksby
Academic Leadership Is A Full-Contact Sport: Reflections From A Law School Dean, Jacob H. Rooksby
Law Faculty Publications
Leadership in any setting is hard, often physically as well as emotionally. Academic leadership requires a full-dimensional, mind-body-soul effort that uniquely calls upon one’s baseline character, positionality, and preparation for leadership. Our willingness and ability to read the word as we also read the world combine to shape our approach and range as leaders. And ultimately, our legacy is our imprint on people. This article shares the views of a law school dean on how life experiences, leadership lessons, and book learning intertwine to inform our humanity and charter our influence on people and organizations.
The Banker Removal Power, Da Lin
The Banker Removal Power, Da Lin
Law Faculty Publications
The Federal Reserve (“the Fed”) can remove bankers from office if they violate the law, engage in unsafe or unsound practices, or breach their fiduciary duties. The Fed, however, has used this power so rarely that few even realize it exists. Although major U.S. banks have admitted to repeated and flagrant lawbreaking in recent years, the Fed has never removed a senior executive from one of these institutions.
This Article offers the first comprehensive account of the banker removal power. It makes four contributions. First, drawing on a range of primary sources, it recovers the power’s statutory foundations, showing that …

Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) is a toxic phthalate ester (PAE) plasticizer that is predominantly detected in marine sediment and biota. DEHP degradation by bacteria from several environments has been studied, but very little is known about marine sediment bacteria that can degrade DEHP and other PAEs. Therefore, in this study, we enriched a bacterial consortium C10 that can degrade four PAEs of varying alkyl chain lengths (DEHP, dibutyl phthalate, diethyl phthalate, and dimethyl phthalate ; separately and as a mixture) from marine sediment. The major bacterial genera in C10 during the degradation of the PAEs were Glutamicibacter, Ochrobactrum, Pseudomonas, Bacillus, …

Characterization And Property Investigation Of Novel Human Glucose 6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase Inhibitors In Lung Cancer Cell Lines, Makamas Chanda
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
G6PD plays fundamental roles in many cellular processes, including redox balance and lipid and nucleotide synthesis. Overexpression of G6PD is required to promote the proliferation and survival of cancer cells, including lung cancer. Targeting G6PD is a prominent strategy to inhibit cancer cell progression. Finding novel natural compounds with anticancer properties to inhibit G6PD activity needs to be investigated. Our study indicated that SJ006, which is 1,2-naphthoquinone, promoted cytotoxic activity against NSCLC cell lines. Interestingly, SJ006 exhibited a direct inhibitory effect on G6PD activity without interfering with mRNA or protein levels, which were strongly observed in both A549 and H292. …

Effect Of Joining Paris Agreement To Green Bond Premium In Us Market, Onjira Sukijjakamin
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The paper investigates whether green bonds are priced at a premium compared to conventional bonds by analyzing the yield spread between green bonds and comparable conventional bonds (where a negative yield spread indicates a premium). The study also examines the factors influencing the yield difference including the effect of participating in Paris Agreement to the green bond premium. Initially, the paper expected to find a negative green bond premium, indicating that green bonds have lower yields than comparable conventional bonds, as investors are willing to accept lower yields for the ESG benefits associated with green projects. However, the paper obtained …

Role Of Jak/Stat Signaling Pathway During Viral Infection In Black Tiger Shrimp Penaeus Monodon, Pasunee Laohawutthichai
Role Of Jak/Stat Signaling Pathway During Viral Infection In Black Tiger Shrimp Penaeus Monodon, Pasunee Laohawutthichai
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Janus Kinase/signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK/STAT) signaling pathway plays an important role for antiviral immunity. To stimulate the pathway, the cytokines, interferons, or other stimulators activate the receptor, which is then dimerized and activate JAKs, causing phosphorylation of the tyrosine residues of the receptor. Consequently, STATs are phosphorylated, dimerized and localized into the nucleus to regulate their target gene transcription. This study aims to better understand the role of JAK/STAT signaling pathway in Penaeus monodon during viral infection. From tissue distribution, PmDOME, PmJAK and PmSTAT transcripts were expressed in all tested tissues and up-regulated about 2-fold upon WSSV …

Macrophage-Cancer Cell Interaction In Three Dimension Liver Cancer Model, Pornlapat Keawvilai
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality. Liver cancer progression is significantly influenced by immune cells which infiltrate tumors and their interaction with liver cancer cells in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Circulating monocytes are recruited to tumor site by TME and differentiated into tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) which are roughly divided into pro-inflammatory macrophages (M1) or pro-tumoral macrophages (M2). In order to study the interaction between macrophages and liver cancer cells. In in vitro, an effective liver cancer model which closely mimicks this crosstalk is necessary. This study aimed to fabricate a three-dimension (3D) liver …
