New Virtual Environment Based On Python Programming, Omar Abdulwahabe Mohamad
New Virtual Environment Based On Python Programming, Omar Abdulwahabe Mohamad
Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics
Python is an amazing language for large and complicated programming ventures. This language usescodes that are simple to use or modify for any software programmer. In this paper, one annoying issue during theproject expansion was described. Once a package is updated to the new version, this package is no longer compatiblewith previous projects, causing trouble when working on the program. To solve this problem, Python supports theprogrammer with a function called virtual environment. This function can construct an independent environment forany venture to avoid conflict. Various steps have been explained to create a virtual environment in Python. Differentexamples have then …

BACKGROUND: In response to injury, neurons activate a program of organized axon self-destruction initiated by the NAD
METHODS: To investigate whether naturally occurring human variants might disrupt SARM1 autoinhibition and potentially contribute to risk for neurodegenerative disease, we assayed the enzymatic activity of all 42 rare SARM1 alleles identified among 8507 amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients and 9671 controls. We then intrathecally injected mice with virus expressing SARM1 constructs to test the capacity of an ALS-associated constitutively active SARM1 variant to promote neurodegeneration in vivo.
RESULTS: Twelve out of 42 SARM1 missense variants or small in-frame deletions assayed exhibit constitutive …

Journal of Ocean and Coastal Economics
With increasing attention being paid to the role of marine related activity in promoting sustainable economic growth as well as development in coastal areas, it is important to be able to model the impact of policy decisions in this area in an ex-ante fashion. This paper provides an overview of an Economic, Social, Spatial and Environmental (ESSE) framework developed for impact assessment of ocean related industries. The modelling approach is applied to the ocean economy of Ireland and combines proven methodologies, namely input-output modelling and microsimulation, in order to assess multi-dimensional impacts. The capabilities of the ESSE modelling framework are …

Journal of Ocean and Coastal Economics
The sustainable management of Blue Growth is an urgent issue for coastal states. Marine industries have rapidly expanded over the last two decades and this is projected to continue with the European Green Deal and post-COVID economic recovery policies. The intensification of Blue Growth could have adverse socio-ecological implications and must, therefore, be managed in terms of sustainability, natural resource boundaries, and coastal community well-being. Managing Blue Growth in a sustainable manner however, is challenging due to the longstanding inefficiencies and inertia of existing marine governance regimes. Adopting a transitions approach has been advanced as a way of steering regime …
Key Considerations For The Development Of Internationally Comparable Statistics On Ocean Economic Activity, James Jolliffe, Claire Jolly, Barrie Stevens
Key Considerations For The Development Of Internationally Comparable Statistics On Ocean Economic Activity, James Jolliffe, Claire Jolly, Barrie Stevens
Journal of Ocean and Coastal Economics
Alongside several member countries, the OECD is embarking upon the development of a satellite account for ocean economic activity that presents international statistics in a harmonised manner. This work complements other initiatives at national and international levels and will support future comprehensive ocean accounts that include marine environment-economy linkages and ecosystem services. The production of internationally comparable statistics is a complex and time consuming endeavour that requires international cooperation. For ocean economic activities, such difficulties are compounded by the need to break down existing statistical information using secondary source material. A key preparation for internationally comparable statistics on ocean economic …

This study tries to determine the current Institutional Repository (IR) scenario in the central university libraries of Assam. A systematic questionnaire for the respondents was developed to capture the primary data. The surveys were handed out or sent to the target groups, and they were returned by hand or e-mail. Many conditions must be satisfied to properly establish IRs. According to the current study, the main hurdles to IRs in central university libraries of Assam are lack of technical assistance and high-speed internet connection. Why are certain academics allowed to see their work while others are not? What would make …

Documentation And Preservation Of Endangered Manuscripts Through Digital Archiving In North-Eastern States Of India, Dibanjyoti Buragohain, Manashjyoti Deka, Amit Kumar
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The preservation and conservation of traditional manuscripts is an age old practice. But for the past two decades or so, preserving the endangered manuscripts through digitization has become the prime concern of governments so that such manuscripts can be kept safely for future generations as manuscripts are considered to be an important asset to know our culture and tradition better. The present study primarily highlights the conservation and archival policies adopted by the British Library to digitize the ancient manuscripts of the North-Eastern states of India. The analysis highlights that the state such as Mizoram, Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh …

Biology Faculty Scholarship
Background
Hundreds of millions of people in poor countries continue to suffer from disease caused by bloodfeeding hookworms. While mice and rats are not reliably permissive hosts for any human hookworm species, adult Golden Syrian hamsters are fully permissive for the human and animal pathogen Ancylostoma ceylanicum. Similar to humans, hamsters may be infected with A. ceylanicum third-stage larvae orally or percutaneously. Oral infection typically leads to consistent worm yields in hamsters but may not accurately reflect the clinical and immunological manifestations of human infection resulting from skin penetration.
Methodology/Principal findings
In this study we compared host responses …

DNA preserved in sediments has emerged as an important source of information about past ecosystems, independent of the discovery of skeletal remains. However, little is known about the sources of sediment DNA, the factors affecting its long-term preservation, and the extent to which it may be translocated after deposition. Here, we show that impregnated blocks of intact sediment are excellent archives of DNA. DNA distribution is highly heterogeneous at the microscale in the cave sediment we studied, suggesting that postdepositional movement of DNA is unlikely to be a common phenomenon in cases where the stratigraphy is undisturbed. Combining micromorphological analysis …

Christ And American Culture- Some Biblical Reflections, Paul Raabe
Christ And American Culture- Some Biblical Reflections, Paul Raabe
Concordia Pages
Going beyond H. Richard Neibuhr’s famous paradox model on “Christ and Culture,” Dr. Paul Raabe contends for a biblical, dynamic tension that exists between the culture and the faith. Using the image of a house, Raabe explores four “rooms” : (1) Christianity affirms culture in some respects; (2) Christianity opposes culture in some respects; (3) Christianity leavens culture in some ways; and (4) Christianity uses cultural forms to communicate its message. Each of the four rooms needs to be lived in for maintaining the tension presented in the Scriptures as a faithful witness to the lordship of Christ.

Sperm quantity and quality are key features explaining intra- and interspecific variation in male reproductive success. Spermatogenesis is sensitive to ionizing radiation and laboratory studies investigating acute effects of ionizing radiation have indeed found negative effects of radiation on sperm quantity and quality. In nature, levels of natural background radiation vary dramatically, and chronic effects of low-level background radiation exposure on spermatogenesis are poorly understood. The Chernobyl region offers a unique research opportunity for investigating effects of chronic low-level ionizing radiation on reproductive properties of wild organisms. We captured male bank voles (Myodes glareolus) from 24 locations in the Chernobyl …

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of a pin‐to‐plate cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) on U‐251 MG three‐dimensional (3D) glioblastoma spheroids under different conditions. 3D tumorspheres showed higher resistance to the CAP treatment compared to 2D monolayer cells. A single CAP treatment was able to induce cytotoxicity, while multiple CAP treatments augmented this effect. CAP was also able to induce cytotoxicity throughout the tumoursphere, and we identified that reactive oxygen species(ROS) plays a major role, while H2O2plays a partial role in CAP‐induced cytotoxicity in tumour-spheres. We conclude that ROS‐dependent cytotoxicity is induced uniformly throughout glioblastoma and epidermoid …

Altered fatty acid metabolism continues to be an attractive target for therapeutic intervention in cancer. We previously found that colorectal cancer (CRC) cells with a higher metastatic potential express a higher level of fatty acid translocase (CD36). However, the role of CD36 in CRC metastasis has not been studied. Here, we demonstrate that high expression of CD36 promotes invasion of CRC cells. Consistently, CD36 promoted lung metastasis in the tail vein model and GI metastasis in the cecum injection model. RNA-Seq analysis of CRC cells with altered expression of CD36 revealed an association between high expression of CD36 and upregulation …

The protozoan parasite, Trypanosoma cruzi, causes severe morbidity and mortality in afflicted individuals. Approximately 30% of T. cruzi infected individuals present with cardiac pathology. The invasive forms of the parasite are carried in the vascular system to infect other cells of the body. During transportation, the molecular mechanisms by which the parasite signals and interact with host endothelial cells (EC) especially heart endothelium is currently unknown. The parasite increases host thrombospondin-1 (TSP1) expression and activates the Wnt/β-catenin and hippo signaling pathways during the early phase of infection. The links between TSP1 and activation of the signaling pathways and …

For long-lived species such as marine mammals, having sufficient data on ranging patterns and space use in a timescale suitable for population management and conservation can be difficult. Yawuru Nagulagun/Roebuck Bay in the northwest of Western Australia supports one of the largest known populations of Australian snubfin dolphins (Orcaella heinsohni)—a species with a limited distribution, vulnerable conservation status, and high cultural value. Understanding the species’ use of this area will inform management for the long-term conservation of this species. We combined 11 years of data collected from a variety of sources between 2007 and 2020 to assess the ranging patterns …

Conventional anti-cancer therapies based on chemo- and/or radiotherapy represent highly effective means to kill cancer cells but lack tumor specificity and, therefore, result in a wide range of iatrogenic effects. A promising approach to overcome this obstacle is spliceosome-mediated RNA trans-splicing (SMaRT), which can be leveraged to target tumor cells while leaving normal cells unharmed. Notably, a previously established RNA trans-splicing molecule (RTM44) showed efficacy and specificity in exchanging the coding sequence of a cancer target gene (Ct-SLCO1B3) with the suicide gene HSV1-thymidine kinase in a colorectal cancer model, thereby rendering tumor cells sensitive to the prodrug ganciclovir (GCV). In …

The following mix-genre portfolio represents my work in literary translation, nonfiction, and fiction writing. These poems, essays, and stories explore the role of gender and sexuality in familial and interpersonal relationships in the social, historical, and political context of contemporary Bolivian and American cultures. The characters inhabiting this collection experience alienation while seeking belonging and meaningful connections in the face of an uncertain political future. These pieces explore themes such as marginalization of queer people, the subjugation and closeting of the indigenous in the face of mestizaje, and the colonial legacy shared by Bolivia and the United States.

Genome editing in the lung has the potential to provide long-term expression of therapeutic protein to treat lung genetic diseases. Yet efficient delivery of CRISPR to the lung remains a challenge. The NIH Somatic Cell Genome Editing (SCGE) Consortium is developing safe and effective methods for genome editing in disease tissues. Methods developed by consortium members are independently validated by the SCGE small animal testing center to establish rigor and reproducibility. We have developed and validated a dual adeno-associated virus (AAV) CRISPR platform that supports effective editing of a lox-stop-lox-Tomato reporter in mouse lung airway. After intratracheal injection of the …

Selecting the “best” forage species or species mixture requires a knowledge and understanding of the consuming animal, soil characteristics, and forage species. The multivariate nature of the problem presents challenges to those interested in solving the practical problem of maximizing available resources. Earlier work at Cornell University resulted in a WWW-based interface that allowed the user to provide a soil type or zip code and additional management factors to initiate the species selection. Remote Sensing Application To Grassland Monitoring, Z. B. Nan
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Application of remote sensing to the management of grassland resources, the role this plays in developing sustainable grassland farming systems and opportunities for further development are outlined. Use of remote sensing technologies in grassland monitoring has a history of more than 30 years. Both fine- and coarse-grained remote sensing techniques are used to monitor and study grasslands. Fine-grained techniques are used to study landscape scale processes through the use of sensors providing spatial resolution of a few meters, whereas coarse-grained techniques are used to study catchment scale areas, and even entire biomes, using satellite-based sensors with a spatial resolution of …
