Michigan Journal of International Law

This note examines the operation of the enterprise zone program in the United Kingdom and considers the program's implications for the United States (U.S.), which also suffers from urban industrial decay and which has now begun studying proposals for an enterprise zone program of its own. The note concludes that, based on the limited data available thus far, the enterprise zone program alone is inadequate to lure industry back to depressed areas. The development of an operational anti-satellite capability by the Soviet Union, and the corresponding U.S. effort to develop an anti-satellite capability of its own, are gradually propelling both nations into a space arms race. The militarization of outer space moves forward as both superpowers launch an increasing number of satellites on military missions. This emerging space race has important foreign policy implications for the United States. Will the two superpowers move in the direction of increased competition and possible confrontation in outer space, or will they agree to the need for some kind of achievable space arms control agreement? Mental Health Status Of Vietnamese Refugees In Utah County, Utah, David A. Acree

This study attempted to measure mental health status of Vietnamese refugees in Utah County, Utah. The test instrument used was the Cornell Medical Index (CMI). Two subproblems were considered: First, to see if refugee complaints on the CMI were predominantly physiological or psychological. Second, to see if there was a relationship between CMI scores and a related list of demographic variables.

Results showed the mean CMI score for the sample under study was well above the suggested score indicative of possible psychological dysfunction. For 80% of participants, psychological complaints were predominant over physical complaints. The only variables showing a relationship …

The relationship which exists between the press and foreign policy in American political life has been and still is the subject of much debate. The degree of influence which the press exerts on the State Department has been perceived as ranging from non-existent to powerful enough to topple governments. For example, in 1949, the Communist forces of Mao Zse-dong drove the Nationalist Army of Chiang Kai-shek from the mainland of China. This paper traces the changes in the attitudes and policies of the United States towards the Southeast Asian country of Thailand during the Second World War. From a position of indifference the United States assumed an active role in the emergence of Thailand as a sovereign nation at the conclusion of the war, encouraging pro-American factions and opposing a traditional power of the area, Great Britain.

The emphasis of the paper is on the different attitudes held by Britain and the United States and the efforts to reconcile them. The British expected recompense by the Thais for allying themselves with …

It is the purpose of this thesis to develop a course of study for pharmacy schools on drug regulation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A summarization of the history of the development of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and of pharmacy education reveals a lack of interface between the two.
