The Hall Of Fame For Great Americans: Organizational Comatosis Or Hibernation, William N. Thompson, M. Ernita Joaquin
Public Policy and Leadership Faculty Research
The world’s first organization that has been specifically designated as a “Hall of Fame” was established in New York City in 1900. The Hall of Fame for Great Americans honors 102 Americans. It has served as a model for hundreds of other “halls of fame,” the most prominent being baseball’s Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, established in 1939. While the Hall of Fame for Great Americans remains the original icon in a history of popular culture museums visited by millions each year, the Hall today is little known, visited by scant few, and in a state of both …
International Students’ Engagement With Effective Educational Practices: A Cross-National Comparison, Daniel Edwards
International Students’ Engagement With Effective Educational Practices: A Cross-National Comparison, Daniel Edwards
Australasian Survey of Student Engagement (AUSSE)
Findings from the Australasian Survey of Student Engagement (AUSSE) provide a new and unique means of tracking international students’ participation in higher education. The AUSSE is the largest cross-institutional collection of data from currently enrolled students in Australasia, and has formative links with the 1,200-institution USA National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). The AUSSE has been validated rigorously for use in Australasia, and taps into fundamental aspects of educational quality – students’ engagement with effective educational practices, including important beyond class experiences. Evidence-based feedback such as this plays a critical role in growing and improving Australasia’s international higher education industry. …

The Attitudes Of Middle Eastern Faculty Toward The Use Of Distanceeducation In The Middle Eastern State Universities: A Comparative Study Between The Middle Eastern Faculty And Usa Faculty, Farooq A. Altameemy
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Although distanceEducation is offered in many academic institutions, specifically universities, in most of the developed countries, utilizing it as a part of theEducational system in the Middle East is still in the development stage and not at the same stage as Western and European countries. Of the institutions in the Middle East that have started utilizing distanceEducation, many face difficulties, an example of which is that these distance programs are not accredited by theEducational system in the country. In turn, this leads to other problems for graduates of these distance programs, such as inability to find a job or inability …

The Impact Of An Immunization Training Certificate Program On The Perceived Knowledge, Skills And Attitudes Of Pharmacy Students Toward Pharmacy-Based Immunizations, Zachary A. Marcum, Carrie M. Maffeo, Iftekhar Kalsekar
Scholarship and Professional Work – COPHS
Objective: To assess the impact of a national immunization training certificate program on the perceived knowledge, skills and attitudes of pharmacy students toward pharmacy-based immunizations.
Methods: The study design utilized a pre- and post- survey administered to pharmacy students before and after the American Pharmacists Association’s (APhA) Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery program. The primary outcome explored was a change in the perceived knowledge, skills, and attitudes of the pharmacy students. A five-point Likert scale (i.e. strongly agree = 5, strongly disagree = 1) was used for measuring the main outcomes, which was summated by adding the individual item scores in each …
Performance Dashboards In The United States Government, Devin Barnas
Performance Dashboards In The United States Government, Devin Barnas
Honors Capstones
In this paper, I examine the usage and effectiveness of performance dashboards within United States Government agencies. I gather initial research on performance dashboards used within for-profit entities as well as not-for-profit entities, including governmental establishments, and use this information to develop criteria for an ideal dashboard. I then evaluate dashboards currently in use and available to the public by government entities based on my criteria for an adequate dashboard. I predict that states, organizations, programs, and entities with higher funding and larger size will receive a higher grade for their respective dashboards which will result in a correlation between …

Sputum Neutrophils As A Biomarker In Copd: Findings From The Eclipse Study, Dave Singh, Lisa Edwards, Ruth Tal-Singer, Stephen I. Rennard
Journal Articles: Pulmonary & Critical Care Med
INTRODUCTION: The percentage of neutrophils in sputum are increased in COPD patients, and may therefore be a biomarker of airway inflammation. We studied the relationships between sputum neutrophils and FEV1, health status, exacerbation rates, systemic inflammation and emphysema, and long term variability at 1 year.
METHODS: Sputum samples were obtained from 488 COPD patients within the ECLIPSE cohort. 359 samples were obtained at baseline, and 297 after 1 year. 168 subjects provided samples at both visits. Serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), IL-8, surfactant protein D and C-reactive protein levels were measured by immunoassays. Low-dose CT scans evaluated emphysema.
RESULTS: Sputum neutrophil % …
