BACKGROUND: Culinary medicine, which has recently increased in popularity in medical education, incorporates food and nutritional interventions with principles of disease prevention and treatment. The ultimate goal is to improve overall health outcomes. The growing prevalence of diet-related chronic diseases indicates the need for physicians to have a deeper understanding of the interplay between nutrition and disease. Incorporating culinary medicine into medical education can equip medical students with the necessary skills and knowledge to promote better patient outcomes. The study aimed to identify the degree of public school teachers' practice of moral education in Irbid governorate from the parents' point of view. The study followed the descriptive survey method, and the study used a questionnaire consisting of (14) items to collect its data. It consisted of two areas: the teacher's role in the school, and the school's role in applying moral education. Its validity and reliability were confirmed. There continues to be a lack of representation and diversity in higher education today, especially in medicine and healthcare. As part of the Healthy Hearts student organization at Wayne State University School of Medicine, we developed a one-time educational session and interactive demonstration to teach students about heart and lung health and fuel students’ enthusiasm for healthcare. Researchers do agree that creativity is an ability that can be developed and should be fostered (Guilford, 1958; Parnes, 1961). Teachers play an important role in creativity development and often serve as gatekeepers to identify gifted and talented students (Bianco et al., 2011; Novak & Jones, 2021; Schack & Starko, 1990). However, teachers’ judgment of their students’ creativity often only correlates weakly with the results of creativity measures (Kettler et al., 2018; Torrance, 1963). The Journal of Applied Sport Management (JASM) is the official publication of the Applied Sport Management Association (ASMA), which is a scholarly organization that builds research partnerships between faculty and students. ASMA also facilitates connections between sport management faculty and students studying sport and practitioners working in the sport industry. In 2023, the annual conference was hosted by Samford University under the direction of Dr. Patrick Marsh. With 300 registrants, the 2024 conference was the most attended in ASMA history. To contribute towards filling the research gap on the experiences of uprooted Yemeni children in Egypt, this phenomenological research was designed to explore the experiences of uprooted Yemeni students in Egypt. Twenty male and female Yemeni students from four Yemeni schools in Cairo participated in semi-structured interviews. The findings revealed that these uprooted children face various economic, social, and academic challenges within the Yemeni schools in Cairo, which seem to hinder their educational progress. Moreover, Yemeni children face difficulties not only within the Yemeni schools in Cairo but also in the streets and Egyptian schools of Cairo. Nevertheless, they appeared …

Local wellness policies (LWPs) are state required documents that outline school districts’ goals for improving the physical activity of their students. In Texas, most districts use a template for developing their LWP, which has seven prespecified goals that districts may include or further expand upon to include additional goals. PURPOSE: Determine if physical activity components of districts’ LWPs were related to practices within the district. METHODS: LWPs published by public school districts in Texas were collected from district websites, analyzed for content related to physical activity, and assessed to determine if the district text matched the template. Women and non-white individuals are underrepresented in the scientific community. This may be influenced by a lack of diverse representation of scientists in the media. We studied gender and race representation in Google Image search results by classifying the first 100 Google Image search results for "scientist" by gender and race, and based on the content of the information in the associated webpage. The overall results showed roughly equal representation of males and females, and of white and non-white faces; however, when articles focused specifically on gender were excluded, males made up a larger portion of images. The forensic comparison of paint often provides key evidence in crime scene investigations. Paint analysis involves using attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) to compare the chemical makeup of different chips of paint. Environmentally friendly paints are becoming more common in homes, and this study was conducted to determine if the brand ECOS Paints, which absorbs potentially harmful compounds from the air, changes its chemical makeup over time. ECOS Paints claims that its products are uniquely formulated without the harsh chemicals that can be found in other paint brands. Research suggests that unhealthy eating behaviors occur for various reasons, most notably by perceiving external cues of food, but also from excessive stress. Research also suggests that people cope by either overeating or undereating in response to stress. There are two possible contributing factors to the presence of emotional undereating and emotional overeating: resilience to stress and self-esteem. The purpose of this study was to examine whether self-esteem and resilience limit emotional undereating (EUE) or emotional over-eating (EOE). Here we show that resilience has more of an impact on both EOE and EUE than self-esteem. In a sample of 183 …

Infrared spectroscopy (IR) is a powerful tool in archaeology to understand the chemical composition of artifacts. Bone digenesis is the chemical and physical process by which bones degrade over time. Archeologists discovered that archaeological bones from different excavation sites have different states of physical diagenesis, depending on site conditions. Methods are needed to quantify the chemical aspect bone digenesis. We are using fish scales, from South Inlet Park in Florida as a model to test IR spectroscopy as a new method to quantify bone digenesis.
