Improving Safe Skin Behaviors In High School Freshman, Kelsie Sue Scheer

OBJECTIVE: Sun exposure is common among teenagers but teenagers also have poor sun protection strategies. Sun exposure during adolescence or teenage years is associated with an increased risk of skin cancer later in life. Research suggests that adolescence and childhood are optimal periods to provide information regarding skin cancer and implement a primary prevention program. This project investigates whether or not providing education on skin cancer and safe sun behaviors increases knowledge among high school freshman at a rural Midwestern High School.

Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) implements one required two-week-long shadowing program for first and one one-week-long shadowing program for second-year medical students called Week On the Wards (WOW). The goal of this study is to ascertain whether students who completed the WOW curriculum found it beneficial over the long-term. This paper focuses on investigating the frequency of modern neologisms with an extra-linguistic sources in Corpus of Contemporary American English, respectively the frequency and collocations of these neologisms in the mentioned corpus. A corpus investigation was undertaken: more than fifty neologisms were taken from the corpus. Judging from the data in this study, the analysis and comparisons seem to be exclusively informative and in some cases less common from a linguistic perspective. In the current study we evaluated an afterschool nutrition education programme, called Vetri Cooking Lab (VCL), for promoting healthy and diverse eating habits among at-risk children in the Greater Philadelphia area. To understand potential programme impacts, we conducted a longitudinal analysis of survey data collected before and after participation in VCL. Main study included cooking confidence, cooking knowledge, changes in dietary consumption behaviours, and changes in vegetable preferences. Participants included students in grades 3-11 enrolled in VCL during the 2018-19 school year at VCL sites (n = 60) throughout Philadelphia, PA, and Camden, NJ. BACKGROUND: A better understanding of the relationships between insomnia and anxiety, mood, eating, and alcohol-use disorders is needed given its prevalence among young adults. Supervised machine learning provides the ability to evaluate which mental disorder is most associated with heightened insomnia among U.S. college students. Combined with Bayesian network analysis, probable directional relationships between insomnia and interacting symptoms may be illuminated.

Abstract: The current study aimed to reveal the level of environmental awareness among ninth grade students in the Sultanate of Oman regarding the carbon footprint, considering variables such as gender, educational governorate, and place of residence. The study followed a descriptive-analytical approach, with a sample consisting of 601 ninth-grade students from Muscat and North Al Sharqiyah Governorate. To achieve the study's objectives, an environmental awareness measure prepared by the researchers was applied.
