VA Engage Journal

ABSTRACT

This essay focuses on a Service Learning project which a group of students from my Advanced Composition class at Old Dominion University participated in regarding sexual assault awareness on college campuses. Throughout our class, we learned what Service Learning projects consist of and used what we learned to form our own proposals for projects that would reach from the classroom to the surrounding area to address community issues. We have written about our experiences with this Service Learning project in a reflective essay which acts as our final exam. In doing this, we also have attained our course goals …

Grad Student Guest Post: Recap With The Second Years, Admin

Blog Posts

Last year I introduced my cohort to the Southern Studies community in an article written for the Southern Register. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, we had no idea what a tempestuous journey we were in for. Acclimatizing to the sleep deprivation and never-ending workload endemic to graduate school was an experience we won't easily forget, but, engaging classes, supportive faculty and an ever-compelling South to study made the challenge entirely worthwhile. I caught up with my cohort, now seasoned graduate students, to hear about their individual Southern Studies experiences and to find out how their interests have changed since entering the program …

Immigrant children through the recent years and present time, make up a significant portion of the school population. The majority of these are immigrants from Mexico. These “Latino” students have a great impact in today's public school systems.

Major court cases and legislation such as Plyer vs. Doe, Lau vs. Nichols, and Proposition 203 have brought attention to the rights and education of immigrant children. There are many different programs in place to teach …

How Are Concerns About Errors And Ethics Related To Demands For Information Systems Audits?, Joseph S. Mollick Ph. D Oct 2015

How Are Concerns About Errors And Ethics Related To Demands For Information Systems Audits?, Joseph S. Mollick Ph. D

Communications of the IIMA

What factors affect individuals' demands that information systems (IS) audits are implemented in the organizations with which they do business? Using concepts and constructs from theoretical literature on individuals’ concerns about organizational information management practices, we build a theoretical model that can explain and predict individuals' demand for information systems audit in organizations. Using data from U. S. university students, we empirically test two hypotheses using a multiple regression model. It was found that students’ concern about error in data and their concern about organizational ethics of information management positively affect students’ demand for IS audit at U. S. universities.

This study replicated an earlier study to affirm or refute the existence of the Generation Y student in occupational therapy from practice educator perspectives. An Australian university previously developed and administered the survey tool. In this current study, the electronic survey was sent to all practice educators listed …
