This summer, I spent several weeks in Southeast Asia on a Global Learning Experience with the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. We traveled to Vietnam, Thailand, China, and Hong Kong to meet with businesses, government agencies, and international organizations. Our group included Dean Anderson, Dr. Vijay Kannan, Dr. Zsolt Ugray, and 13 students in various majors in the Huntsman School of Business.

Religion And Esotericism Among Students: A Crosscultural Comparative Study, Franz Höllinger, Timothy B. Smith

Analyzing the results of a study on religious and esoteric beliefs and practice among university students from five European and five American countries, we found that the level of religiousness of students depends very much on their cultural environment: the level of religiosity and esoteric beliefs is significantly higher among North- and South-American students than among European students. On the other hand, Asian spiritual techniques and esoteric methods of healing are practiced more frequently by students in North-Western European countries. This fall, southern studies launches its new master of fine arts in documentary expression program. The goal of this new program is to teach students who already possess considerable skill and experience in documentary techniques and interdisciplinary scholarship to produce documentary films, photography, or audio projects of high quality. The background for this idea is that the southern studies MA program has graduated numerous students who, as they complete the program, say they wish they had the time and attention to apply their newly learned skills to a polished project.

Cross-Lagged Relations Between Motives And Substance Use: Can Use Strengthen Your Motivation Over Time?, Christine A. Lee, Karen J Derefinko, Heather A. Davis, Richard S. Milich, Donald R. Lynam

Motives for substance use have garnered considerable attention due to the strong predictive utility of this construct, both in terms of use and problems associated with use. The current study examined the cross-lagged relations between alcohol use and motives, and marijuana use and motives over three yearly assessment periods in a large sample (N = 526, 48% male) of college students. The relations between substance use and motives were assessed at each time point, allowing for the examination of these inter-relations over time. A bicycle could help end book deserts in the Miami Valley.

The Words on Wheels program will use a bicycle customized by University of Dayton engineering students to distribute reading materials to local children in areas where access to a library is limited.

“We want to create and sustain a literary oasis,” said Karlos Marshall, a University of Dayton alumnus who founded the nonprofit The Conscious Connect in 2015 to end book deserts in Ohio’s urban cities by 2021.

New graduates of Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Programs are challenged with the preparation and successful completion of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) examination. The threat of not passing this exam is intensified due to the cost of the exam and lack of provisional licensing. Anecdotal experience of faculty in an OTA Program supports concern for new graduates as they report feelings of distress and anxiety, as they enter the one- to two-month period prior to the exam. School counselors are in a position to enforce bullying interventions and provide prompt and thorough investigation of student reported incidents. There are many causes and types of bullying creating challenges for school counselors when identifying the warning signs. This challenge is one obstacle middle school counselor’s encounter when approaching and addressing reported incidents of harassment. This study attempted reviewing the roles of school libraries in learning activities of senior secondary school students in Ondo State. Background: Video simulation is gaining popularity as an alternative method of teaching and can play an important role in nurse anesthesia education.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of an educational video simulation on acquisition of knowledge and perceived knowledge of anesthesia induction in novice nurse anesthesia trainees (NATs).

Method: A single group pre-test post-test design was used to compare knowledge and perceived knowledge on standard and rapid sequencing induction of anesthesia.
