Testing Barriers To Non-Suicidal Self-Injury With College Students: Narcissistic Traits As Moderators, Philip Stoner

Research on non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) has produced mixed findings, resulting in a lack of clarity regarding these behaviors (Klonsky & Meuhlenkamp, 2007). To address this, Hooley and Franklin (2018) developed the Benefits and Barriers Model (BBM) to provide a comprehensive understanding of NSSI, in which they identified the barriers that commonly prevent people from engaging in these behaviors (e.g., self-esteem, shame, and peer-bonding motivations/social norms). They also identified adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) as a distal predictor of NSSI, which aids people in overcoming the barriers to engaging in these behaviors. هدفت الدراسة إلى معرفة معوّقات استخدام التقويم الواقعي في مدارس محافظة إربد من وجهة نظر المعلمين، والكشف عن الفروق باختلاف متغيّرات الجنس، والمؤهل العلمي، والدورات التدريبية، والخبرة العملية، والمرحلة التي يدرّسها، والتخصص، ولتحقيق أهداف هذه الدراسة قام الباحثان بتطوير استبانة تم إعدادها لهذا الغرض، تكونت من (49) فقرة، مقسمة على (7) مجالات من المعيقات تم تطبيقها على عينة حجمها (204) معلماً ومعلمة. أظهرت النتائج أن متوسط معيقات استخدام التقويم الواقعي قد بلغ (3.41)، وقد كان المتوسط في أعلى مستوى له في مجال المعيقات المادية (3.61)، وفي أدنى مستوى له في المجال المتعلّق بالطلبة حيث بلغ (3.06)، كما أظهرت النتائج عدم …

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تعرّف مستوى الاستقواء لدى طلبة جامعة آل البيت من وجهة نظر الطلبة، وكذلك تعرّف الفروق في مستوى الاستقواء تبعاً لمتغيرات الجنس، والكلية، ومكان السكن، والمعدل، ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة أعدت استبانة؛ اشتملت على (36) فقرة، وجرى التحقق من صدقها وثباتها، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من (300) طالب وطالبة، وأبرزت النتائج أن مستوى الاستقواء لدى طلبة جامعة آل البيت كان منخفضاً بصورة عامة في المجالات كافة، وبينت النتائج وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين متوسطات استجابات الطلبة تعزى لمتغير الجنس؛ لصالح الذكور، ولمتغير الكلية؛ لصالح الكليات العلمية، ولمتغير مكان السكن؛ لصالح سكان المدينة، ولمتغير المعدل التراكمي؛ لصالح طلبة المعدل …

College is a time of increased stress and anxiety. The current changes in attendance and methods of instruction due to COVID-19 have demonstrated even higher levels of stress, anxiety, and mental health issues. Tailoring interventions to the specific needs of a campus community has been proposed as an appropriate means to the current crisis. This study identifies the mental health needs of students at a rural college as they pertain to the effects of the pandemic.

Cultural mistrust and fear of potential racism from people in the medical profession may be contributing to a noted disdain for mental health counseling among African American men. The purpose of this study was designed to gain insight into how attitudes toward religious help-seeking, acceptance of change, cultural mistrust, and mental health stigma impact therapy utilization among African American male college students. The review of literature explored the theoretical frameworks followed by the historical perspective, epigenetics, family structure, masculinity concept and help-seeking behaviors, noting barriers, fear, stigmas, spiritual influence, and economic hardships. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of group mentoring on the virtual library skills of senior secondary school students. The study used a two-group pretest-posttest design to study a sample of senior secondary school students from a Nigerian public secondary school (10 students were enrolled for the group mentoring program and 10 others were waitlisted). Data for this study were collected using the Students' Virtual Library Skills Scale. Compared to their wait-list control group counterparts, senior secondary school students who received group mentoring showed a greater ability to gain virtual library skills. INTRODUCTION: Point-of-care ultrasound (US) is used in clinical practice across many specialties. Ultrasound (US) curricula for medical students are increasingly common. Optimal timing, structure, and effect of ultrasound education during medical school remains poorly understood. This study aims to retrospectively determine the association between participation in a preclinical, longitudinal US curriculum and medical student academic performance.

METHODS: All first-year medical students at a medical school in the Midwest region of the United States were offered a voluntary longitudinal US curriculum. For decades, there has been a severe shortage of school psychologists and a rising number of children and adolescents with untreated behavioral and mental disorders in the United States (Castillo et al., 2014). The current national ratio of school psychologists to students is estimated to be 1:1211, which is a concerning shift from the recommended ratio of 1:500-1:700, school psychologists to students (NASP, n.d.-a). This ongoing shortage may lead to issues both for the school psychologists themselves and for the students they help. For instance, Schilling et al.
