Title: Covid-19 Educational Disruption and Delivery Redesign on Traditional BSN Student NCLEX Performance

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to understand the educational disruption and delivery redesign (EDDR) caused by the Covid-19 pandemic on ETSU Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) students and the impact on the nursing workforce. Student progress was evaluated by exploring student grade point average (GPA), socio economic determinants of health, Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) scores and ATI comprehensive predictor scores on student first-time National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) pass rates to evaluate the supply of …

Spring 2022 Virtual OTD Capstone Symposium

Sleep disorders are the second most frequent complaint, after pain, in individuals with chronic illness; the healthcare field is considering this an epidemic. Research suggests there is an insufficient amount of awareness and education regarding treating sleep dysfunction among occupational therapy students and practitioners. The purpose of this capstone project was to create an OT education course for OT students and practitioners to utilize when addressing sleep dysfunction with their clients and caregivers. Trauma-Informed Practices Of Mental Health Providers Around The Globe, Jon Sperry, Debra L. Ainbinder, Gerardo Casteleiro, Lydia Fink

This study examined trauma-informed practices of mental health professionals around the world. The literature indicates that many practitioners feel unprepared and unequipped to therapeutically work with individuals who have experienced trauma-related psychological disorders (SAMHSA, 2014). This is a concerning reality since approximately 90% of individuals receiving services in public health care settings have experienced trauma (SAMHSA, 2015). This poster offers recommendations to improve training programs to better prepare future mental health professionals to work with clients impacted by trauma.

Her-Story: A Narrative Study On The Lived Experiences Of First-Generation African American Women Who Transfer To A Predominately White Institution, Delithea Evonn Davis

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this narrative research study was to explore the experiences of first-generation African American women who transfer to a predominately White institution. More specifically, this study focused on Black women students' ability to succeed while navigating against dominant majoritarian views and negative stereotypes while attending a predominately White institution. This study focused on the resilience and success of Black women as they worked towards obtaining an education. Black feminist thought and Anti-Deficit Achievement theory assisted the study in identifying negative stereotypes, oppression, and the women's abilities to be successful. The findings indicate that while these women faced negative …

The National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE) Fellows are academic professionals who engage in a community of practice and explore their practitioner-scholar identity through research and scholarly inquiry into experiential education. During some monthly meetings, the discussion focused on how to infuse equity, diversity, and inclusion in internship programs. The fellows ruminated on strategies to create quality internship programs and how to embed experiential learning opportunities into the curriculum so more students could access them.
