Creating Healthy Work Environments (CHWE)
This presentation aims to share the findings from a recent study that identified student and faculty perceptions of academic incivility, share the adapted Conceptual Model for Fostering Civility in Nursing Education, and discuss identified strategies for improving civility based on our findings (Authors, 2022; Authors, 2023). This study was conducted at a regional four-year university in the southern United States and focused on the diverse, often under-resourced, and/or first-generation students who make up most students in regional universities but are typically a minority in major research institutions. While the study was not planned to occur during a highly stressful academic …

Exploring The Efficacy Of Storytelling In Education About Climate Change, Nina Adjanin, Srijana Katuwal, Heidi Sevestre, Gordon Brooks
Mid-Western Educational Researcher
From bedtime tales to digital narratives, stories wield unparalleled influence, shaping perceptions, and fostering empathy. Through mediums like social media and digital platforms, storytelling becomes a tool for advocacy, amplifying voices, and catalyzing social change. In this qualitative study, 107 higher education students from diverse backgrounds participated. The purpose of this study was to uncover salient beliefs about climate change stories on popular social media platforms among full-time college students. The results are based on three key components of the theory of planned behavior (TPB): affective beliefs, normative beliefs, and control beliefs. The respondents expressed both positive and negative attitudes …

Numerical Modeling Of The Magnetic Vector Potential And The Associated Electromagnetic Momenta, John Adams, Christopher L. Duston
Numerical Modeling Of The Magnetic Vector Potential And The Associated Electromagnetic Momenta, John Adams, Christopher L. Duston
Physics Faculty Publications
The idea that the magnetic vector potential A is associated with stored electromagnetic momenta dates back to Maxwell himself. Here, we present numerical modeling results that illustrate the connection between A and associated linear and angular electromagnetic momenta, expanding on previous work which mostly considered examples that could be analytically solved. We first focus on a stationary point charge q interacting with the magnetic fields of a solenoid, separately calculating A(r) and the electromagnetic momentum added to the system in bringing q to r from a distant location where A ≈ 0. We then model the …

This study aimed to reveal the level of awareness of tenth grade students in the Sultanate of Oman regarding aspects of preventive education to reduce risks and crises. The study sample amounted to (800) male and female students. The study followed a mixed approach, which included two research methodologies: the quantitative approach, represented by building a scale consisting of six axes, and the internal consistency stability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient reached (0.97), and the qualitative approach represented by the case study method. (7) participants were selected from North Al Batinah Governorate to enrich the study with qualitative data that supports …

Writing Professional Papers Worksheet With Scavenger Hunt: A Simple Strategy To Strengthen Dietetic Writing, Stacy Bevan
Writing Professional Papers Worksheet With Scavenger Hunt: A Simple Strategy To Strengthen Dietetic Writing, Stacy Bevan
Journal of Dietetic Education
Time between learning scientific writing skills and when dietetic students need to transfer that knowledge to discipline-specific research papers in upper division courses may result in a lack of writing skills. Dietetic educators be unfamiliar with writing strategies to improve student writing. A Writing Professional Papers worksheet was developed to help students define components of professional papers, draft a thesis, and then participate in a scavenger hunt using examples of two types of professional papers to identify target issues and avoid common issues seen in student papers. Students in an upper division Maternal and Child Nutrition course responded to an …
