Tantangan Dan Peluang Tri Pusat Pendidikan Dalam Menciptakan Lingkungan Belajar Yang Aman Dan Nyaman Bagi Peserta Didik, Elvara Surya Artha Tania, Neni Wahyuningtyas

Journal of Innovation and Teacher Professionalism

Developing high-quality human resources through education requires various efforts, including providing a safe and comfortable learning environment in which students can develop their talents, potential, and knowledge. Creating a sense of safety and comfort in learning is not solely the responsibility of schools, but also of families and communities. This study used a literature review method. The findings reveal several challenges in creating a safe and comfortable learning environment, including the assumption that schools are the only parties responsible for establishing such an environment, the perception that a safe learning environment refers only to physical conditions, and limited resources. Resilience And Mental Health: Unraveling The Interplay Of Depression, Anxiety, And Stress In First-Generation College Students, Indyah Ferrouillet, Bemsimbom Nkuo, Patrick J. Cooper Aug 2025

Resilience And Mental Health: Unraveling The Interplay Of Depression, Anxiety, And Stress In First-Generation College Students, Indyah Ferrouillet, Bemsimbom Nkuo, Patrick J. Cooper

Faculty and Staff Publications & Presentations

Research suggests a moderate incidence of depression, anxiety, and especially stress among college students (Ramon-Arbues et al., 2020). It is reasonable to believe that these mental health outcomes might be inversely correlated with resilience, the ability to adapt to new challenges. In this study, we hypothesize an inverse correlation between resilience stress, anxiety, and depression. In other words, college students who feel resilient will experience greater mental health and wellness. Building on previous research that suggests these effects in women only (Ahmed & Julius, 2015), gender differences will be examined. Few studies have attempted to see whether these correlations are …

Quality Improvement Project Integrating Educational Program For School Faculty In Childhood Diabetes, Sharon Anna-Marie Hill Aug 2025

Quality Improvement Project Integrating Educational Program For School Faculty In Childhood Diabetes, Sharon Anna-Marie Hill

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

In the United States, diabetes affects approximately 38.4 million individuals, including over 304,000 children and adolescents diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. As the most common chronic condition in children, diabetes management in school settings is critical to ensure health, safety, and academic success. However, a lack of standardized training for school faculty often results in inadequate knowledge and confidence in managing diabetes, exacerbating student health risks. This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) quality improvement (QI) project aimed to develop and implement an educational program for school faculty, focusing on managing and treating childhood diabetes. A paired sample t-test was used …

Helping Bipoc, Women, And First-Generation Students Maximize The Value Of Unpaid Internships, Ted Thornhill, Nicole Torres, Christina Van Wingerden Aug 2025

Helping Bipoc, Women, And First-Generation Students Maximize The Value Of Unpaid Internships, Ted Thornhill, Nicole Torres, Christina Van Wingerden

Journal of Educational Research and Practice

Internships and practicums are a required component of nearly all degree programs in human services and its subfields—and most are unpaid. These unpaid positions often have a disproportionate impact for BIPOC and first-generation students, especially women—many of whom are economically disadvantaged and must work to support themselves and sometimes their families. Increased student activism, non-profit campaigns, and journalistic accounts show student frustration over their unpaid labor. Despite the righteousness of these students’ cause, the reality is that the implementation of an equitable, robust, and sustainable nationwide system of paid internships, in the near-term, is politically impracticable. Given that most human …

Internal Medicine, East Africa

Objective: To investigate the associations of demographic variables, childhood adversities (CAs), and mental disorders (MDx) with onset, transition, and persistence of suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STB) among first-year university students.

Method: Poisson regression models within a discrete-time survival framework were constructed using web-based self-report survey data from 72,288 incoming university students across 18 countries (response rate=20.9%; median age=19 years, 57.9% female, 1.4% transgender, 21.0% non-heterosexual). These models examined the associations of four demographic variables, five CAs, and eight MDx with STB outcomes.

Results: Lifetime prevalence of suicidal ideation, plans, and attempts was 47.0%, 26.0%, and 9.6%, respectively; 12-month estimates were …

Wake Up: How Application Of Garcetti To Public Educator Speech Harms Educators And Students Through The Lens Of Florida's Individual Freedom Act, Lindsay Mccarthy

St. John's Law Review

(Excerpt)

Nearly twenty of the nation’s states have enacted some kind of law that limits the teaching of controversial topics like race, gender, and politics. Within the last three years, these laws have become more commonplace as social movements like Black Lives Matter and #MeToo have brought topics like systemic racism and gender inequality to the nation’s attention. As the country becomes more polarized, state legislatures—typically conservative ones—have resorted to these censorship laws to fight back against the perceived indoctrination of children. The state that has gained the most notoriety for such laws is Florida. In 2022, Florida passed a …

Stare Decisis And The 1l Classroom: Can Legal Reasoning Be Taught Without Judicial Respect For Precedent?, Mark C. Niles

St. John's Law Review

(Excerpt)

I began my career as a law professor in 1998 and, in every year but one, since then I have taught at least one first-year required law school course. I have taught Civil Procedure each of these years and some version of a required Constitutional Law course in about half of them. I want to say just a little bit about stare decisis and its importance in our legal system from the perspective of a law professor teaching first-year students.

I have found that although teaching Civil Procedure involves a focus on a range of substantive issues including judicial …

As part of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Prevention Research Center (PRC) Vaccine Confidence Network (PRC VCN), 26 academic institutions were funded to increase COVID-19 vaccine confidence and uptake in their communities. Six sites (in communities located in Alabama, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, and Texas) formed a workgroup to identify emergent themes, and share challenges and opportunities across projects. This essay describes their efforts to engage trusted messengers in vaccine activities, and discusses strategies to develop and sustain these types of partnerships in the future. All sites recruited trusted messengers with strong community relationships to engage …
