Improving Spelling Performance Of Sixth Grade Students Using Eclectic Spelling Strategies And A Cognitive-Based Approach, Marilyn L. Frieling
Improving Spelling Performance Of Sixth Grade Students Using Eclectic Spelling Strategies And A Cognitive-Based Approach, Marilyn L. Frieling
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
The poor spelling performance of a group of sixth graders was addressed by utilizing the Informal Spelling Inventory suggested by Mann and Suiter (1974). This criterion – referenced test determined that nine members of the sixth grade class scored well below grade level expectations in spelling. A cognitive – based approach and eclectic spelling strategies were implemented with the target group in order to improve their spelling achievement. The results indicated a cognitive-based approach through phonetic instruction and rule generalizations increased levels of achievement in the target group. Students within the group demonstrated positive attitudinal changes. Purposeful writing became one …

A Self-Study And Strategic Plan To Improve The Master Of Business Administration Program At Dowling College, James F. Newman
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
The Dowling College Master of Business Administration program and curriculum was developed in 1976 to meet the specific needs of the Long Island business community. No major effort had since been made to improve the program nor had any survey been conducted to determine the program's effectiveness or student and/or alumni needs and attitudes.
The purpose of this project was to develop a strategic plan to improve the quality of the MBA program and to ensure that Dowling's educators continue their commitment to quality education, to the Long Island business community, and to the graduate students. The focus was on …

The Development Of An Articulation Model Between Shelby State Community College And Two Comprehensive State Universities, Frank B. Heard
The Development Of An Articulation Model Between Shelby State Community College And Two Comprehensive State Universities, Frank B. Heard
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
Shelby State Community College (SSCC) is one of forty-six institutions comprising the State University and Community College System of Tennessee (SBR). The SBR enrolls large numbers of students each year who have educational objectives that are subject to change. Students who wish to transfer from two-to four-year institutions often lose credit, and are sometimes required to repeat course content already learned. This results in increased attrition, and loss of money and time for students, faculty, and taxpayers.
The purpose of this major applied research project was to devise an articulation model between SSCC, Memphis State University (MSU), and Tennessee State …
Charting New Territory In Judicial Proof: Beyond Wigmore, Peter Tillers, David Schum
Charting New Territory In Judicial Proof: Beyond Wigmore, Peter Tillers, David Schum
Cardozo Law Review
In this Article, Professor Tillers and Professor Schum investigate judicial proof in a way that combines three distinct methods of analyzing the probative significance of evidence. They call these three modes of analysis legal structuring, temporal structuring, and relational structuring. Although scholars in various disciplines have recognized the importance of these three types of analysis in the assessment of evidence, no extant theory provides a systematic account of the relationships between legal analysis, temporal analysis, and relational analysis. Professor Tillers and Professor Schum describe some of the matters that a three-dimensional analysis of proof must take into account and they …

Recommendations For A Preparatory English Language Program For Hearing-Impaired College Students, Marguerite Re
UNLV Retrospective Theses & Dissertations
The purpose of this research was to develop recommendations for a preparatory English language program for hearing-impaired college students for Clark County Community College, Las Vegas, Nevada, and other concerned colleges that do not presently offer such a program. A questionnaire designed to elicit program information regarding the goals and objectives, instructional practices and procedures, assessment and evaluation, and major problems and solutions was developed. The questionnaire was sent to directors of current preparatory hearing-impaired English language programs in two-year, liberal arts colleges; An analysis of the data received revealed a good deal of diversity as well as considerable similarity …
