An Archeological Reconnaissance Of The Proposed Cooper River Rediversion Project, Berkeley County, South Carolina, Robert C. Asreen Jr.
Research Manuscript Series
During March and April, 1974, the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology, University of South Carolina conducted an archeological reconnaissance of the proposed Cooper River Rediversion Project in Berkeley County, South Carolina. As a result, forty-four sites were located and two of these, the Platt Site (38BK76) and the Keller Site (38BK83), were tested. A breakdown of site locations was made according to environmental zones. Site components indicate prehistoric occupation of the project area from the Archaic through the Woodland Periods and historic occupation from the late eighteenth century to the present. All but five of these sites are in danger …

Archeological Survey Of The Duke Power Company's Proposed X-81 Plant, Site B, Travis L. Bianchi
Research Manuscript Series
An archeological site survey was conducted by the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology, University of South Carolina during the last week of February, 1974 of the Duke Power Company X-8l Plant, Site B in eastern Cherokee County. This survey revealed fifteen previously unrecorded archeological sites, three of which warrant further investigation. The three, 38CKS, 38CK6, and 38CK8, are located in areas that do not appear to be threatened by the presently planned construction activity. They are important archeological sites, though, and must be fully considered for full investigation before other, future, construction might be undertaken in the area.

This paper proposes to present the results of a statistical analysis conducted on English wine bottles dated between c. 1652-1834. The data comprises an attempt at constructing a statistically tested model based on a sequence of dated bottles. The intent of the model is to serve as a chronological base which has comparative applicability to archeo1ogica11y retrieved samples.

Horse Range Swamp Watershed Survey, Leland G. Ferguson, Mary P. Luttrell
Research Manuscript Series
Archaeological survey was conducted by the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology, University of South Carolina during the first week of December, 1972 in the Horse Range Swamp Watershed District, located in eastern Orangeburg County, South Carolina. A stream channel improvement program sponsored by local organizations--the Horse Range Swamp Conservation District and the Orangeburg Soil and Water Conservation District--is scheduled to begin early in January, 1973. Archaeological survey revealed a sparse distribution of Archaic and Early Woodland sites in the area. No sites were found in the path of the proposed construction. Thus, survey results indicate that there is little possibility …
