Given this large involvement that children have with motion pictures, an educator is moved to inquire into the possible effects that movies might have upon them. It, therefore, seems appropriate that an educational dissertation be undertaken concentrating on Disney Production films, since as indicated by the foregoing, they are so universally viewed by American children.

Statement of the problem:

This study attempted to (1) analyze the five screenplays listed on page 6, (2) show two Disney films based on the screenplays analyzed to groups of children and administer a questionnaire to them. The investigator used the obtained data to determine …

Change In Power Locus Perception And Alienation Through Participation In A Community Action Program, William Lawrence York

This study was designed to determine whether any significant changes occurred concerning the feelings of alienation and educational power locus perception among low-income persons who participated in a Community Action Program. The study was also conducted in such a manner as to show if there was a significant difference in a sense of powerlessness and power locus perception between citizens who did participate and those who did not participate. Additionally, tests were performed to determine if there were significant differences between black, brown, and white citizens.

The objective of this study was to determine whether certain socio-cultural factors tend to influence family planning behavior and attitudes of certain married couples at Utah State University. Socio-cultural factors considered in this study were: ethnic background, religious preference, level of education, and income. These socio-cultural factors (independent variables) were examined from the standpoint of their influence upon one or more of the following dependent variables: the use or non-use of family planning, the extent to which family planning is used, attitude toward the most important source of information for family planning, and attitude regarding the single method which is …

The massive urban renewal and highway construction projects undertaken in recent years represent efforts to alleviate some of the problems of modern society. Urban renewal was dedicated to solving the social problems of the slums. Highway construction projects are efforts to solve problems of a more technical nature. Both have tended to leave in their wake other problems as least as difficult as those they were intended to solve. Urban renewal has demolished old slums and created new ones. The primary purpose of this study was to present a sociological analysis of American Buddhism in northern Utah. Specifically, the analysis covered the acculturation changes of American Buddhism in X __ , Utah, the functions of the acculturation changes, and the effects of secularization on the Buddhists.

The findings were as follows:

  1. Buddhism in X___ is becoming "American Buddhism" just as Buddhism in Japan became Japanese Buddhism.
