The Voice: 1961-1970
A committee begins investigations into recent complaints on food quality from students at the College. The committee is also run by students, known as the Student Services Committee, and it will be looking at food quality, jobs, and public relations among other things. A stunning photo of a young girl holding a rabbit also features on the front page, and serves as an advertisement for an upcoming photography exhibit at Wooster's Art Center. The next article on the Page features Wooster's Crescent in Crisis debate, which covers political unrest in the middle east. Points from some of the main debaters …

The Voice: 1961-1970
The headlining article for this issue of the Voice covers the merging of two literary magazines on campus, after they felt they could better address issues as a collective body. The festivities of homecoming as well as the crowning of the queen are detailed. This issue also contains the full list of students who achieved a 3.5-4.0 GPA in the previous semester. Don Drumm from Akron will be the featured artist in Wooster's art gallery. Students, or more specifically, the Voice was disappointed with the Chapel's recent attempts in international outreach. Page two also discusses the relaunch and restructuring of …

The Poetry Of Matthew Arnold: A Study In Versification, Douglas A. Mathewson
The Poetry Of Matthew Arnold: A Study In Versification, Douglas A. Mathewson
Theses and Dissertations
Despite the great number of published works that deal with English prosody or the more restricted subject of versification, there is a noticeable scarcity of studies that describe the practices of individual poets. One of the more apparent reasons for the meager number of versification studies is the instability of the basic criteria by which a poem is examined. Prosodists quite simply find it difficult to establish concrete principles of scansion that are acceptable to all other prosodists. Without going into discussion of the various schools of thought on metrical structure, suffice it to say that there are conflicting opinions …
Romansh Poetry, L. B.
Romansh Poetry, L. B.
Swiss American Historical Society Newsletter
In 1958, together with his friend Robert Billigmeier, Dr. Augustin Maissen has edited the booklet "Contemporary Romansh Poetry. An Anthology of Contemporary Poetry written in the Romansh Language of Switzerland, with Bilingual Text, including an Introduction and Biographical Notes", published by the Romansh-American Foundation and printed by Editorial 'Cantera', Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico (48 pages). This charming presentation of Romansh culture is an excellent introduction into the fourth Swiss national language because it appeals to a feeling for beauty which is universal. The poem "Il pur suveran" ("The Sovereign Peasant") by Anton Huonder (1824-1872), one of the early pioneers of the …

The Orc Symbol In William Blake's Works, Michael James Finnigan
The Orc Symbol In William Blake's Works, Michael James Finnigan
Graduate Student Research Papers
A study of Orc, Blake's symbol for energy, suggests several different hypotheses. This paper intends to test the hypothesis that Orc is a force. With the use of illustrations and explications, Orc becomes more clearly a symbol of Blake's imaginative form. This energy will be seen at each level of Blake's visions, each different psychological stage, and at the highest level, poetic imagination. Thus, as the creator creates, the creation becomes the molded form of the creator's imagination.
