They have asked Lindenwood’s 2024-25 PIC Math group to analyze their data from the years 2020-25 and identify any trends. Identifying these trends …

Distribution Of New Statistics Of Parking Functions And Their Generalizations, Stephan Wagner, Catherine H. Yan, Mei Yin Jan 2026

Distribution Of New Statistics Of Parking Functions And Their Generalizations, Stephan Wagner, Catherine H. Yan, Mei Yin

Mathematics: Faculty Scholarship

In this paper we present new results on the enumeration of parking functions and labeled forests. We introduce new statistics on parking functions, which are then extended to labeled forests via bijective correspondences. We determine the joint distribution of two statistics on parking functions and their counterparts on labeled forests. Our results on labeled forests also serve to explain the mysterious equidistribution between two seemingly unrelated statistics in parking functions recently identified by Stanley and Yin and give an explicit bijection between the two statistics. Extensions of our techniques are discussed, including joint distribution on further refinement of these new …

Exploring The Academic Trajectories Of Transfer Students Enrolled In An Introduction To Proof Course And Their Self-Efficacy For Proving, Sundas Hussain

Mathematics Dissertations

Transfer students entering proof-based mathematics courses face a double transition: they are adjusting to a new institution while simultaneously learning to construct mathematical proofs. Although transfer students have been widely studied in higher education and self-efficacy for proving has received increasing attention in mathematics education, little research has examined the intersection of these two areas. The purpose of this study was to better understand how transfer students’ academic trajectories shape their self-efficacy for proving. This multiple case study examined twelve transfer students enrolled in an Introduction to Proofs (ITP) course, using Bandura's (1997) four sources of self-efficacy as the …

Fuzzy linear programming problems (FLPP) are advanced approaches for solving linear programming problems (LPP) that involve fuzzy coefficients and variables with constraints on the problem. Numerous applications exist for the pentagonal function and ranking membership in geometry and the sciences, especially mathematics. This study suggests a novel approach for solving fully fuzzy linear programming problems (FFLPP) using the ranking function with pentagonal functions. The project aims to determine the maximum (minimum) solution to the problems where all variables, including the objective function, constraints and the right hand, are pentagonal fuzzy numbers. Additionally, generalizations of both linear and nonlinear pentagonal functions …

On The Systems Of Distinct Representatives For The Family Of Sets Formed By Neighborhoods Of Vertices, Shahistha Hanif, K Arathi Bhat Dec 2025

On The Systems Of Distinct Representatives For The Family Of Sets Formed By Neighborhoods Of Vertices, Shahistha Hanif, K Arathi Bhat

Baghdad Science Journal

Currently, the theory of systems of distinct representatives is being carefully examined and reworked, often in a more general context. With time, considerable literature has grown, and new theories are proposed that require the system of distinct representatives to possess additional properties. In this article, one such context is considered. A graph is completely defined by the relationship between its vertices, also known as the neighborhood of vertices in graph theoretical context. Several parameters are defined based on the set of all neighborhoods of vertices and are explored. This article delves into the well-known problem of the existence of a …

Coincidence Points And Common Fixed Points Of Cyclic Maps By Implicit Contractive Conditions, Abbas Karim Nahi, Salwa Salman Abed Dec 2025

Coincidence Points And Common Fixed Points Of Cyclic Maps By Implicit Contractive Conditions, Abbas Karim Nahi, Salwa Salman Abed

Baghdad Science Journal

The study of common fixed points and coincidence points has occupied a large part of the priorities of researchers, especially in the metric space and its generalizations. This done by weakening the assumption of commutativity by using: compatible mappings, weakly compatible mappings, R-sub weakly commuting mapping, Cq-commuting maps, occasionally weakly compatible maps, etc. The notion of occasionally weakly compatible and occasionally weakly biased mappings reduces to weak compatibility due to the unique coincidence points of the involved maps. It was pointed out that some results did not lead to effective generalizations for occasionally weakly compatible maps and occasionally weakly biased …

Using Physics-Informed Neural Networks For Solving 2Nd-Order Volterra Integro-Differential Equation By Deepxde Library, Oday Ahmed Jasim, Abdulghafor M. Al-Rozbayani

Baghdad Science Journal

Many disciplines widely use deep learning (DL) as a key tool for investigating the behavior of various systems. Deep learning (DL) has recently been utilized to solve differential equations using physics-based input. Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) are a novel DL model that excels at solving both inverse and forward non-linear PDE problems. PINNs may be trained as surrogate models for approximation solutions to the VIDE without label data by embedding the physical information outlined by PDEs in feedforward NNs. The objective of this study is to solve the second-order Volterra integral-differential equations (2nd-order VIDEs) for the first time using PINN …

The Dynamic Among The Producer, Consumer, And Predator In The Presence Of Fear, Hunting Cooperation, And Anti-Predator Behavior, Muslim Saad Jabbar, Raid Kamel Naji Dec 2025

The Dynamic Among The Producer, Consumer, And Predator In The Presence Of Fear, Hunting Cooperation, And Anti-Predator Behavior, Muslim Saad Jabbar, Raid Kamel Naji

Baghdad Science Journal

In general, the dynamic interactions that form the relationships between predators and prey within a food chain depend heavily on fear, hunting cooperation, and anti-predator defenses. These elements support species’ survival in their particular habitats, balance the ecosystem, and control the numbers of predators and prey. Therefore, a three-species food chain system consisting of producer-consumer-predator, which plays a crucial role in ecological dynamics, has been formulated mathematically. The objective is to investigate the influence of fear, hunting cooperation, and anti-predators on the dynamic behavior of the food chain system. Two types of functional responses have been utilized. The characteristics of …
