Job Satisfaction Among Peer Support Staff In Mental Health Treatment And Recovery-Oriented Settings, Jonathan P. Edwards
Job Satisfaction Among Peer Support Staff In Mental Health Treatment And Recovery-Oriented Settings, Jonathan P. Edwards
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
Introduction/Objective: Peer support practice in mental health treatment and recovery-oriented service settings has seen exponential growth during the past several decades. An estimated 25,000 certified peer specialists in the United States alone necessitates a deeper understanding of factors that are associated with job satisfaction. While there exists a body of research on this topic, many of these studies were conducted with limited sample sizes, within discrete practice settings and geographic regions, often focused on one facet of job satisfaction (e.g., compensation), and lacked racial diversity in the sample. The current study addresses these limitations by examining multiple factors associated with …

An Examination Of Daily Family-Supportive Supervisor Behaviors, Perceived Supervisor Responsiveness And Job Satisfaction, Luke Daniel Mahoney
Dissertations and Theses
Balancing both work and non-work life is increasingly recognized as a challenge for employees, and supervisors are in a position to support employees in their efforts to do so. Supervisors who exhibit family-supportive behaviors in support of employees who juggle work and family roles show benefits for employees in terms of well-being and job outcomes. The purpose of this study was to take a more fine-grained look at family-supportive supervisor behaviors (FSSB) using daily surveys in order to advance understanding of how family-supportive behaviors work within-person. Another aim of the study was to examine perceived supervisor responsiveness (PSR) for the …

Attracting And Retaining Young Workforce In Indonesia: Does Person-Organization (P-O) Fit Matter?, Dina Sartika
Attracting And Retaining Young Workforce In Indonesia: Does Person-Organization (P-O) Fit Matter?, Dina Sartika
Makara Human Behavior Studies in Asia
Rooted in the similarity−attraction−attrition paradigm, Cable and Judge’s framework has been one of the leading models in explaining Person−Organization fit. It associates perceived value congruence with employee work attitudes pre and post their entry. This study extends the model and findings by looking at the specific, underlying value dimensions that cause these effects. Drawing on a sample of 800 Indonesian jobseekers, I applied polynomial regression to test the model. Results showed that congruence between personal and organizational social responsibility value was the strongest and most consistent dimension predicting employee job satisfaction and organizational commitment.

Impact Of The Quality Of Supervisors’ Relationships With Subordinates On Employability And Job Satisfaction Of Public Organizations’ Workers, Izabela Marzec
European Management Studies
Changes in the area of employment in public organizations make the enhancement of their workers’ employability acquire special importance. In this context, attention should be paid to the role of supervisors in this process. The theory of Leader-Member Exchange (LMX), which indicates that the quality of supervisors’ relationships with subordinates may become an important tool for workers’ employability enhancement, provides an important input on this issue (Schyns, Torka, & Gössling, 2007; Van der Heijden et al., 2009). This paper tries to answer the questions: how do employees of public organizations evaluate their job satisfaction as well as what are the …

Office Clutter And Its Influence: Assessing Engagement, Satisfaction, Tension, Stress, And Emotional Exhaustion, Trina N. Dao
College of Science and Health Theses and Dissertations
Psychological home is a relatively new topic within the field of psychology, defined as a person’s need to self-identify with a physical environment. Clutter, defined as the over-accumulation of material items, is even less studied. Previous research has shown that clutter in the home may negatively influence a person’s well-being, but this tendency has not been investigated in workplace settings (Crum & Ferrari, 2019a; Crum & Ferrari, 2019b; Roster, Ferrari & Jurkat, 2016). Within workplace research, there is a construct called work-related well-being (Narainsamy & Van Der Westhuizen, 2013; Rothman, 2008), consisting of job satisfaction, employee engagement, burnout, and occupational …

Source Attribution In Asl-English Interpreter Education: Testing A Method, Laura Maddox
International Journal of Interpreter Education
In interactive signed/spoken language interpreting situations, participants in the conversation learn who is speaking if the interpreter identifies the “source” or initiator of each utterance. This interpreting technique is referred to as source attribution (SA). Although attributing interpreted utterances is a critical skill for interpreters, this is the first study to test a method for teaching SA techniques to signed language interpreting students. Using a mixed-method approach involving an experimental group and a control group, data was collected using a pretest/instruction/posttest method, along with journals, questionnaires, and interviews. The experimental group improved significantly more than the control group after the …

Based upon a total number of 68 studies, involving 49,338 employees, the findings suggest that motivational strategies are associated with one’s well-being at work. Specifically, results indicate that more positive emotion regulation strategies are related to workers’ higher levels of job satisfaction and job performance. Conversely, more self-doubt is related to lower levels of job satisfaction and job performance. More interestingly, SES moderates some effect sizes, which include those related to emotional labor strategies (i.e., deep …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this paper is to recognize and improve the understanding of social workers’ job satisfaction in the geriatric area. Low job satisfaction makes social workers want to move their field and change their career. The research is the conceptual model of the moderating effect of patient engagement. The hypothesis is that the organizational factors of this model (climate, workplace, pay, supervision) lead to low job satisfaction for social workers and the generation gap between Millennials and older generations will result in different job satisfaction. The assumption was that among the factors (climate, workplace, pay, supervision), salary has the …

Supervisor Self-Other Agreement, Family-Supportive Supervisor Behaviors And Job Attitudes, Luke D. Mahoney
Supervisor Self-Other Agreement, Family-Supportive Supervisor Behaviors And Job Attitudes, Luke D. Mahoney
University Honors Theses
This paper joins the literature on family-supportive supervisor behavior research and the self-other agreement (SOA) paradigm to ask the question, how does a congruent perspective in the supervisor-employee dyad relate to service-member workplace attitudes and work-family relationships? Supervisors rated themselves on Family-Supportive Supervisor Behaviors (FSSB) and were in turn rated by their service-member employees. Results of a polynomial regression and surface-response analysis point to the conclusion that as supervisor and service-members’ ratings of the supervisors FSSB rise in tandem, self-reported service-member workplace outcomes (job satisfaction, organizational commitment) rose as well. The variance in work-to-family conflict and work-to-family enrichment was not …

Increasing Job Satisfaction And Organizational Commitment In The Millennial Workforce, Courtney A. Tschantz
Senior Honors Theses
Members of the Millennial Generation have higher rates of turnover compared to other generations. This can represent significant costs to organizations, and therefore is important to minimize. Job satisfaction has been shown to increase motivation and productivity as well as decrease turnover, and can be maximized by adjusting economic factors, fostering interpersonal relationships, and adjusting activities, tasks, and work conditions to the personality of the worker. All three types of organizational commitment (affective, normative, and continuance) also decrease turnover rates. Both job satisfaction and organizational commitment depend on a worker’s personality, needs, and expectations, which are influenced by the generation …

Human Resource Development Theses and Dissertations
Change is common within organizations today, and companies are seeking employees who will adapt to the changes with a minimum level of disruption to the organization. Although a large literature base exists outlining ways to implement and manage change efforts from both research and practitioner perspectives, many change initiatives do not meet expectations. A lack of communication from management has been identified as a major contributor to resistance to change. As such, managerial communication plays an integral role in the change management process. This study investigated the moderating role of three individual employee attributes (i.e., organizational trust, managerial trust, and …
