The essay instructions finally landed in front of me. I passed the extra sheets on and quickly glanced over the page, hoping that the prompt would be inspiring. There were two open-ended options from which to choose: military and social/political aspects of the war. My eyes first fell upon the social option and I pondered using this opportunity to shed light on the experiences of women during the war. In this edition of Fearless Friday, we’re highlighting one of the newer service projects that Gettysburg College is involved with: Sherfy Battlefield Garden. This summer will mark the fourth planting season at Sherfy, which was developed in 2013 by Hannah Grose ’13. The garden is located just off of Emmitsburg Road by the house that, in 1860, belonged to Joseph Sherfy and his family. Bullet holes mar the brick walls of the farmhouse, testifying to the fighting that occurred all over the fifty acres of Joseph Sherfy’s farmland on the last two days of the Battle of Gettysburg. Combine sleuthing with theatrical staging, photographic knowledge, historical research, discussion, planning, publicity, collaboration and fortuitous timing. That’s what it took for students in the Contemporary Photographic Strategies class taught by Brandon Bauer (Art) to recreate a historic photo of a 1969 campus peace protest.

Buster Keaton's Comedic Innovations, Tyler P. Templeton
Symposium Of University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE)
A brief examination of Buster Keaton's contributions to cinematic comedy starting circa 1920, and specifically his progressive fusion of comedy with dramatic narrative. Keaton's innovations in the genre have allowed for his work to influence many contemporary filmmakers today, one of the most prominent examples being Wes Anderson.

These meeting minutes list individuals in attendance and missing at the March 3, 2016 Oregon Wine Board (OWB) meeting, held at the Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River, Oregon. The Board went into Executive Session prior to calling the meeting to order. The finance, research, education, and marketing/communications committees provided reports. The Board discussed OWB's strategic plan for 2016-2019, as well as an unsolicited grant proposal. The meeting lasted 4 hours 23 minutes (including the time spent in Executive Session).
