The fragments of strata referred to have been recognized, so far, only at Lime Springs, but their presence there, as well as the condition in which they are found, inspires the confident hope that we may yet find some of these Cretaceous strata in situ in that vicinity. These are the argali (Ovis amnion, Lin.), found throughout all the principal mountains of Asia; the burrhal (Ov. burrhel), of the upper Himalayas; the Corsican wild sheep (Ov. musimon, Pal.); the African (Ov. tragelephus, Cuv.); and the American bighorn (Ov.
