Geological and Natural History Survey, Alfred R.C. Selwyn, Director, Museum and Office, Sussex St., Ottawa.19 January, 1888.Dear Sir:Last summer, in the course of my work, I had occasion to make a partial examination of the Stickeen or Stikine River, in northern B.C. while Mr. McCowell of my staff made a survey of the river, to Telegraph Creek. An OLD EWNBUUUH STORY. As has boon reported in the columns o this nrtl other nowspRpirs, there died the other day at Newcastle upon-Tyno an aged medical practitioner, by name Dr. Lightfoot. In this gontlemnn's poieonaiity there was a link witb the Edinburgh of nearly eighty years ago. Ho was a pupil of the Dr. Knox immn finil style of business camu out prominently in the now almost forgotten but at one time widely notorious trial of a wretche3 niao called Burke for murder. John Muir: A Reading Bibliography by Kimes (Muir articles 1866-1986)
On Burrow's Bay. ALASKA. The great wilderness of Alaska, with its lofty mountains laden with glaciers and snow, its deep in-reaching fiords and flowery plains, and its boundless wealth of evergreen forests and islands, and shining, singing waters, offers a glorious field for lovers of fountain beauty, much of which is now within easy reach of the ordinary traveler. The trip by steamer from Puget Sound to the head of the Alexander Archipelago is perfectly enchanting. Leaving scientific interests entirely out of the count, no excursion that I know of may be made into any other portion of the wilds …
Law Schools And Legal Education, Henry W. Rogers
Law Schools And Legal Education, Henry W. Rogers
Articles
In the February number of the AMERICAN LAW REGISTER, there appeared an interesting article from the pen of Mr. Henry Budd, discussing the relation of law schools to legal education. The motive which inspired the writing of the article, was a commendable one, and the desire of the writer to have a higher standard established, governing admissions to the bar, will be quite generally concurred in. No one could read the article in question, however, without readily perceiving that the law schools of the United States were considered to be, in large measure, responsible for the admission to the bar …

Martinez, California, August, 7th, 1887.
Dear brother Dan. We all congratulate you on your marriage, which was not un- -expected, & we hope that much happiness is yet in store for you in this every-changing world.
Our little Helen has been very sick but is now nearly well again. We now know what the agony of the loss a child is for we had lost hope for a time of her recovery.
I am all nerve shaken, & lean as a crow louded with care work & worry the care & worry will soon wear away I hope but the …

Publications on Yale History
The following sketch has been compiled to meet the frequent demand, on the part of visitors to New Haven and members of the University, for some brief statement of the earlier history of the institution, which will supplement the accounts of its present condition contained in current annual publications.
